| #118DELTANov 15, 2009 1:47:59 | Ok, folks I got this idea from Candlekeep. I am starting this thread to try and generate some activity on THIS forum. I will moderate this thread, so I don't mind off topic banter, but let's try and stay on topic...ok? I know its cheesy, but I am copy/pasting the Rules from Wooly's scroll at the Keep. I know it's lazy, but I am editing out some parts that don't pertain to these forums. The rules: 1. All questions must come from a novel, sourcebook, official (non-subscription) TSR/WotC web release, or Dragon magazine. Lore originating solely from computer games (including their manuals), comic books, mailing lists (like Realms-L), forums (including this one), apocryphal sources such as the Double Diamond Triangle Saga, or any other unofficial TSR/WotC source are disallowed. Polyhedron and Dungeon magazines are similarly off-limits; while they did contain official Realms material, Dragon had a lot more such material and a wider reader base. Dragon was also where the Realms first saw print, so it's only fitting to include it. It's only fair if we use non-obscure material that everyone has a reasonable chance of easily obtaining. 2. It is requested that any member answering a question refrain from doing so again for five days. There are plenty of people who know a lot, but others need to have a chance. 3. If no one has correctly answered a question within 24 hours of its posting, the posting member needs to provide a hint, and the hint must be informative enough to give others a chance to find the information. For example (drawing from the previous Trivia Challenge), if the question was "Who was Alisker Lathundown of Nuel?", saying "He's dead!" is not a sufficient hint. Saying "Alisker was one of seven, and the seven aren't as well known as the lady mage they served. He's definitely dead, but may or may not be still around." is enough information to aim people in the right direction. (He's one of the skulls that served Tashara of the Seven Skulls; he's named in the "Elminster's Notebook" article of the same name in Dragon 206.) 4. It's recommended, but not necessary, that when the correct answer is given, a reference be provided. That way, others can read up on it, if they wish. 5. The member who correctly answers a question is then allowed to post a question of their own. It's a good idea to have a question ready, instead of saying "I'll come back with one in several hours" (I myself am guilty of the latter! 6. At this time, questions which cover the entirety of 1e, 2e, 3e and 4e FORGOTTEN REALMS are allowed as part of this Trivia Challenge. However, 4e questions based solely on information from the DDI are discouraged, since a large number of members have not subscribed to that service, and the information is thus not available for them. 7. Remember, the purpose of this is simply to have some fun and share lore. There's no need to lord superior knowledge of Realmslore over each other; we're all here because we love the setting. 8. If your Answer is correct, then please PM me the answer to the Question you will ask. |

| #3018DELTANov 19, 2009 2:43:28 | Well then ask a question Drizztmanchild...![]() I believe you are right. The poster who asked the question my want you to provide your sources for your answer. ![]() |

BTW Entreri is listed twice because he took it from Regis first then from Basadoni. Second I dont think thats right. Pasha is like a high rank or title in Calimshan. I dont think any of the characters you mentioned were actually ever given the status of Pasha, but i could be wrong. Ive only read 2 maybe 3 of them books, and that was some time ago. The sourcebook Calimport lists some Pashas in it (it can be downloaded here.) But we havnt heard back from Knighthawk, so whats the ruling Delta? Do we go ahead with DrizztsMC question? |

or maybe Caladorn Cassalanter? I have heard of Caladnei, but im still clueless what the name of the rogue in her original adventuring party is, and I havnt a clue where to look for such information, Ive already looked thru the 3e and 3.5 campaighn books to no avail. Give us a clue manchild of Drizzt! |
| #38drizztsmanchildNov 20, 2009 22:39:09 | First.....the Question I posted is novel specific....Caledaan Caladorien is a character in them and had a group...........Silversword....in response to your post....Regis claimed the title after Pook was killed........Entreri was Pasha when he dethroned Regis(albiet it was a very short reign.......Quentin Bodreau was the person who took over Pooks guild after Entreri left.......Pasha Basadoni was the Pasha of the Basadoni guild until he was killed by Entreri...Entreri therefore became the Pasha of the Basadoni guild.....All this was in the novels I provided as sources |
| #39The_SilverswordNov 20, 2009 23:05:46 | Ah ok, I didnt know they actually had the title of Pasha, learn something new everyday! I was just going by the sourcebook and I didnt recall seeing thier names in there. Looks like I need to read me some more novels. And your question is novel specific? hmmmmmm? Nope I still aint got a clue. Gonna have to go flippin through some novels now. Can we get another hint? is it part of the Harpers series? |

Hes a 4th level Ranger/5th level Enchanter. While the circus winters in Ravens Bluff he goes off adventuring until the spring, when he joins the circus once again. -Inside Ravens Bluff, the Living City pg 4 Question: This is a 2e one. | #53The_SilverswordNov 24, 2009 20:24:17 | Well its been 24 hours, so ill give a hint. The method for making Magic Golems was discovered (accidently) by the Zhents. |

| #56ukplayerxNov 26, 2009 6:10:41 | Will this suffice? A magic golem appears as a humanoid creature composed of iridescentyellow energy.pure magic. It is the unholy union of a human being and an area of wild magic. After the Time of Troubles, Zhentarim wizards beganto catalog all of the areas of wild magic in an effort to study these areas more closely. During an expedition to a remote wild magic area in the Hordelands, an unfortunate sequence of spells cast by one Zhentarim wizard turned another into a being of pure magic. A combination of the mage and untamed magical forces. |

I learned more from that than any other Realms source book I have ever read. I loved the liitle notes and stuff in it, really put me in mind of the older 2e books. |
| #7218DELTADec 02, 2009 1:52:16 | -Nope. Can't say I've ever heard of that individual before. Hint Please LK... |
| #73The_SilverswordDec 02, 2009 20:51:09 | Yes hint please! i just got done reading through the Elves of Evermeet source book, and i didnt see it in there. Its novel specific isnt it? |
| #74lord_karsusDec 02, 2009 23:14:07 | -A clue: You'd probably have to go to the moon and back to find this somewhat obscure novel today. Glancing at it's cover, it doesn't look like a Forgotten Realms book, but you'll see that the subject matter does indeed take place on Abeir-Toril (mostly). |
| #75Nai_CalusDec 03, 2009 0:59:19 | I think I know which one you're talking about, and I have it, but haven't read it yet. Derp. Flipping through it, someone apparently related to Amlaruil is named Asturian, but the relationship isn't mentioned so I have no idea if that's the one you're thinking of. |
| #76TheriseDec 03, 2009 10:47:56 | Talk about obscure tidbits... Asturian is the half-brother of Amlaruil. But he's described in The Radiant Dragon (a Spelljammer novel by Elaine Cunningham) only as a "dark haired prince" and may not technically be royalty. Only at Candlekeep does Elaine note that he is a "younger half-brother of Amlaruil" but also "not a Moonflower" (which would make sense, considering that Moonflower is the patronymic of Zaor). No other source mentions Asturian, at least so far as I'm aware, and only the Q&A from Elaine notes his relationship. Nai Calus gets the win on this one. Naughty Karsus, NAUGHTY! ![]() |
| #77lord_karsusDec 03, 2009 12:15:07 | -Nai_Calus wins. I think I made that too easy. |
| #78Nai_CalusDec 03, 2009 13:13:17 | I dunno, that was pretty damned obscure and I only got it because I coincidentally happen to have that novel. (Modesto, CA isn't quite the moon, but yeah, I found that one at a used book store there and got it because it was written by EC.) There's a god detailed primarily for FR who has a holy day on 12 Ches. Who is it? (Knowing my luck, someone else also has one then and I've forgotten about it. :P) |

| #82The_SilverswordDec 04, 2009 15:27:46 | I was about to say Loviatar as well, even though Candle Rites isnt really a Holy Day being as its the 12th of every month. | #89sfdragonDec 05, 2009 1:39:22 | umm Corellon Larethian? |
| #90Nai_CalusDec 05, 2009 7:27:41 | It's not Corellon. The god in question is incredibly obscure, even in-world. |
| #91The_SilverswordDec 05, 2009 17:53:58 | Its driving me nuts! Im gonna take a guess and go with Chronus, thats the most obscure god i can think of. |
| #92Nai_CalusDec 05, 2009 22:52:42 | Nope. Man this question just seems to drag on, doesn't it? (There's a hint in there which should be fairly obvious...) |
| #9318DELTADec 06, 2009 0:33:47 | Does it have anything to do with your goofy avatar?:-p |
| #94Nai_CalusDec 06, 2009 0:50:42 | Vartan is not goofy. And not especially. Only very indirectly would it have anything to do with him. I think I went for something entirely too obscure here. :P Here's another hint, combine it with the other two and you should have it: While the god in question is detailed for FR, with all of his allies and enemies except his generic pantheon being FR deites, and part of his portfolio is exclusive to the Realms, the source is not specifically FR. |
| #95sfdragonDec 06, 2009 2:09:58 | Labelas or Rilifane |

| #98Nai_CalusDec 06, 2009 11:02:51 | Should I just tell you all and put you out of my misery? |
| #99StiggerDec 06, 2009 11:08:26 | Doesn't bother me any... though I'll point out that if it isn't in a Realms specific source, then its not technically a point of canon, so technically, the question was answered with Loviatar. ![]() |
| #100The_SilverswordDec 06, 2009 11:11:48 | Zinzerena? |
| #101TheriseDec 06, 2009 11:51:44 | Should I just tell you all and put you out of my misery? Are you sure that your source says that the holy day for this mysterious deity is 12 Ches? |
| #102Nai_CalusDec 06, 2009 12:22:47 | Yes. I don't think anyone is going to get it, so I'll just post it. It's Mythrien Sarath, elven demigod of protection, abjurative magic and Mythals. Formerly a lesser power who helped the Elves with the creation of Mythals around certain cities(Myth Drannor is specifically mentioned as *not* being among them), but used up too much of his own power in he process. He attempted to forge an artifact at an unnamed place on Faerun, a ring, but was attacked by Malar, which caused the ring to become lost, and Malar imprisoned Mythrien's lone avatar below the battle site. He's allied with the Seldarine and Mystra, and his enemies are the drow and orc panthoens, Malar, Talos and Mask. His remaining specialty priests and crusaders search for the ring, and in addition to their monthly holy days, the major one is The Forging and The Loss, on 12 Ches. He's detailed in Dragon 251, in yet another article detailing minor members of the Seldarine that nobody remembers(Even more so than usual for 2e Dragon members of the Seldarine, since he's FR-specific rather than generic. He's also the only 2e Dragon member of the Seldarine I actually like). |
| #103TheriseDec 06, 2009 12:44:18 | Yes. The minor "expansion" Seldarine deities detailed in Dragon #236 and #251 aren't considered canon, though. Just FYI. |
| #104The_SilverswordDec 06, 2009 13:16:30 | D'oh! I just flipped through that issue of Dragon too! I dindt think any of them was FR specific. Oh well learned something new. I was going through all the sourcebooks i could think of, Even went through On Hallowed Ground, which is were i came across the reference to Zinzerena, another deity i had never heard of. Thats the great thing about the Trivia Challange, im finding alot of stuff i never even knew exisited in the Realms before. So I guess we go with Zireael's Question now, since technicaly Loviatar was correct as well. |
| #105StiggerDec 06, 2009 15:32:02 | Triel Telenna would be the high priestess, though an argument could be made for Rhytella on a technicality. |
| #106Nai_CalusDec 06, 2009 15:46:18 | Sorry, think the last question threw me due to the source of that one; I don't automatically consider Spelljammer novels canon for FR, heh. |
| #10718DELTADec 06, 2009 18:02:05 | Ok, folks I got this idea from Candlekeep. I am starting this thread to try and generate some activity on THIS forum. I will moderate this thread, so I don't mind off topic banter, but let's try and stay on topic...ok? Lets re-read the Rules.;) |
| #108TheriseDec 06, 2009 18:35:05 |
So... the funny thing... not everything in Dragon is technically canon. Much of it is, some of it is not, and it's often hard to tell. If it's written by Greenwood, then it is canon. If it's written by another author, it might be. But perhaps not. Just, you know... to throw a fun little wrench in the works, heh! |
| #10918DELTADec 06, 2009 22:04:36 | This is about Trivia not Canon my dear.;) I will add a rule about PMing me the answer. ![]() |
| #11018DELTADec 06, 2009 22:09:27 | Ok, folks I got this idea from Candlekeep. I am starting this thread to try and generate some activity on THIS forum. I will moderate this thread, so I don't mind off topic banter, but let's try and stay on topic...ok? New rule added. ![]() |
| #111TheriseDec 06, 2009 22:51:12 | This is about Trivia not Canon my dear.;) (...erk... did he just call me 'my dear'?... *ahem* Okay, in that case you should modify the first rule. By eliminating "apocryphal" and non-official sources, it sounds like you're going for canon. Just sayin', shmoopie-poopiekins. |
| #11218DELTADec 07, 2009 5:31:10 | I meant no disrepect.![]() Of course it's about canon silly!:-p The Candlekeep Trivia Challenge has some real stumpers in it. ![]() |
| #113StiggerDec 07, 2009 6:49:30 | Well, since I know that answer was correct as of 2e, I'll toss one into the ring to see if anyone gets it... As of the Year of the Banner, what item had a reward of 400,000 gp and the lifelong exclusive use of the palatial Summersuns estate in upland Sembia attached to it, and who was it offered by? |
| #11418DELTADec 07, 2009 8:07:40 | I was getting alittle confused.![]() |
| #115StiggerDec 07, 2009 8:51:57 | Its rather your natural state... |
| #116TheriseDec 07, 2009 17:33:22 | I meant no disrepect. I know, and I wasn't really irked... hence the reindeer smiley. And I don't really mind about canon or if it's more open, I just thought it'd be good to clarify. Some people are really rigid about canon and other's don't mind as much. And definitely... some of those at Candlekeep are insanely hard. |
| #117StiggerDec 08, 2009 20:29:45 | I'm guessing that the thread is dead Jim... |
| #118Nai_CalusDec 08, 2009 20:53:19 | Going to answer this since nobody else seems to be trying. :P Well, since I know that answer was correct as of 2e, I'll toss one into the ring to see if anyone gets it...
The Sash of Sune, by Maeron Shulduth of the House of Firehair in Daerlun; in Prayers from the Faithful. Super-easy one. Sixth Sense is a specific spell. To what, and what level is it? Yes, it's in an inarguably canon source. :P
I can't get past the damned recaptcha crap to PM you, Delta. This is undoubtedly part of your evil plots for world domination. |
| #11918DELTADec 08, 2009 22:26:49 | Must be a new bug...er...feature for these forums now.![]() |
| #120ukplayerxDec 09, 2009 4:51:26 | So...what's the next question? |
| #121The_SilverswordDec 09, 2009 5:03:29 |
|
| #122ukplayerxDec 09, 2009 5:09:29 | LOL i just re-checked this thread!!! DOH! |
| #123Doombringer_of_HoarDec 09, 2009 6:15:16 |
Yes, I finally got one! It's a Corellite Spell, 1st level. Demihuman Deities pg 103. Next Question: What is bela? |
| #124Nai_CalusDec 09, 2009 11:43:31 | *applause* See, I told you it was easy. It is, indeed, a 1st-level priest spell specific to the priesthood of Corellon Larethian. It basically warns the caster of danger to help them react in time and grants them a +3 bonus to surprise checks and ability checks made to immediately react to a dangerous situation. |
| #125amedahastDec 09, 2009 16:20:32 |
I know this one! Isn't bela a type of paper money, mostly used in Kara-Tur? It's considered worthless in the West, sometimes insulting. 2E Forgotten Realms Adventures, p129. Next question: if you're an elf visiting the Elfsong Tavern for the first time, and you hear a ghostly voice sing a sad song that moves you to tears, how will the tavernkeeper respond? |
| #126ukplayerxDec 10, 2009 5:37:21 | She'll throw you out for being such a wuss! You're suppossed to be a hard-drinking, hard-hitting womanizing (or manizing) adventurer!! SHEESH!! Elves hearing the song for the first time are often stunned. By tradition, they are silently served a free tallglass of elverquisst by the bartender. (A first-timer of any race and either sex who breaks down into tears upon hearing the song is usually embraced and comforted by the nearest regular patron.) |
| #12718DELTADec 10, 2009 8:09:55 | At first I thought she was asking about the Elfsong Tavern from Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. |
| #12818DELTADec 11, 2009 8:04:23 | Uk, you might want to provide a hint.![]() |
| #129The_SilverswordDec 12, 2009 1:44:02 | Ive been lookin all over the Realms and i cant find him, Ive been lookin for the guy awhile now, an 11 fingered man killed my father! |
| #13018DELTADec 12, 2009 8:46:51 | Hint: You are looking in the wrong place... |
| #131ukplayerxDec 13, 2009 5:42:52 | Sorry it took so long - i was recovering from a 'bad pint' (in other words - a hangover) HINT: To boldly go where no adventurer has gone before.....or is that to cryptic? |
| #132gomeztooDec 13, 2009 10:40:35 | My guess is the Rock of Bral (though that may not be specific enough even if it is correct). That's just a guess based on the hints. I have no sourcebook. But it fits. Gomez |
| #133ukplayerxDec 13, 2009 11:18:11 | In the style of Roy Walker from 'Catchphrase' it's a good guess.... you are on the right lines. Rock of Bral was NOT a FRCS official sourcebook, however.... does that mean i have to think of ANOTHER question? SHEESH! LOL |
| #134gomeztooDec 13, 2009 11:29:17 | I dunno. Delta accepted the question, he's the judge right? And Bral is in Realmspace. Does that mean I won? That would be a first. Or does anyone actually have the reference? Gomez |
| #135ukplayerxDec 13, 2009 13:10:28 | The Rock of Bral was a Spelljammer adventure/supplement placeable in ANY d&d campaign Setting.. so...nope..not Rock of Bral. ;) HINT: 9312 |
| #136The_SilverswordDec 13, 2009 13:57:05 | Ahhh no wonder i cant find him, ive been looking in all the wrong places! Need to power up my Spelljammer, I'll be back! |
| #137ukplayerxDec 13, 2009 14:56:36 | I'll be back! BRING IT ON!!!!!! LOL |
| #138The_SilverswordDec 13, 2009 15:52:58 | Ah ha! I finally found the little bugger, now at last i can have my revenge!!! He seems to have mended his ways though, so i guess i'll let him live. Savion can be found aboard an unpdated Scorpion ship called the Gauntlet, flying around the Tears of Selune taking out space slavers. Realmspace pg 60 Next question: This one is a visual challange! I just changed my avatar. What symbol is it? ![]() |
| #139Nai_CalusDec 13, 2009 15:56:45 | Eilistraee's old holy symbol from 2e is my first thought, though I have no idea where the hell the reference is from. |
| #140The_SilverswordDec 13, 2009 16:02:31 | Eilistraee's old holy symbol from 2e is my first thought, though I have no idea where the hell the reference is from. Damn! Youre good! I thought for sure it would take awhile for someone to figure that out, being as most people are more familiar with the newer 3e one. The reference would be Demihuman Deities. So its your turn, ask a question. |
| #141ukplayerxDec 13, 2009 16:27:28 | Ah ha! I finally found the little bugger, now at last i can have my revenge!!! WELL DONE!! |
| #142Nai_CalusDec 13, 2009 20:07:15 | Fairly easy one. What organization does Torynnar Rhaevaern belong to, and what's special about him in it? T_S: Yeah I remembered her symbol involving a bastard sword in front of a full moon so my first thought was 'Eilistraee'. I don't remember DD having a drawing of her symbol, then again, I've been working off a PDF of it since my physical copy is still packed, and I know there's differences between the PDF and the real book(Like the PDF being missing all the art except for the plates showing the priests) |
| #143lord_karsusDec 13, 2009 23:38:54 | -Torynnar Rhaevaern is an Elven Baelnorn who was one of the founding members of the Eldreth Veluuthra, and a member of their "inner circle", the 'Blade Lords'. -Question: What two groups were the primary 'actors' in the Battle of Big Hat Mountain? |
| #144ukplayerxDec 15, 2009 10:04:54 | I googled this: www.atlas.ca.gov/quads/41119d8_BIG_HAT%2... I'm way out - aren't I? ![]() |
| #14518DELTADec 15, 2009 13:38:04 | ![]() |
| #146lord_karsusDec 15, 2009 15:02:38 | -Yeah, wrong Big Hat Mountain. -Alright, a clue: One of the two groups is known for being a violent, militaristic culture. |
| #147StiggerDec 15, 2009 16:12:17 | Yeah, there's definitely a shortage of those in the Realms... ![]() |
| #148lord_karsusDec 16, 2009 16:53:13 | -Alright, another clue: That same warrior culture has a population that straddles two continents. |
| #14918DELTADec 16, 2009 19:50:06 | Let me guess, MarkusTay63 would know the answer.![]() I would know if you would pm me the answer like everybody eles does. ![]() ;) |
| #150ZireaelDec 17, 2009 4:01:46 | "Straddling two continents"? Flaming Fist or Jaguar Guard. I think the second one fits better to the rest of the hint. |
| #151Doombringer_of_HoarDec 17, 2009 11:10:06 | I'm going to take a guess, dragonborn versus the genasi? |
| #152lord_karsusDec 17, 2009 18:32:35 | -Delta, if I send you the answer, you'd be disqualified. You should be able to play, too. -Both of the above guesses are incorrect. -Another clue: Of the one warrior culture that straddles two continents, one can say that they are, ahem, 'Horselords'. |
| #153Doombringer_of_HoarDec 17, 2009 21:59:24 | -Another clue: Of the one warrior culture that straddles two continents, one can say that they are, ahem, 'Horselords'. Ah ok I think I know who you mean there, but I'm not sure about the other side. I'm going to go flip through some books and see if the answer presents itself. |
| #154ukplayerxDec 18, 2009 3:24:04 | -Delta, if I send you the answer, you'd be disqualified. You should be able to play, too. Horeslords, eh? So I reckon it's the Rohirrim and the Uruk-hai! So the source is Riders of Rohan. Am I right? ONLY KIDDING!!! Does anybody know? Let's get this one nailed before Chrimbo. I agree with Karsus, Delta should be able to play. |
| #155The_SilverswordDec 18, 2009 4:13:41 | Well Lord Karsus gave a hell of a hint there. |
| #156ZireaelDec 18, 2009 4:30:51 | Uh... the Tuigan and Azoun IV's army? |
| #157The_SilverswordDec 18, 2009 5:33:07 | Uh... the Tuigan and Azoun IV's army? I think the first part is right, but they didnt fight Azoun's Army until book 3 IIRC, Im going to have to reread that novel again damnit! I was hoping there would be something in the Horde box set, but nope. |
| #158lord_karsusDec 18, 2009 20:11:35 | -The Tuigan were one group, correct. The Tuigan and the Crusade did not engage in the Battle of Big Hat Mountain, however. |
| #15918DELTADec 20, 2009 0:02:57 | Markus would know this.![]() |
| #160The_SilverswordDec 20, 2009 3:31:30 | I'll get it eventually, I know its got to be in this novel somewhere. Whats messed up is I know Ive read this novel before, but I dont remember anything about the Battle of Big Hat mountain. |
| #161lord_karsusDec 20, 2009 15:12:18 | -I'll give one more day, but if no one gets it, I'll just move on to another question. |
| #162The_SilverswordDec 20, 2009 21:43:18 | -I'll give one more day, but if no one gets it, I'll just move on to another question. If its in that novel i'll get it, eventually! But i havnt come across a refference to Big hat Mountain yet! Its probably near the end of the book, ill start reading from there! |
| #163lord_karsusDec 20, 2009 21:56:04 | -I'll give one more day, but if no one gets it, I'll just move on to another question. -That'll be my last clue, then. It's not that far into the book. ;) |
| #164The_SilverswordDec 21, 2009 6:26:18 | Ah ok i got it! Readin thru the book and i came to this part. "Goyuk Khan lost most his teeth at the battle of Big Hat Mountain, fighting the Zamogedi" |
| #165ukplayerxDec 21, 2009 6:56:53 | I'm pretty sure on this one, but seen as it's only been posted 30 mins i'll wait... |
| #16618DELTADec 21, 2009 7:46:18 | Great stuff! |
| #167lord_karsusDec 21, 2009 19:33:32 | -The Zamogedi are a tribe who inhabit the northern steppes of the Endless Wastes, seemingly descendents of the Imaskari. Traditionally speaking, they are allies of the Gur and the Naican. -Someone else can ask a question; I don't have any. |
| #168The_SilverswordDec 21, 2009 21:55:20 | -The Zamogedi are a tribe who inhabit the northern steppes of the Endless Wastes, seemingly descendents of the Imaskari. Traditionally speaking, they are allies of the Gur and the Naican. HEY! You just asked a question! You are supposed to wait before answering another one! And of course youre gonna know the answer to that one. Of course maybe I could of come up with a more original question, instead of following up on yours. Still though, After figuring out it was the Zamogedi who was involved in the battle of Big Hat Mountain, I was curious about them and read up on them, Which was a pretty interesting read, so I thought they warranted their own question. But I'll come up with a new , unrelated question. What was the name of the area known as the Battle of Bones, before the Battle of Bones? And LK, youre not allowed to answer this one for at least 5 days! |

Hey Rules are Rules!!! |

| #173The_SilverswordDec 22, 2009 6:10:50 | Silver, I think you owe LK a great big apology. Oh!, Sorry LK! It didnt seem that long! So does LK hold the record so far for the longest stumper? But any way LK didnt post a new question (theres got to be a rule about that aint there!? )So does my last question still count? or has it been disqualified? Why dont you answer it Delta, and post a question? |
| #17418DELTADec 22, 2009 11:29:30 | Well he did ask that somebody else ask a question.;) You asked a question, so your question is still on the floor. ![]() Now Silver before you come 'un-glued' again make sure you are right! ![]() :-p |
| #175The_SilverswordDec 22, 2009 15:08:10 |
I wasnt unglued!! I just misunderstood the rules, I thought it was a 5 day waiting period starting from the time the question was answered. I got it now. And I apologized. Water under the bridge so to speak. So lets get on with the Trivia! and Ill keep my mouth shut. What was the name of the area known as the Battle of Bones, before the Battle of Bones? |
| #176TheriseDec 22, 2009 20:23:21 | Such shocking treatment towards a fellow RP'er over Christmas! Shocking! Well, after Santa's elves were retconned, they stopped making toys. They build dark, evil cities in the Feywild now and plot violence against each other. |
| #177ukplayerxDec 23, 2009 13:26:31 |
BUMP - clue!!!! |
| #178The_SilverswordDec 24, 2009 2:36:27 | OK a clue, Its from a sourcebook that everyone should have free access to. |
| #179ukplayerxDec 24, 2009 5:25:14 | Thanx SS - that reminded me. I downloaded all those ages ago and saved to a DVD-RW!! Only Ao knows where it is!! Thanx again ;) EDIT: found said DVD, opened the four pdf's i thought it was in. Nope!! looks like i'll have to search ALL the files!!! |
| #180ukplayerxDec 24, 2009 5:59:29 | I think this is a trick question designed by The SS to keep us frantically reading 1/2/3e versions of anything remotley linked to FRCS, therefore making us realise that some of these OOP sourcebooks contain wonderful info which make us think 'Hey, that's a useful map/scenario/character/town etc' i'll just print off those few pages and then cause us to forget about the question...... |
| #181The_SilverswordDec 24, 2009 6:03:40 |
Am I that obvious? There is a sourcebook in there that has the answer, The name of it should be a good indication which one it is, I dont think its actually named on that page though... |

Wrong! ![]() ;) |
| #196TheriseDec 31, 2009 8:42:41 | He's right, if you're referring to the original ruins. The ruined foundations were left behind when Empress Ususi moved most of the palace to the TARDIS... I mean, Skyclave, in High Imaskar. She rules Skyclave, and Zonaggati rules over the original ruins. (And incidentally, how insane of a mage does one have to be in order to create an interdimensionally larger-on-the-inside city-in-a-tower and put it in Mulhorand, when it was one of the places affected most by the spellplague and Abeir's switcheroo. | #218ImruphelJan 09, 2010 18:12:18 | I knew from the Ike clue that the source was Cities of Mystery... but that's one product I don't have in my collection! Never mind. Maskyr's Eye: Of old, the Archmage Maskyr explored these lands, which were still new to humankind, and come upon this valley. It was to his liking, and he thought to make a home there. In those days the land around the mountains was controlled by the dwarves, and the king of these dwarves was Tuir, Blood of Helban, who made his throne deep beneath Mount Grimmerfang, which the dwarven people had wrested from Orc King Grimmerfang. Tuir, not wanting to give up any land to these newly arrived humans, gruffly stated that the dwarves would grant the valley to the archmage if Maskyr gave his right eye to Tuir right then and there. Maskyr, to the astonishment of Tuir's court, did so. The bargain was kept, and Maskyr lived happily in the tale that now bears his name. My question: Where could you find a dwarf vampire, a mummy assassin and a medusa vampire in the same place? |
| #219ZireaelJan 10, 2010 4:20:54 | The Boneyard, Underdark? At least the dwarf vamp is there for sure. |

| #227gomeztooJan 13, 2010 14:12:26 | I don't have any material containing Uthegenthal. My assumption though is that it is for the same reason Ryld Argith does: to prevent people from grabbing his hair in combat. Edit: was I right? |
| #228ukplayerxJan 14, 2010 4:55:26 | I don't have any material containing Uthegenthal. NOPE!! Rumors say that Uthegentel, weapon master of House Barrison Del'Armgo, once secretly challenged Zaknafein to a duel. Always willing to oblige, Zaknafein met the crazed warrior in private, outside the city's boundaries. Both returned alive, but Uthegentel, once sporting a marvelous shock of hair, ever-after kept his head shaved. Whispers (VERY soft whispers) say that this was the price Zaknafein demanded to accept Uthegentel's surrender. | #241ImruphelJan 24, 2010 5:43:35 | Would that be the pact that Ilitran Starym made with Moander so he could fool the Starym moonblade, his family and the coronal? (That includes two of my favourite Realmslore subjects: Moander and House Starym.) What is the name of the cleric, apparently of Talos, who actually serves Shar and Cyric? |

Finder gave Ilsensine a recursive song, a tuneful little ditty in which the last verse leads directly back into the first, forming a closed loop. Ilsensine couldn't get it out of his head and with his powerful brain, couldn't stop thinking about it and it spead to his priests. Finder's Bane pg 276-277. Imagine having "I'm Henry the VII, I am I am" stuck in your head. |

I am sure that the author was thinking of Mickey when he included that part in the novel. And it really is amazing what an effect mentioning Mickey has on people over a certain age! Now, on with the question: What is the formal title of Dalchatha Maereegh? |

| #277ImruphelFeb 15, 2010 1:41:42 | As the only clue on Google you will find is in another language, I think the answer to this question might be a tad obscure so shall I provide the answer and pass the baton to another? |
| #278The_SilverswordFeb 15, 2010 2:40:01 | As the only clue on Google you will find is in another language, I think the answer to this question might be a tad obscure so shall I provide the answer and pass the baton to another? Im not ready to throw in the towel just yet, Is this one novel specific? or you say its a tad obscure? That makes me think of old Dragon articles. OK im off to the garage to dig out old Dragon Magazines. |
| #279The_SilverswordFeb 15, 2010 3:00:49 | Ahhh, I just checked google, and yes its in another language, but it does say Moander. That right! now I remember who Mogion was, she was the head of the Cult of Moander, so I just need to figure out what her title was, Im assuming that it was passed on. OK well then im off to read up on Moander, or possibly trying to figure out what language that is so i can get it translated. Looks Italian. |
| #280The_SilverswordFeb 15, 2010 3:23:00 | Yup it was Italian, got it translated: "From the death of Mogion with the destruction of Yulash, The Mouth was Dalchatha Maereegh an old hags, once blinding beauty that dwells in the clearing hidden somewhere in the woods of Chondal near Torsh." So Im going with her official title has being the Mouth of Moander. Final Answer! |
| #281ImruphelFeb 16, 2010 7:16:16 | Mouth of Moander is correct. Moander is probably my favourite FR deity of all time. He/it will feature in my next big FR4E campaign. I've been wanting to feature him/it for years and, as this will probably be the last campaign I ever run, I want to make sure he/it is included. |
| #282The_SilverswordFeb 16, 2010 18:24:59 | Awesome! Yes Moander is one of the more interesting "Lost" gods, by 4e standards he/it may even be a primordial. And yeah if its going to be the last game you run definitely go out with bang! I plan on to keep running games until they nail my coffin shut. But any way time for a new question: Who was Baldur's Gate named after? and no it wasnt Baldur. |

| #289Nai_CalusFeb 18, 2010 14:04:40 | I have to ask a question now, don't I. What is the 'death card', and where can it be found? |
| #290The_SilverswordFeb 19, 2010 8:14:08 |
Thats easy, the Death Card is the Ace of Spades, or wait they use Talis decks in the Realms, so then the Death card would be....uhm not a clue....Myrkul? |
| #291Nai_CalusFeb 19, 2010 11:48:38 | It's an actual card, as a hint. You don't want to see it come up. |
| #292The_SilverswordFeb 19, 2010 12:26:45 | Imbaffled. Am I on the right track with the Talis deck? Or no wait, its a Deck of Many Things! Or no wait, thats not Realms specific. Is there a Realms specific Deck of Many Things? |
| #293Nai_CalusFeb 19, 2010 13:32:32 | It's not restricted to a specific deck of cards, though it is restricted to a specific location. |
| #294The_SilverswordFeb 19, 2010 23:56:12 | Ahhhh, restricted to a specific location! I'm still baffled, now even more so! But any way after rereading the rules, I am supposed to wait a full five days before answering another question, so really I shouldnt even be trying to answer this one, which is ok cause I have no clue what the answer is. And ok I just checked and it HAS been 5 days since I last answered a question, so I'm good to go! of course I'm still clueless here. So that doesnt really help anyways. |

|
| #296The_SilverswordFeb 22, 2010 4:23:30 | Funny thing happend to me yesterday, I tend to spend alot of time in Waterdeep, ussualy in my favorite pub The Crawling Spider, but last time I was there some one slipped some Drow poison in my drink, luckily for me years of ingesting the stuff has given me an immunity of sorts to the stuff, but still, I don't like to be poisoned, so I felt it was time to find a new favorite bar, so I'm strolling through the streets of Waterdeep and I come across the Gentle Mermaid, hey who doesn't like Mermaids, so I decide to give it a try. Good sized place, also a gambling house and a Festhall to boot! So I get me a drink, not poisoned, so I take that as a good sign. So I check out the gaming tables, lots of Dice games goin on, but I prefer card games, dice is merly a game of luck, cards is a game of skill, but I can't find any one willing to play, and they all look at me like I've grown an extra head evertime I ask about it. Finally I meet some like minded individuals who are also suprised at the lack of any card games going on, so we decide to get a game going on, Sembian Hold Em to be exact, My favorite card game and one that I am quite good at, of course I don't let that on though, so any ways we get the card game going on, and all the regulars in the place suddenly shift to the far sides of the gaming chamber like we all have Sharrot or something, The locals obviously have something against cards or something. Any way, we play a few hands and I'm coming out ahead. My turn to deal, I've been keeping my eyes on the cards, as I shuffle, I make sure that the Rogue, and the Miser are on the bottom of the deck, trying to go for a Sembian Flush. Another reason I like cards is that it's far easier to cheat at than Dice, I mean you can have loaded dice sure, or magic, but those are easily detected, with cards, a little slight of hand goes a long way. Any way I deal out the players cards, and the 5 community cards all from the top of the deck of course, mine I take from the bottom, no one seems to notice, excellent! The Community cards are The Merchant, The Artifact, The Tax Collector, The Thief, and The Beggar, so If I pull this off right I'll have my Sembian Flush! So I check my cards, The Rogue! yes! If I got the Miser I got this game, but no I don't get the miser I get a card I've never seen before, A laughing skull on a black field, A chilling laugh is heard and suddenly a Wraith pops out of the card with a scythe swinging it wildly, at me even! Luckily a well placed Magic Missle did the thing in, or I would not be here now to tell the tale. So any way the locals in the bar freak out yelling at us for bringing the "Hooded Death" down on them and we was all kicked out rather roughly by the city watch and told never to set foot on the premises again! So it seems I still have to find a new favorite pub in Waterdeep. Ok so yeah I could of just gave a simple answer, but this just seemed a funner way to go about it, that and I'm bored. But theres the answer, found out the hard way! Next Question: Where would be the best place to score some Ginyak Weed? |
| #29718DELTAFeb 22, 2010 8:00:48 | Nice. So where did you find it? |
| #298The_SilverswordFeb 22, 2010 9:02:18 | The Gentle Mermaid in Waterdeep obviously! Oh you mean the source, Volo's guide to Waterdeep pg 86. |

I would say Waterdeep, you can find anything in Waterdeep. |
| #302The_SilverswordFeb 23, 2010 11:32:03 | True Im sure you could find some in Waterdeep, but you would be paying way too much for it, and Im willing to bet that it is considered an illicit substance there, so no Waterdeep would not be the best place to get some Ginyak weed. | #311gomeztooFeb 25, 2010 0:24:17 | Well, Volo and Aurora the Eclectic (Aurora's Whole Reams Catalogue, p122) seem to agree - mostly - on the location. Aurora refers to 'marshes bordering Cormyr and Sembia' - the Farsea Marshes do not border Sembia, but I am guessing Volo was more accurate here. |
| #312Lord_ToastFeb 25, 2010 6:43:24 | Well, Volo and Aurora the Eclectic (Aurora's Whole Reams Catalogue, p122) seem to agree - mostly - on the location. Aurora refers to 'marshes bordering Cormyr and Sembia' - the Farsea Marshes do not border Sembia, but I am guessing Volo was more accurate here. Aurora could have been protecting her sources. Anyways here is my question: The Game of Masks is held in which city? |
| #313ukplayerxFeb 25, 2010 15:44:30 | The Game of Maks is held in the City of Raven's Bluff - pg 91 of the sourcebook. next question... What are the languages Ignan and Loross required entry for? |
| #314ukplayerxFeb 27, 2010 4:59:32 | Hint #1: The answer can be found in an urban sourcebook (without checking back thorugh this forum, wasn't my last question based on an urban sourcebook? |
| #315The_SilverswordFeb 27, 2010 15:30:03 | Well my waiting period is over so I can jump back in and answer! Of course I dont know! But hmmm an urban source book you say? I happen to have a few of those laying around. I'll be back! |

| #318The_SilverswordFeb 28, 2010 6:03:25 | Ahhh a prestige class, why didnt you say so? Well ok lets see, theyre obviously a nasty lot. All members need to be able to communicate with fire elementals and Netherese? Sounds evil to me! Sounds like a cabal of Necromancers. Oh wait here it is! found it! Waterdeep: City of Speldors pg 88. What the hey? Sun Soul Monk? Must follow Lathander, Selune, or Sune? I thought for sure this would be an EVIL orginization, not goody goodies. Why would they need to speak Ignan and Loross? OOOHHHHH IC. Its based off of the worship of old Amaunator, so ok Ignan, Fire- the Sun, and he was an old Netheril god so ok yeah Loross. Ok it makes sense to me now, learn something new everyday. And I just checked and by 4e standards I could join, I do know Ignan (Primordial) and Loross (Netherese), and I would be willing to take Hanali as my patron deity, hmmmmmm... So Final Answer: Sun Soul Monk Next Question: Who is the current god of Vigilance? |

I suppose this means a question from me? Something easy I think. Question: What wizards spell, bearing the name of it's iconic creator, has been translated through each edition since it's appearance, and allows it's caster to swap spells for health? |
| #321phelf_der_zemitFeb 28, 2010 18:51:20 | Deep down I knew it was the Simbul. But all I could remember was her handy dandy spell matrix, which wasn't right. Cracking open one of the many leather bound books in my apartment which smells of rich mahogany though reminded me. Final Answer: Simbul's Synostodweomer Question: This one might be hard, but it's my first question so I thought it would be nice to be memoriable. What special quality or more appropiatly, what gives the special qualities to the monks whom are faithful to Mask and Everis Cale in his second trilogy dubbed The Twilight War? |
| #322red_wizardFeb 28, 2010 20:28:57 | If I understand the rules (I'll be honest, I only skimmed things), I can't answer this can I? |
| #323phelf_der_zemitFeb 28, 2010 20:51:40 | It would seem so. But you can PM me with what you think is the answer if you wish. |
| #324The_SilverswordMar 02, 2010 19:31:49 | I'm suprised this question hasnt been answered yet, I havnt read those books, yet, but I still have a guess, although I still have a few more days to wait before im eligible to respond. But with all the talk on these boards about those novels I had assumed that lots of people on there have read those books, and would know the answer! So all you Cale fans out there, you should know this one!!! |
| #325gomeztooMar 03, 2010 0:32:51 | I think it's in Shadowbred, but I lend out that novel... I think the monks where shadar-kai, but I don't recall where they came from. |

| #368gomeztooMar 28, 2010 7:01:17 | The Most High's wife was the Lady Alashar. (Shadowrealm, page 92) I originally thought to ask a LFR-based question, but I think the rules prohibit that? So another one: Who banished Caelynna to the Realms, and from where? Gomez |
| #36918DELTAMar 28, 2010 8:27:07 | Great question! |

| #389The_SilverswordApr 09, 2010 0:59:39 | It's good enough for me. Ahh ok, I havnt made it that far in the book yet, Im glad that they give more specifics on her banishment, I was afraid they was going to keep it vague. From what ive read so far its a pretty good story, and the monks definitely kick some a$$! Thanks Gomez, if it wasnt for you askin that question I probably wouldnt have read this one. Next question: If I was in the City of Saffron, which city would I be in? Well theres no rule against using google, Delta may change that? It would be kind of hard though to prove wether or not some one used google or not. And to be perfectly honest, ive used google a time or two myself. The Key? hmmmmmmm sounds like a planar adventure, wasnt there an adventure that tied in with Planescape and the Infinite Staircase? I'll be back! Later... OK im back the adventure I was thinking of is For Duty and Deity, and there is reference in that one to a key, lots of keys actually, power keys, spell keys, door keys, even a monkey. None of these though I think are specific enough to be "The Key" of which you speak. Looking through my collection of Adventures I realize that i dont hardly have any, I never did buy too many of those, I always found it more fun to make up my own with the material provided in the Sourcebooks, but lookin back now I should of really picked more of them up, they do sneak some interesting lore in there and some of the maps are pretty cool, I was flippin through that Shadowdale adventure (not the ToT one, the 3.x one that ties in with Cormyr the Tearing of the Weave) while at my FLGS. Its got some pretty cool maps of Shadowdale and the surrounding area in there, I may just head back there and pick that up once i get paid. Oh im getting off topic here.OK im gonna go with the key is a mummified monkey paw? is that right? I didnt think so. |
| #410gomeztooApr 20, 2010 1:40:02 | I don't have a lot of 2nd ed adventures either, but apparently I did have this one.... but I had filed it under 'Ravenloft' rather than 'FR'. I only thought of it when I went through a list of 2nd ed FR adventures. The Key is from Castle Spulzeer (page 61). It is a broadsword +2, specifically enchanted to neutralize specific wards in the adventure. It is ancient and covered in rust. New question: Who led the Risen Cult of Bane? Gomez |

| #424gomeztooApr 28, 2010 10:19:47 | No, we are talking about a mortal here. Talos is not likely to be found as a high priest of Bane... :P |
| #42518DELTAApr 28, 2010 13:15:28 | No, we are talking about a mortal here. Well he is Gruumsh now so... ![]() ;) |
| #426ImruphelApr 29, 2010 0:04:44 | Gauntather, the "Dark Druid", was the leader of the Risen Cult of Bane in the Moonshae Isles according to page 38 of Halls of the High King. (I actually stole all the names out of the adventure some time ago for some other clerics of Bane in another campaign which is why I knew this.) What was a "righteous potentate"? |
| #427The_SilverswordApr 29, 2010 2:34:54 | Ahhh, well i didnt really think it was Talos, but i figured what the hey it was worth a shot. And a righteous potentate? hmmmmm... im not even sure what a potentate is? ... okay after looking up potentate i see it is a ruler, so a rightous ruler? and the question is what is, not who is, so its not a specific person but a title. So im thinking its a leader of some religious order. Rightous leads me to bellieve that its an order of good...hmmmm but which one? ... I'll be back! *goes off to read thru Faiths & Avatars* |
| #42818DELTAApr 29, 2010 7:47:38 | Gauntather, the "Dark Druid", was the leader of the Risen Cult of Bane in the Moonshae Isles according to page 38 of Halls of the High King. Correct according to the PM Gomez sent me. Plus I have a PDF copy. Interesting fella... So will you PM me the answer to your question or am I still on your ignore list?;) |

| #430The_SilverswordMay 01, 2010 5:22:22 | Ah ha! I got it!, but i feel kinda shady about it cause i wouldnt of found it if it wasnt for ukplayerX. So im gonna hold off on answering it and let him (or someone else) get this one. |
| #431ukplayerxMay 01, 2010 11:46:09 | nah! go ahead Ss - i'm to busy to look for the actual reference! |

| #434ukplayerxMay 03, 2010 5:45:36 | Question + 24 Hours = Hint #1 - The adventure was released in 1988 |
| #435The_SilverswordMay 03, 2010 8:35:46 | Damn! I should of just answered it, Your question is too tough! But its from an adventure from 1988? hmmm thats an early one, off to go look through my meager collection of adventures. |
| #436The_SilverswordMay 03, 2010 18:10:28 | Well looking around at adventures published in 1988, the only one i have is Ruins of Adventure, and he aint in there, but I see Swords of The Iron Legion (I14) was released in that year, so im going to take a guess here and say that Bren Goldenbeard lead the Iron Legion? |
| #437ukplayerxMay 04, 2010 14:12:21 | close, but no ceeeeegaaar ![]() |
| #438ukplayerxMay 04, 2010 14:15:11 | Damn! I should of just answered it, Your question is too tough! Sorry, that's what happens when your monitor stops working for two weeks - all i did was read old stuff or pdf's!! ..and i make up for it with decent hints IMO!!! |

| #440ImruphelMay 05, 2010 20:44:39 | (snip) (...and a 'Righteous Potentate' is an overseer/high priest for the Church of Amaunator - Winds of Netheril pg 35) Correct, and the other source is Faiths & Avatars. (Sorry for the slow confirmation. I forgot I had a question here!) |
| #44118DELTAMay 05, 2010 21:50:35 | ( snip) So will you PM me the answer to your question or am I still on your ignore list?;) I sent a 'Friendship Request' to you awhile back. ![]() I got a message back saying you had me blocked.;) No harm, no foul. | #442ImruphelMay 06, 2010 0:27:23 | I sent a 'Friendship Request' to you awhile back. Oops. you may be right. There was a stage when you and LK threadcrapped (sorry!) in every single thread so I just put both of you on ignore for a period of time. |

| #444ImruphelMay 06, 2010 3:14:39 | I remember when I had around 25 people on ignore... At the risk of threadcrapping one post after I mentioned threadcrapping, I will say feel free to put me on ignore. After all, it's only fair. ;) OK, I better answer the questions. Bren Goldenbeard was the leader of 1st Dwarven Air Cavalary in Sword of the Iron Legion, not to be confused with Bren Wingblade, commander of the Windriders in the same adventure. As the previous question was my own, perhaps someone else could take a turn? |

Im not that young, its just been years and years since ive seen that show. Which implies the question: What are the Doomstars? Not Doomstones! Doomstars! Stars!! And I cant beleive that theres more interest in the Doomstars than in Elminster's Enchanted Undergarments! But I'll go ahead a give some info on the Doomstars with out , I hope, giving away the answer. four spherical stones of winking pale blue radiance, trailing motes of light as they orbited the bracer whose mighty spells tied them together, focusing their power into a weapon no shapeshifter could withstand. The slightest touch of the rays—a dozen or more at a time—could hold a Malaugrym unmoving, a powerless captive. . Properly wielded, the Doomstar rays could force a shapeshifter into any form the wielder chose, from worm to mushroom, and bind the victim in that form forever by stripping away the power to shapeshift. |
| #45918DELTAMay 08, 2010 19:17:58 | It also goes with the Crown of Shadows. |
| #460gomeztooMay 09, 2010 3:50:58 | I don't have many Elminster books (yet). The only one with Elm in it are Silverfall and Swords of Dragonfire/The Sword Never Sleeps. And there are not doomstars on there. Or Elminster underwear, for that matter. He probably goes commando in those novels... Hmm. I do think I know which trilogy they are in though. |

| #464The_SilverswordMay 09, 2010 7:27:39 | The Magical Undergarments are out of left-field in Cloak of Shadows. I was just about to say the same thing. That whole scene really added nothing to the book and just brought up more questions, like what was Hoar up to? We have to go back and read Powers and Pantheons to find out. Im thinking that TSR told Ed that he had to have at least one scene in there dealing with an avatar of one of the gods. Who knows? That whole bit with Ao was pretty whacked out too, but amusing. Doomstars, Doomstones, Doomsages, Doomsons, Doomsun, Doomspoons, Doomswords!! They're all the same - the all bring DOOM... I want to hear more about the Doomspoons! |

| #468The_SilverswordMay 10, 2010 1:22:47 | Would someone answear the question...and can the next one not be module base...I never owned a module. Fine, I'll go ahead and answer this one just to keep the ball moving here, but I still feel funny about it because Delta and I were talking about this over at Candlekeep, so he knows that I know the answer, although it is possible that he thought I was just making up the whole bit about Elminsters Magical Underwear and didnt actually read that book. The Answer is The Human Wizard Malaug, first of the Malaugrym created the Doomstars. Not sure specifically what page its on but its from the Novel Cloak of Shadows by Ed Greenwood. And next question: What book lists Sharess as being a CG aspect of Shar? |
| #46918DELTAMay 10, 2010 1:46:43 | You are correct Silver. Pages 19 and 20 of Cloak of Shadows. It's the first time I have read the Shadows of the Avatar Series. |
| #470The_SilverswordMay 10, 2010 2:33:19 |
You are correct goldomark, That was pretty fast, you know its kinda funny when i first got on here, one of the first discussions i participated in was about Shar and her aspects and I brought up the fact that I remembered Sharess being listed as one of her aspects although I couldnt remeber the source at the time, every one laughed at me and even threatened to burn me at the stake for such heresy. Heh but there it is, whos laughing now ![]() The floor, as they say, is yours. |
| #471ukplayerxMay 10, 2010 14:29:52 | Doomspoons: minor artifacts found throughout the planet of Toril. Non-descript sliver spoons with a rose motif on the handle. Anyone using a Doomspoon does not know they have one in their possession until it is used to stir (Earl Grey) tea, it CAN be used to drink/eat soup, desserts, or any other culinery dish. However, the chemicals found in tea activate their magical quality - instantly making the tea taste sweet...but poisonous. Death swiftly follows. (Another artifact created during a 'quiet moment' when we waited for the DM to find a certain page in a MM, module or their own notes) |
| #472The_SilverswordMay 12, 2010 6:13:56 | Undermountain! Hells yeah, I should know this one, but I dont. Im gonna have to reread up on Undermountain, but not enough time has elapsed for me to legally answer this one any way. |

| #478The_SilverswordMay 13, 2010 20:07:47 | all three? I thought it was only two? Well I guess im off to read some more! Ah yes, what is it , what does it do, and what is it missing. I was only focusing on the what is and what does it do. |
| #47918DELTAMay 13, 2010 22:19:23 | Ok, folks I got this idea from Candlekeep. I am starting this thread to try and generate some activity on THIS forum. I will moderate this thread, so I don't mind off topic banter, but let's try and stay on topic...ok? Please see point #2. ![]() |
| #480The_SilverswordMay 13, 2010 23:21:55 |
Ok I think I got it, I had to reread it several times before i realized what is missing (even though it sayis right there plain as day). But as Delta pointed out, I still have a day to wait before im eligible to answer it. That should give some one else the opportunity to answer. |
| #481The_SilverswordMay 14, 2010 1:02:47 | Delta, man. You were are rebel, man. Now you a square, man? Yes, he has turned away from the glory that is Cyric! |
| #482gomeztooMay 14, 2010 2:19:47 | I'm reading Waterdeep at the moment, and I yet can't see why Cyric was divine material. Or Kelemvor, for that matter. They are just guys that let their hormones do the talking, while Midnight is moping why they can't just all get along (to be honest, she sounds a lot like one of my PCs). As to Undermountain: I have nothing on that. Gomez |
| #483The_SilverswordMay 15, 2010 2:53:53 | I'm reading Waterdeep at the moment, and I yet can't see why Cyric was divine material. Or Kelemvor, for that matter. You really need to read Crucible. I think Cyric really shines in that one. Its book 5 of the Avatar trilogy, yes its a 5 part trilogy. Book 4 would be Prince of Lies, also a good book, but Lord Cyric gets royaly screwed in that one! But any way as for the answer to the Trivia Question, It is: It is a spell designed by Priamon "Frostrune" Rakesk of the Twisted Rune. The spell sends a glowing ball of energy toward a target and wraps the creature in magical bonds designed to specifically fetter wizards and prevent spellcasting. The magical energy of the bond are tied directly to the victim's life force, making it very dangerous to disrupt. The spell forms globes of energy around the victim's extremities, hands and feet, but not the head. So thats what its missing a head restraint. Did I get it? Close enough? |
| #484The_SilverswordMay 15, 2010 7:33:15 | Just in case I'm right, I'm going to go ahead and post a question: What and where is Muzhujaarnadah? |
| #485The_SilverswordMay 15, 2010 21:15:13 | The material component is what is missing (at the beginning of the spell the components are listed has V,S,M, but when you read the spell it is never mentionned) and you forgot to mentionned that the spell was used to restrain Halaster Blackcloak. Ahhh ok, I wasnt sure what you meant by what it was missing, I must of read that spell 20 times and couldnt figure it out but then I noticed it specifically pointed out that it restrained the hands and feet, but not the head so I was thinking the head restraint was what you meant by what was missing. But yeah good point they dont say what the material component was, they also dont bother telling you what the verbal and somatic component was either, but they never did. Im guessing they left that out because they didnt intend for pcs to actually get access to the spell, but it would be a handy one to have. |
| #48618DELTAMay 16, 2010 2:09:05 | Well Clatto Verata Nicto, could do or Klaatu Barada Nikto, would also be acceptable Now if the Army of Darkness over-runs this thread I am holding you responsible for it Goldomark. ![]() |

| #488The_SilverswordMay 16, 2010 20:37:15 | Has enough time elapse for me to answer, lets say tomorrow? yeah, your question was like 6 days ago, so yeah you can answer it. |
| #48918DELTAMay 17, 2010 16:31:00 | Correct! It's in the Calimport supplement(2E) by Steven Schend. |
| #490The_SilverswordMay 17, 2010 23:39:38 | Excellent Goldomark! I thought that would of lasted a little longer, and I thought for sure my hint about the City of Shadow would mislead people into thinking it was Skuld. For anyone wanting to read more about Muzhujaarnadah, Its on page 7 of the Calimport book avaiable as a free download, some interesting stuff in there, used it manya time myself. www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/do... |

| #494gomeztooMay 23, 2010 13:46:23 | I can't find anything on Beherit or Rathguul in the material I have, but I expect it is 2nd ed from which I don't have much. Going by personality, the association (in a way) with blue dragons, and the likelyness of dealing with an evil divine power who recently ascended, I would say Iyachtyu Xvim. Xvim is pretty ugly but can appear as a handsome lad - though I am unaware of any limitations. I'm probably wrong though (I have the nasty feeling I should know this... that last hint sounds familiar). |
| #495johnkretzerMay 24, 2010 2:43:45 | Gargauth. Page 22 from the 2nd ed FR book Powers & Pantheon. Where can you find a human male named Flame and why would seek him out? |

| #497Doombringer_of_HoarMay 25, 2010 15:21:31 | Ack! I meant Gargauth. Gargauth! not Garagos. I always get those two mixed up. As for the human theif Flame, It sounds familiar but I can't for the life of me place it. It seems like something I should know though. |

| #504The_SilverswordMay 27, 2010 22:01:03 | There is a 2nd Lords of Darkness!?! Aye, there is a 2e Lords of Darknes, but its nothing like the 3e one. Its more like Libris Mortis, or Open Grave, but only 2e and set in the Realms. And there were lots of NPCs in those volo guides so it is possible, but NPCs were featured in just about everything! This guy could be anywhere! |
| #505johnkretzerMay 27, 2010 23:45:38 | There is a 2nd Lords of Darkness!?! Hint: He might be...but I got the info on him from a older souce than any of the Volo's guide. I didn't check to see if he appeared in anyother souces. Good pick up on the class clue. |
| #50618DELTAMay 28, 2010 7:55:16 | Lords of Darkness Ref5 is a late 1E/early 2E product... Its all about undead... It was written by Ed of the Greenwood... Wow John good question... |

| #508jedi_master_leifMay 28, 2010 15:56:45 | I don't know, because the only "Flame" I know was Kethryllia Amarillis, a.k.a Flame-Flower. She was a moon-elf from Evermeet and lived in the times before the Crown Wars. She had quite the history....I can't remember all of it....but I know she took part in the defense of Evermeet, wound up travelling to the Demonweb Pits and wound up working with Kiaransalee, I believe in order to save someone I think. I know it's not who you're thinking of, because you referenced a "he". |

| #511The_SilverswordMay 29, 2010 18:23:52 | Well if youre going to just give it away! At first I was like ahha its in Darkwalker on Moonshae!, But then Delta said second so: Flame can be found in Selgaunt, he arranges for certain people to be hidden, transported, and kidnapped. So if you needs somebody to "disappear", hes your man to see. HE can be reached at the Green Gauntlet inn on the city's eastren docks. DM's Sourcebook of the Realms pg 21. |

It's like the Stormstar Requiem it happened outside of Realms Space... too true, Im guessing that it happend sometime around the fall of Jaamdath, and the Ascension of Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul. I think thats why Jergal gave up his divinity, he didnt want to be caught up in the Dawn Cataclysm thing. |
| #51818DELTAMay 29, 2010 21:43:51 | From the www.candlekeep.com FAQ...2.8. Where can I get more information about the Dawn Cataclysm? |
| #519The_SilverswordMay 29, 2010 23:51:37 | Cool stuff Delta!, I didnt even know that they listed a year for the Dawn Catclysm on the Forgotten Realms Conspectus. I still have that around here somewhere, im gonna have to dig that out and check it out. I loved that conspectus, nice, easier to manage smaller map of the Realms, still even though the scale was much smaller it still said 1 inch = 90 miles, I think it was more like 160 or something. Im drifting again, might just start up a Dawn Cataclyusm thread, I for one am very interested in it, and I think theres alot of other things that tie into it, but any way back to the Trivia! And goldomark its still a little early yet for hints, but I will tell you that the GHotR is not the source i'm going by, but it may indeed be in there. |

| #524gomeztooMay 31, 2010 0:35:51 | I can't find a reference to Lliira taking a lover during the Times of Trouble (not enough source material that refences the Upheaval), though Faiths & Avatars mentions Grand Rapturemother (formerly High Revelmistress) Chlanna Asjros from Selgaunt as having been "touched by Lliira'" (the quotes are from the text). Deduce and spin from there... Doesn't say that was during the ToT though. Gomez |

The infomation is in the 3.5 book Faiths & Pantheon page 100 mentions that while in mortal form Lliira took her as a lover during the Time in Troubles. Her murder at the hands of a local cult of Loviatar had Lliira create the millitant orderr the Scarlet Mummers. The next question is yours. |

| #528gomeztooJun 02, 2010 10:28:25 | Hint: The Gemcloaks can be found in a city on the Sword Coast. (I'm not the only one left on this forum, I hope...) |
| #529AbsintaJun 02, 2010 10:52:16 | They're a group of young nobles who had cloaks spun by a magic weaver from gemstones. I read that novel but I confess I don't remember much more of the details, unfortunately. |

| #571The_SilverswordJun 14, 2010 23:51:25 | She is looking for a MacE! Aye, close enough. The Cormyr 2e Sourcebook pg36. "Women interested in finding mates wear purple scarves." Its an age-old custom. So while sex definitely plays into it, theyre lookin for a little more. Although it doesnt specificaly say they want to marry either, but I would say that its implied. Not all women subscribe to this custom, and itsmostly used by women who consider themselves young and adventurous. Lovers also frequently give purple scarves as gifts, as signs of affection. | #577gomeztooJun 16, 2010 14:54:51 | Q: What would you have to fear if you were a male priest of Lloth? Everyone? That, and reaching 8th level, when life really becomes tricky (Lolth rarely allows male priests to level above 7th, at least in 2nd ed). Probably not the answer you were looking for, but still truth. |

| #587sfdragonJun 19, 2010 0:29:33 | I have a question, can whe change the rules to must wait 5 questions instead of 5 days?? |
| #588The_SilverswordJun 19, 2010 13:41:50 | I have a question, can whe change the rules to must wait 5 questions instead of 5 days?? No we cant! Well I mean I guess we could but 5 days is more universal, I mean 5 days is always 5 days. Some of the questions on here take awhile to get answered, some going for almost a week. So while 5 days is 5 days, 5 questions could be any where from 1 day to 5 weeks or more, depending on how quickly the questions are answered. Id rather stick with 5 days, that does give other people a chance to answer the questions, all in all I think its a good rule. Why is the Forgotten Realms called the Forgotten Realms any way? |
| #589gomeztooJun 19, 2010 13:44:58 | I dont know if we have enough participants to have to wait for 5 questions... Gomez |

| #602JorunhastJun 21, 2010 7:48:42 | Question: What does 'Braeunk vhos trolh!' means? And how and by who is used? Braeunk vhos trolkh is a saying of hobgoblins that translates loosely as "If you die when I'm gone, do it quietly." The implication is that the hobgoblin saying this wouldn't want to miss the "fun" of hearing or seeing your (another hobgoblin or goblin's) death happen. - Cyclopedia of the Realms New question: You've just treated an old dwarf to a beer, and after gulping it down he says, "oy, that was pure throatslake, that was." For those who are curious: "Well, it's throatslake {meaning that it's drinkable}, but I’ll take it - at not more than a copper a bottle". - Power of Faerun, p66. So the dwarf would take it, but he wouldn't be thrilled. It's like when we get bad beer in a bar, we might say, "geez, that's seriously watered-down." In Faerunian cities of the west, many "throatslakes" are drinkable additives to liqueurs, in order to make "fortified" or mixed drinks. Or they can just be bad, watery beer or seriously watered down alcohol. Anyways, back to ukplayerx's question! ![]() |

After flipping through the Myth Drannor adventure, I found it! The Testament of Jade, its a leather-bound book with pages 1 foot square, its fine green leather cover encrusted with small pieces of jade. On the front cover is an etched symbol of Lathander, and a green silk bookmark is sewn into the spine. The book emanates a very faint glow and is in excellent shape, as if it were just recently bound. There is a very old legend that certain spellcasters in the east possessed dark magic that could literally drain a person's life, adding those stolen years to their own. Yet they were not vampires. 1) Who were they? - and - 2) Is there any truth to this legend? |

| #653JorunhastJul 10, 2010 18:08:32 | Life-Stealers? No, life-stealer warlocks are not specific to the East, and although they can "sap the animus" of a creature their magic doesn't steal their years and add them to their own. Good try, though! Time for another clue! Clue #2: One might learn this life-stealing magic from an old tome: one handwidth wide, three handwidths tall, one finger thick. It is bound in the silky fur of a ki-rin, and the pages are of specially-treated silk. |

Or do you mean in *our* time measurement? Because then I don't know, though my guess would be 1988. Gomez |

| #674gomeztooJul 12, 2010 13:15:14 | I guessed 1988 as that was the release date for Spellfire, but yeah, that would probably be at least a year too late. Realms time would be 1357 DR, according to the GHotR (just checked). |
| #675JorunhastJul 12, 2010 13:34:12 | I guessed 1988 as that was the release date for Spellfire, but yeah, that would probably be at least a year too late. Both 1988 and 1357 DR would be wrong, actually. 1357 is the date Greenwood published the Gray Box set, at least according to GHotR. The first time they "met" is much earlier. ;) |

| #679mock26Jul 13, 2010 0:51:21 | I am thinking that it has to be some time in the early 80s and from Dragon Magazines. |
| #680sfdragonJul 13, 2010 7:57:12 | and I saw the date in the roll of years....... which was missed from the 4e eyesore |
| #681JorunhastJul 13, 2010 10:12:49 | So the answer is a little complicated. Back in 1E, designers had time pass as 1 year on earth for 1 year in the Realms. For publication of the Gray Box (1st edition), 1357 DR is the date given in the Realms (from GHotR) and this "corresponds" to 1987 on Earth. However, Ed wrote stylistically about "visits" from Elminster in Dragon magazine long before 1987. The first published article featuring supposedly exchanged information from Elminster is the original "Pages from the Mages," vol 62, pg. 16, in 1982. This would "correspond" to 1352 DR. But it's also important to note that Ed was publishing general Realms-specific articles before this. "Down to Earth Divinity" (1981), in Dragon vol. 54 (pg. 6), for example, lists various gods of the Forgotten Realms... as used in his campaign, not the final version in the 1E gray box. If Elminster was "meeting" with him and supplying Realms information, it's likely they "met" before 1981. So has Ed ever said when he first "met" Elminster? I'm not certain, but we can say "at least before 1981, or 1351 DR." He has said that Elminster was one of the first characters he created for his Realms, which he dreamed up in 1967 in order to have a setting for his sword and sorcery stories. He didn't pick up D&D until 1975 or so... but perhaps, in a sense, Greenwood "met" Elminster as early as 1967 (or 1337 DR). Which would sorta explain why Elminster is so "elite" (get it? couldn't resist, sorry)... |

| #698The_SilverswordJul 18, 2010 6:30:52 | 6 digits, yeah thats what I meant, 5 fingers and a thumb. So they would definitely be the Arcane, the merchants of space, theyre who you go to to get a Spelljamming helm. I think in 3e they renamed them the Mercane, or something like that, Im not sure if theyve made it to 4e? Once again I apologise for my blonde moment...I'll make sure my next question is Realms based *shuffles off to move Spelljammer products away from any FRCS sourcebooks* Sigh, im gonna go have to dig out more books! I think the Mercane were in the 3e Manual of the Planes, but id have to double check on that. Yeah theyre in there, in the monsters section. theyre the Arcane, but only called Mercane, and the focus isnt merchants of space, but merchants of the Planes. But they have 5 digits, but an extra joint on each finger, but looking back at the Spelljammer one, it doesnt say in the discription that they have an extra finger it too says extra joint, I guess the artist just took that to mean they had an extra finger? or the picture they show is of a mutant 12 fingered Arcane. |
| #701ukplayerxJul 18, 2010 7:13:59 | Thanx Ss - BRB to answer your question about fingers/joints... Yep - Spelljammer LoTV only describes them with an extra joint, not finger..and i'm keeping them as space merchants, just to confuse my players ![]() |

| #721gomeztooJul 27, 2010 0:58:53 | Cormanthyr does not reference it - maybe not so odd, as the event that caused the Hlarr and the Yhendorn's death was due to the first war between elves in the region, known as 'the Searing', and took plave in -24,600 DR, before the Sundering. It's not even in the GHotR. 'The Searing' was described by Ed Greenwood in detail in an online document (an edited version of which I originally planned to use in a LFR adventure, with Ed's approval, but the editors cut it because it was too lengthy. Huh.). However, the information the question is based on came from an accessory that Ed wrote that references the event. |

| #755ukplayerxAug 08, 2010 11:49:42 | the memo?...oh wait....now i remember |
| #756sfdragonAug 08, 2010 15:40:57 | should I givce hint now or later??? |
| #757ukplayerxAug 09, 2010 5:22:44 | Gimme, gimme, gimme, NOW NOW NOW |
| #758sfdragonAug 09, 2010 17:39:28 | *Hushed tone* why would I want t odo such a thing??? don't read drizzt books do you |
| #759ukplayerxAug 10, 2010 6:24:05 | I can't read - i used to have EVERYTHING explained to me by the DM....very slowly |
| #760The_SilverswordAug 11, 2010 3:27:05 | can we get a better hint? Entreri has killed lots of female rogues! |
| #76118DELTAAug 11, 2010 13:24:45 | Hint please. |
| #762sfdragonAug 11, 2010 16:55:55 | she told him that men don't come to her room without being invited |
| #763godwinxzAug 12, 2010 19:07:22 | Whisper, a rogue living in Luskan. In Streams of Silver pg. 38-39. Is that right? |
| #764sfdragonAug 12, 2010 21:07:40 | Whisper, a rogue living in Luskan. In Streams of Silver pg. 38-39. Is that right? you are correct, I'm surprised nobody got the Hushed Tone hint. anyway, the floor is yours. |
| #765godwinxzAug 13, 2010 11:02:10 | Who killed Dendybar, the wizard, and what did the killer use to kill Dendybar? |
| #766johnkretzerAug 13, 2010 13:53:51 | Damn...I knew the Whisper one without researching it....I think I know the Dendybar one but I have to look it up to find the answear...teaches me in taking break from this thread... |
| #767johnkretzerAug 13, 2010 14:13:19 | Ok I think I now remember without reasearch. Dendybar the Mottled was killed by the spirit of Morkai the Red who he manipulated Kessel to kill into killing in the Crystal Shard. Morkai used (by somehow possesing) Bok Dendybar's own golem..at the end of Streams of Silver. |
| #768johnkretzerAug 13, 2010 22:47:56 | Um...am I right? Should I ask a question? I ask my question...if it is proven I am wrong I'll edit this post...it is a multipart question. What was the name of the adventuring company that Shandril joined first? What role did she assume within the group...and how did she prove herself in that role? |
| #769sfdragonAug 14, 2010 1:11:13 | you are right, Company of the Bright Spear thief and escaping by use if magical device you are not all clear on that second part |
| #770johnkretzerAug 14, 2010 1:18:49 | you are right, You are right in the first part...I'll try to make it clearer... She did something to prove to them that she was in fact a thief...I mean normaly adventured don't just recruit inn staff...what did she do? Hint...I know some adventurers would have killed her in reaction too what she did. |
| #771johnkretzerAug 14, 2010 14:34:23 | you are right, Sigh I should not ask two pareters anymore...it derails things I think...so I'll give it to sfdragon... the answear to the second part was that she used the inn's master key to go into their rooms and stole things...just as they were discovering they stuff was stolen she knocked on their door and gaved them back theirt stuff and said,"So I hear you are looking for a thief." The party rogue was killed in the bar due to stealing from the wrong person. |
| #772sfdragonAug 14, 2010 16:23:45 | I don't have a real good one right now, so I'll keep it simple. what was the name of the Paladinson's sword |
| #773gomeztooAug 20, 2010 7:38:57 | Apparently not as simple as you thought it was... |
| #774sfdragonAug 20, 2010 14:24:03 | my 2e booka I'll dig out later and give the answer. Gomeztoo, the floor is yours |
| #775The_SilverswordAug 20, 2010 22:55:13 | my 2e booka I'll dig out later and give the answer. What? but he didnt even answer it, theres rules here man. |
| #776sfdragonAug 20, 2010 23:01:13 | I yielded it to him. and if i answer my own question, then the rulkes clearly don't state anything. which reminds me I have to goo look, I can swear it had a name.... hrll titan's bane doesn't even show up on the wiki |
| #777gomeztooAug 21, 2010 6:52:55 | Ah well, to prevent the thread grinding to a halt: What were Ibrandul's two most favored forms? |
| #77818DELTAAug 21, 2010 7:05:33 | Hey Gomez you are like the only person that PM's me the answer on a regular basis...;) |
| #779johnkretzerAug 21, 2010 16:42:36 | Hey Gomez you are like the only person that PM's me the answer on a regular basis...;) Hey I always PM you the answear ![]() |
| #780The_SilverswordAug 21, 2010 20:44:16 | Hey Gomez you are like the only person that PM's me the answer on a regular basis...;) I always do as well, unless I know Delta already knows the answer, or if I forget, but other than that I always PM the answer! And bad sfdragon, giving the answer away like that, I still had a few more sourcebooks to check! Youre question only went like 4 days without an answer, thats pretty good I thought. I thought that was the point of the game, to stump everyone else. I think Delta should come up with a new rule or something, like after a week or something and it hasnt been answered yet, then give out the answer, and whoevers question it was gets a cookie or something! And as for gomez's question, I dont know the answer offhand but I think i know where to look! |
| #781gomeztooAug 23, 2010 14:45:16 | Do I need to give a hint? Other than that you need to look for the god's faith and avatars? ;) |
| #782The_SilverswordAug 24, 2010 0:52:22 | Well your hint kinda gives it away, I was alittle unsure of the answer as the book mentions that Ibrandul is currently played by Shar, so I wasnt sure if those were his favored forms, or Shar's while impersonating him, but any way here goes, The Stalker, a monstrous lizard of the depths that looks like a fire lizard with a long, thick tail. And the Skulker, a humanoid of black and gray stone worn smooth as if long exposed to the eroding force of howling winds. Next question: What do the runes in the original Forgotten Realms logo mean? OK scratch that question, I was thinking that those were Dethek runes and anybody could translate them, but after looking at it very carefully I now see that they are not, I dont believe that there was ever a canon answer to that question in an official canon source, so that question, by the rules is not allowed, but for any one interested, the answer is "Herein lie the lost lands". Ok for the real question, How does one get into the World Serpent Inn? |
| #78318DELTAAug 24, 2010 1:32:54 | By opening the door?![]() |
| #784Nai_CalusAug 24, 2010 2:15:54 | Volo's Guide to Cormyr pg. 9 gives the method in a footnote as "By knocking in front of the Wild Goose on an imaginary door beneath the signboard and then uttering the name of any deity of Faerun. (Elminster didn't strike out this footnote. He just sighed and said, "Ah, well, there goes the neighborhood!" Then he grinned, very slowly.)" Question: What does the village of Feather Falls lack that one would normally expect to find in a village? |
| #785The_SilverswordAug 24, 2010 2:36:12 | Damn it! I really, really need to get tougher questions! And Delta, you can not hold this one against me! I was just about to PM the answer to you, but Nai Already answered it! I could be a real **** and say thats not the right answer. You also have to include the word "enter", such as By Corellon's Unseen Beard, I enter. But close enough. That part is on page 71 of the aforementioned Volo's Guide to Cormyr |
| #786Nai_CalusAug 24, 2010 2:59:35 | I hadn't read that far in the book yet, so deal with it. ![]() |

| #789Nai_CalusAug 25, 2010 7:57:28 | That will work, aye. It's also lacking a watch, a well and an inn. (Volo's Guide to the Dalelands, 123.) Your turn. :3 |
| #790Doombringer_of_HoarAug 25, 2010 12:25:44 | Wow, I got one right? I just took a guess at it. Well ok, let's see. Why is it illegal to harm or kill a cat in Cormyr? |
| #791Nai_CalusAug 25, 2010 16:11:20 | Fortunately for you, the village of Feather Falls is in the running for 'most boring place in Faerun'. |
| #792The_SilverswordAug 28, 2010 4:16:23 | Wow, I got one right? I just took a guess at it. Cause theyre warm & fuzzy? |
| #793sfdragonAug 28, 2010 8:18:15 | becuase its the royal seal. or if you want prefer, becuase the crown said so. |
| #794Doombringer_of_HoarAug 28, 2010 17:15:26 | While both of those may be true, It's not the answer I'm looking for. There's a reason why the Cormyrians don't want to see any harm come to cats, it relates to their beliefs, you could say that they're somewhat like Egyptians in this regard. |
| #795The_SilverswordSep 01, 2010 3:44:19 | OK I think ive got it, although its listed under customs, and not officially a law. Cats are the eyes and messangers of the gods. Cormyr pg 36 Next question, where would you most likely find Ninjas in the Realms? |
| #796ukplayerxSep 02, 2010 4:34:45 | Ninjas can be found hanging out at 'The Scaleable Wall' inn. It has an activity castle in the beer garden with walls, ditches, straw dummies, practise weapons and rope bridges etc so they can practise in a more relaxed atmosphere. |
| #797The_SilverswordSep 02, 2010 22:58:23 | Ninjas can be found hanging out at 'The Scaleable Wall' inn. It has an activity castle in the beer garden with walls, ditches, straw dummies, practise weapons and rope bridges etc so they can practise in a more relaxed atmosphere. I expected someone to say Kara-Tur, or the Island of Wa or something, so then I could say wrong! You dont find Ninjas, they find you! But you are probably right, they could be found at the Scaleable Wall, or any place with an activity castle and/or beer garden, so go ahead, the floor is yours. |

Time, boy. Us old geeezers ain't as quick as we used to be.
No, it is in LFR. Sshamath is not mentioned in the FRCG. Nurissa and some of her fellows appear in CORE2-1 Killing the Messenger and CORE2-8 Enemy of My Enemy. (CORE2-1 is considered canon, not sure of CORE2-8). Sshamath is below the Elturgard region, and as such has my attention as soon as I am done with Sschlindyryn... Gomez |

| #880sfdragonNov 10, 2010 7:32:48 | that's against the rules....... you have to answer it yourself by yourself...(hints ointed to the answer dont count....... you broke the rules |
| #881Lord_ToastNov 11, 2010 9:09:27 | that's against the rules....... Ha! Specific trumps general in this trivia contest. Here is an easy one: What is Waukeen’s quarter called in The Marketplace Eternal? |
| #88218DELTANov 11, 2010 16:57:24 | Good question Lord Toast!!;) |
| #883sfdragonNov 11, 2010 23:23:52 | He forfeits for answering his own question. what he meant to ask was What is WAukeen's quarter called in Brightwater. which is The MArketplace eternal not that good of a question. so toast, ask again or yield it to Delta. |
| #884JorunhastNov 11, 2010 23:59:10 | Ha! Specific trumps general in this trivia contest. I thought Waukeen's quarter was called the House of Barter, or the Home of Barter. Is that right? From Planescape, and located in the Concordant Opposition, yes? |
| #885Lord_ToastNov 12, 2010 6:13:23 | Ha! Specific trumps general in this trivia contest. House of Barter is the correct answer to this question. |
| #886Lord_ToastNov 12, 2010 6:19:40 | He forfeits for answering his own question. I had it worded correctly the first time. My first clue would have been, “Before the Year of Bluefire.” Followed by, “shared with other planar deities of wealth.”
The question was designed to trick most search engines.
Jorunhast is up for the next question. |
| #887JorunhastNov 12, 2010 9:30:34 | Ha! Specific trumps general in this trivia contest. Woot! Okay, let's see... This is one of the busiest roadhouses in western Faerun, known for its excellent taproom and seedy clientele far more than the ramshackle rooms made available out back (which are really just converted stables). It has a truly fine selection of wines, ales, and other alcoholic beverages, but you'll never see nobles here unless they are in disguise. Pirates, adventurers, outlaws, humanoids, half-breed monsters, and other monstrosities all come night after night to pack the taproom full. What's the name of this bar / Inn, and where is it located? |

I also just realized that part of the question was giving the location. Its on the Trade Way to Waterdeep, north of the Trollbark forest, and west of the Misty Forest, close enough? |

almost a week has come to pass and yet no answer is in sight, and fatal attractions is on Animal Planet. a Hint, the capital city was razed |
| #901gomeztooNov 23, 2010 3:46:53 | My guess would be Aryvandaar, and the species sun elves, but I have no idea what the capital city of Aryvandaar was. Myth Glaurach, maybe? |
| #902JorunhastNov 23, 2010 11:37:06 | In days long past, before the human empires and city states. what was the name of the empire that held the grounds of sword coast, and what sepiceis called it home, and the what was it's capital's name. Well, this could be either: Illefarn (which was later annexed by Aryvandaar), an ancient realm of the elves-dwarves, and Aelinthaldaar was the capital that was "razed" around -1100 or so by High Elf magic (destroying a city that had existed for around 7000 years or so). -or- If you go back even further, the Sarrukh had established the realm of Isstosseffifil (circa -34500), which was part of their immesely huge empire of Okoth. Oreme was the capital of Isstosseffifil, and one might say that it was "razed" by the massive ecological damage resulting from their battles with the Phaerimm. Although the phaerimm were driven deep into the underdark, the damage to their own realm was massive and led to its demise. The tricky issue to your question is the part where you say "before the human empires and city states." Netheril was of course in its prime when Aelinthaldaar was razed, and both Mulhorand and Jhaamdath were quite active as well. If you meant a time when humans didn't have any empires or city states, then the answer is Oreme of Okoth-Isstosseffifil. But I imagine that you probably meant "before any human kindgom ruled the Sword Coast area" and you're thinking of Aelinthaldaar of Illefarn-Aryvandaar. |

| #908sfdragonNov 30, 2010 22:46:22 | lets see The FEywild and the shadowfell..... but that mind you is one way of reading into what they wrote.... onn the otherhand I always took it that they mirrored the geography and not the landscape( ie you might have a forest in one and the other have mountains in the same spot.....) and Abeir also mirrors Toril. |

On a totally unrelated note: Would anyone like to buy a half drank Orange Julius? I'd be willing to sell it half price. Spam my A@$ Anywho - From the 2E Lands of Intrigue Box set, Book one Tethyr, page 31: While Mhoaran gained his crown by might, he needed to keep it by guile. Through the plots and machinations of his nobles, the king lost three wives and more than two score children before he could raise an heir to adulthood. Even secreting the infants from their births to safe houses did not protect them from the nobles assassins. After a shipboard assassination failed to rid Tethyr of Mhoaran, the king was reunited with his son, Nearel, who had been raised in secret in a fishing village along the Dragons Neck Peninsula. Nearel, age 14, summoned a pack of sea lions with a magical horn, and the lions devoured the pursuing assassins. Ever since that day, the coat of arms of Tethyr and the royal seals have been supported by sea lions. sfdragon? |
