Jan 26, 2010 18:05:08 So I was curious as to this giant (both in stature and career) character is? I just reread his first novel/short story and I didn't see any actual print on it. In the reread there is a passage having Cale describe a man as being tall, because he was only a hand span (palm width? so 3 to 5 inches) shorter than he. That is aweful impressive.

I'm going to guess around 6'8", like an average NBA guard or somesuch. Is it in print anywhere? I'd ask Mr. Kemp himself, but sadly I doubt he is perusing the boards as of lately...

Lastly, I'd like to breathe a final sigh of grief that Cale's story will go unfinished and the loss of a great author to the realms. We will miss ye, and oh how dark&empty the realms future hath become.

As i understand it Kemp doesnt own the rights to that character, WotC does, so they could hire another writer to continue the story, or hopefully maybe theyll eventually work out thier differences. I hope they work something out, I want to know what happens with Mask. I couldnt see them getting some on else to write them, that would be as bad as them getting some one else to write Drizzt novels, I dont think the fan would stand for it, but who knows.

But as far as the orginal question, im not sure if theyve ever actually said how tall he is, 6' 8" sounds like a good bet. I remember there being a 3e character write up of him, but i dont remember if they gave his height on there or not.

Yes, he is dead. But, much to Swordboys point, he's not.

The whole thing was left open ended for both he and Mask for a reason--to see how the fan base really felt about the mess.

I personally don't see anyone disputing the issue, so I can easily see both returning.

Anyway, yea, WotC owns the rights to the character, but they aren't about to bring in anyone except Paul to write about it. Unless he outright refuses or demands an over exuberant paycheck, I bet you will see bot he and Cale reuniting withing the next couple of years.

OP, sorry, I've got nothing for you. Unfortunately, as popular as these novels may be, they don't related to the "epic" of an R.A. or Ed "may" present. Therefore, no stats other than from the author themselves.

I did get Paul's Star Wars novel "Crosscurrent" today!
