Sorry if this has already been mentioned but why is the 1376 DR known as the Year of the Bent Blade? where does the Bent Blade come into it? because of battle?a name of a group or something else?

I have no idea. Theres quite a few years like that where it not very obvious (to me any way) why a certain year has a certain name. I think it would be interesting if they would put out a companion book to the Grand History and give us some insights into the prophecies of Auguthra and Alaundo. , and why they named this or that year what ever. Im still wondering about Year of the Prince. Who was the Prince? And what did he do that was so great that he gets a whole year named after him?

But yeah Bent Blade definitely sounds like a big battle or something. Any big battles happen in 1376?

I just KNEW that you were going to say something like that.

I suppose asking for some info on Shar's Dark Chronolgy is out of the question?

Could be something to do with the truce between Zhentil Keep and Myth Drannor in that year.

Alaundo and Augathra's poetically ambiguous year-prophecies are interpreted differently by sages and others in different parts of Faerûn; they aren't intended to relate clearly and definitely to particular events widely known across the continent, as Wizards sometimes misused them, but are a matter of dispute and uncertainty even centuries after the year in question.

While this is a minor detail and perhaps not prophecy worthy, the name of the year did influence the shape of the sword (the 'Breath') central to the story in The Shield of Weeping Ghosts. Not exactly a world-shaking event, but it gave it a slight connection with the 'Bent Blade'. In my FR campaigns I made the case that the name of the year was not always descriptive of a single event, but perhaps dozens of events, each fulfilling the year-prophecies in their own way. It was fun to hide little 'easter-egg' details in the story arcs, something obscure and ultimately pivotal in the end.

One reason why I took the opportunity to mention the year (Deep Waters Drifting) in the Rising of the Dark adventure (which takes place underwater).
