#1 VaultDweller Apr 11, 2010 10:39:53	Question 1: After the death of Mask, who now holds the portfolios of Thievery and Thieves? Question 2: Is there any (non-Dwarven) region in Faerun that might have an accept resembling Scottish? I'm making an NPC inspired by Annah (from Planescape: Torment), and I'm not sure what god she should worship.  If Mask was alive, that would be the choice... but in his absence she might just be Faithless instead.  I can handwave the accent, of course... but since it was such a distinctive element of the original character, I'd like to at least touch on it.
#2 The_Silversword Apr 11, 2010 11:10:38	Im not too sure on question 1, I would probably say Shar, hmmmmm, yeah Shar, It is possible that portfolio has been left unclaimed, but that seems unlikely. As for question #2, Ive always seen the area of northern Cormyr by the Stormhorns as being very Scottish like. Dont they all wear kilts up in High Horn? It dont get much more Scottish than that. I bet they play golf too!
#3 VaultDweller Apr 11, 2010 11:18:25	I figured that Shar was most likely, but thievery portfolio or not, Shar's just not right for the character. If you're right about the accent in northern Cormyr, then that is absolutely perfect.  I had wanted to make the character Cormyrian, as she will most likely first be encountered as a prison escapee in Wheloon.

That would be Brandobaris, who was always a god of thieves and thievery. Question 2: Is there any (non-Dwarven) region in Faerun that might have an accept resembling Scottish? The Moonshaes, perhaps.

I had forgotten all about him, well i didnt forget about him, I was thinking that he was an aspect of Mask or something, but after lookin at the 4e FRCG, yep there he is, and with the Sphere of Thievery, so yeah I would agree with Lord Manshoon on this as well. As for the Scottish accent, Moonshaes with its Celtic flavor would fit as well, but I still say the highlands of Cormyr. There was a piece of art depicting a dude from High Horn wearing a kilt looking very Scottish, of course I cant remember for the life of me where that particular piece of art was from. I believe the Scottish accent came from a mix of English and Gaelic, so I guess technically some one of both Cormyr and Moonshae ancestery might have a Scottish sounding accent.
#7 VaultDweller Apr 13, 2010 7:08:47	I'm going with Cormyrian highlands.  It's easier to justify the character ending up in Wheloon than someone from way out in the Sea of Swords.

I thought the Moonshaes were more Celtic inspired, with a smattering of Norse-type pirates, though I could be wrong.  Also, I had no idea that the Cormyr mountains had highlander types.  That's cool.
