Has anyone ever played in or ran an Atropus campaign? Which campaign setting did you play in? How did it work out?

I have not.

I once toyed with the idea of sending my players to Faerûn's moon, but they never quite found their way throug the portal in Cormyr that leads there.

The Atropus just looks like the moon. Its a lot like the evil moon in Zelda. I take it that not too many people haveimplimented The Elder Evils based on the lack of posts on this topic.

Many do not like the Elder Evil/Aberrations in FR, especially now with 4e forcing them upon us.

Aside from that, I do not know what Atropus is - FR has its own moon, and in 4e the Illusion hiding its 'habitability' has been removed. I will have to check Elder Evils for that one you mentioned - it sounds mildly interesting.

It's in Elder Evils. Basically, it's a traveling moon that goes around the cosmos destroying worlds.

im actually in the process of creating an elder evil from an old character i made(level 34 Lich), toyed with using the Atropus idea but couldn't find a way to properly implement it into my world, my suggestion if your going to use and elder evil, the worm that walks (or whatever) he's nice and nasty and easier to work into stuff (my opinion)

What does 4e do with Elder Evils and Aberrations?

Atropus is a moon that looks like the moon from one of the Zelda games. It travels from world to world raising the corpses of the dead. To top it all off it only has a CR of 23.

I personally will not DM a game with it anytime soon as I believe to pull it off right it takes a really experienced DM.

Im interested in hearing about peoples' experiences with any of the elder evils. :coolcthul

-Unicron!

-I immediately thought of the moon from Majora's Mask...

What does 4e do with Elder Evils and Aberrations?

-With what we know of the debut of the 4-Gotten Realms, there seems to be a heavy push of Aberrations, more so than usual.

4e Forgotten Realms is an aberration, so that makes perfect sense.

Personally, if I were to go that route, I would use Mongo from Flash Gordon. Not the terrible new Sci-Fi series, the original series, in all its glory.

Spit-take worthy. :D

I like to think of Abeir as Toril's evil psuedo-natural twin. Maybe you can use Atropus as Abeir's Moon? Since so many other things have shifted from that world to Toril, I don't think anyone would notice an extra moon at this point.

Maybe Atropus is Selune's evil twin...

-Well, we still don't know what 'Abeir' is, whether it is a whole planet, a moon itself, a demiplane, a plane, a banana...

-'Abeir' could theoretically be the "Faerûnian version" of Atropus, just like, say, Ghaunadaur is the "Faerûnian version" of Jubilex.

But think about it...

If Abeir is Toril's 'Dark Twin', then it's moon would be Selune's 'Dark Twin', which would be Shar, which would not only be pretty cool, but it would make some sense - the Shadow Plane and Negative Planes have been rolled into the Shadowfel, so that means Shadowcrap = negative energy/Undead crap.

Shar, as FR's Shadow Deity, should have some sort of deep connection to Undead in 4e, and that moon, Atropus, raises the dead as it passes by.

It might not be what the designer's are doing, but its perfect.

To extend this even further, then Chauntea is Toril, so Abeir must be her dark counterpart... the World Serpent?

Hmmmmm...

Like an evil version of Space: 1999, without the spaceships?

Giant evil moons that travel the galaxy are incredibly dumb. I've never liked "elder evils" and Far Realms crap in my Forgotten Realms. They're fine for Call of Chtulhu games, but they just don't fit with FR.

-Some of it works, some of it doesn't. Like all things. Pandorym, one of the entities in that book, made his...her...IT's debut in the Forgotten Realms (Darkvision), and then was added into that Elder Evils book afterwards. In Pandorym's case, I think it worked. An entity summoned and captured by the Imaskari that has power on par with deities, conjured to defeat deities.

-And, since it's relevant, I might as well mention that the illusions masking the civilization on Selûne are going to be gone in the 4-Gotten Realms, so...

-Not that that really means much, I don't think. I don't see how this would effect the average person in any major way.

Well the realms do you elder evils of their own since forever. Dendar and Kezef? And that ridiculous elf-eater thing. Anyway Atropus could hide among the tears of Selune. would make it harder to spot initially.

-Optimus Primal, not Prime.

-I believe that, in the Transformers continuity, Beast Wars took place on Earth a long, long time ago. Optimus Primal was like, like a "proto-type" of Optimus Prime. Something like that.

-This is how I think of it: With the naked eye, how much detail can we see of our own moon. Not very much, such that people often see a "face" and all of that. With the naked eye, the "view" of Selûnian settlements would be just as bad, I'd think.

It's not so much what the people from Faerun would see, as much as what the paranoid xenophobes from Selune would do if they thought people can see them.
