| #1leirilApr 06, 2009 11:13:34 | I am not sure if it is mentioned in the games, but if, I can't remember. Is it known in wich year the story line takes place? As far as I remember there were the usual "books" with informations about the history of the Realms, similiar to that in the BG games. So maybe I only have overseen one with an more exact date. ![]() |
| #2lord_karsusApr 06, 2009 11:16:22 | -They took place in the near past. That's all I can remember right now. If I recall, there were mentions of certain things in AGHotR. I'll go check. -I couldn't find anything, but I know there are some mentions...The game itself (the second one, anyway) does mention dates, though. |
| #3leirilApr 06, 2009 11:23:52 | Ok, thanks so far. Maybe I replay them, needed some informations about the places in there too, so that's a good reason to try running them under Win Vista, if it works. ![]() |

| #5lord_karsusApr 06, 2009 11:51:25 | Ok, thanks so far. Maybe I replay them, needed some informations about the places in there too, so that's a good reason to try running them under Win Vista, if it works. -I just reinstalled Knights of the Old Republic II, so you just missed the cut-off for me installing a game I already beat to replay! :P IWD? -Icewind Dale |
| #6BadCatManApr 06, 2009 20:41:31 | I know the first one was supposed to be set before Drizzt arrived in the area, so it would have to be before 1347 DR. The Wiki says the IWD games take place in a different century, I think the 1200s. Okay, an old FAQ here: http://www.tgeweb.com/Ironworks/icewind/generalinfo.shtml Says of IWD1: Q: What time frame does the game take place? That clashes with the official date of Drizzt's arrival, but I think that's been adjusted a few times over the years since the game was made. Someone on a forum here: http://au.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/icewinddale2/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-48464370&pid=552350 Says IWD2 takes place in 1312 DR. |
| #7TheriseApr 06, 2009 22:31:02 | I know the first one was supposed to be set before Drizzt arrived in the area, so it would have to be before 1347 DR. Yes, those are both correct in-game dates: IWD I: 1281 IWD II: 1312 |
| #8lord_karsusApr 06, 2009 23:24:43 | -What the heck was the reference in AGHotR? Msatran mentioned it to me...A year name referencing the brother and sister from Icewind Dale II, I think...maybe? I don't remember... |
| #9TheriseApr 07, 2009 2:39:22 | -What the heck was the reference in AGHotR? Msatran mentioned it to me...A year name referencing the brother and sister from Icewind Dale II, I think...maybe? I don't remember... Hm, I dunno... IWD I is set in "Year of the Cold Soul" or 1281. With IWD II, it's set "30 years after" with two specific references in game (books your characters can pick up and read). I know of the brother and sister you're referring to, Isair and Madae, but I'm not sure of a specific year-reference to them. |
| #10iakhovasApr 07, 2009 9:16:07 | I don't think any IWD references made it into the Grand History actually. ![]() |
| #11rinonalyrna_fathomlinApr 07, 2009 9:28:26 | I don't think any IWD references made it into the Grand History actually. Next time try putting in Belhephet (sp?).;) Although Isair and Madae were neat too. |
| #12leirilApr 07, 2009 12:22:31 | Thanks for your answers, that helps me. Besides, I've installed it onto my Vista system and it works. It's not perfect, some artifacts around transparent effects, but it is playable. Hm, that reminds me that I have not played Baldur's Gate and its successors for years.Next time try putting in Belhephet (sp?). Although Isair and Madae were neat too. . And try to erase the Spellplague and all that out of the Realms. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| #13markustay63Apr 07, 2009 16:02:06 | Spellplague? What the heck's a 'Spellplague'? ![]() ;) :D |
| #14quale1Apr 07, 2009 16:08:37 | those were excellent stories, they should be canon unlike some novels particularly like Isair and Madae's organization of half-bloods |
