Apr 06, 2009 11:13:34 I am not sure if it is mentioned in the games, but if, I can't remember. Is it known in wich year the story line takes place? As far as I remember there were the usual "books" with informations about the history of the Realms, similiar to that in the BG games. So maybe I only have overseen one with an more exact date.

Apr 06, 2009 11:16:22 -They took place in the near past. That's all I can remember right now. If I recall, there were mentions of certain things in AGHotR. I'll go check.

-I couldn't find anything, but I know there are some mentions...The game itself (the second one, anyway) does mention dates, though.

-I just reinstalled Knights of the Old Republic II, so you just missed the cut-off for me installing a game I already beat to replay! :P

The Wiki says the IWD games take place in a different century, I think the 1200s.

Says of IWD1:
Q: What time frame does the game take place?
A: Our game takes place in the year 1281, the Year of the Cold Soul. This is before the Time of Troubles.

Q: Will we have any historical characters like Drizzt or Wulfgar to meet in the game?
A: No, our game takes place about 16 years prior to the first recorded mention of Drizzt and about 80 years before Wulfgar is even born.

That clashes with the official date of Drizzt's arrival, but I think that's been adjusted a few times over the years since the game was made.

Yes, those are both correct in-game dates:

IWD I: 1281
IWD II: 1312

Hm, I dunno... IWD I is set in "Year of the Cold Soul" or 1281.

With IWD II, it's set "30 years after" with two specific references in game (books your characters can pick up and read). I know of the brother and sister you're referring to, Isair and Madae, but I'm not sure of a specific year-reference to them.

Next time try putting in Belhephet (sp?).;) Although Isair and Madae were neat too.

Apr 07, 2009 12:22:31 Thanks for your answers, that helps me. Besides, I've installed it onto my Vista system and it works. It's not perfect, some artifacts around transparent effects, but it is playable. Hm, that reminds me that I have not played Baldur's Gate and its successors for years.

Next time try putting in Belhephet (sp?). Although Isair and Madae were neat too.

And try to erase the Spellplague and all that out of the Realms.
