I got back into D&D with 3.5 and the Trivia question about the Year Stealing spell got me looking through the Kara-Tur pdf's....Hold on i thought, I've got Oriental Adventures 3.5 set in Rokugan!!! so what gives...did they (WoTC) convert the main body of Kara-Tur to Rokugan to support AEG's L5R and leave loads of stuff out? |

What they should of done is just left out a setting, just had it all classes, feats, items, and spells, with out any setting information, maybe had some lore about typical Chinese and Japanese settlements, beliefs, things like that, but keep it gerneral and not pertaining to any certain setting. I thought it was les an Oriental Adventures source book, and more like the 5 Rings rpg. I felt so cheated when I bought that one, yes thats one I actually paid cash monies for, I had no real interest in doing a Rokugan campaign, so most of the book was pretty useless. I guess people could say the same thing about the orginal and Kara-Tur, but really the first OA only had a tiny section on Kara-Tur in the back and doesnt really relate to the classes, skill, etc. And the boxed set was supposed to be more focused on the setting, so that made perfect sense. Ah well, Im done ranting now. |
