I have started recruiting for a campaign in the Moonshae Isles.  Now, I'm not recruiting here since the campaign takes place before the Spellplague and after the Avatar saga - AND - it's written for Rolemaster in mind and not 4th Ed.

Despite that, this place is the best place to go to other than the forums in Candlekeep for tips on running an adventure in the Moonshaes.  Looking over the 1e expansion by Douglas Niles, I've noticed a lot of good ideas that I should have put into my character creation guide (which I had extrapolated the Ancient and Prehistory of the Moonshaes beyond what was in the 1e expansion and also put that in the character creation guide).

I also figured that since the Moonshaes was settled by Men in abt. 460 DR, the Ffolk language would be extremely different in 1371 DR to even resemble modern Tethyrese so I made it a separate language. So . . .  Now the reason why I came to you.

Give me some good ideas for adventures.  The campaign is titled For Queen and Country.  The PCs create knights, housecarls, or commoners (which basically includes everyone else who are not knights or housecarls).  And defend the Moonshaes and the royal family against certain threats.

I'm having the players watch Ivanhoe and Excalibur for ideas for characters.  I also suggested that they read the two Moonshae trilogies by Douglas Niles.  The theme is bravery vs. barbarism.  So it has a strong Arthurian feel to it.  Here's the rules:

Once you list all the living Forgotten Realms adventures set in the Moonshaes, think beyond them.

The Living FR Moonshae Adventures can only be mentioned once in this thread.

One of the things I really like about the 4E Moonshaes is that they have been invaded, via Snowdown, by Amnite colonists and Cyricists (and, presumably, Shadow Thieves).

This could work in any edition.

The Amnites are rapacious in their lust for natural resources: forests are clear-felled both for timber and to create agricultural land, while hills and mountains are defiled by mines and smelters.

This provides a great backdrop for Arthurian adventures (from Arthurian myth you could have a champion arise potentially chosen by a "lady" in a lake... or moonwell) as well as Robin Hood-like campaigns where bands of outlaws take on the invaders and ensure that slaves are freed (and fed).

Perhaps the Amnites have been able to gain such a strong foothold because they have defiled the moonwell using ancient Bhaalyn rituals (per the original Moonshae triolgy): restoring the moonwells becomes the key to seeing the Amnites removed from the Moonshaes.

(BTW, this is pretty much the background for the next campaign I have planned.)
