Does anyone have specific infos on Thymanter's Geography?

The campaign setting gives only little infos on Messemprar Ruins, Unthalass Ruins and the Black Ash Plains.
Nothing about the Smoking Mountains, nothing about the Ash Lake... kinda obscure.... :D

Any help, please?

My players are 3 Lvl 1 characters (next week they'll be 4 char.) so i assumed that on the border lines of the Smoking Mountains there are some easy goblins/orcs raiders... just for fun.
If i'm not wrong the dragonborns are trying to enlarge their settlements in this region, spreading away from Djerad Tymar; so i told my players that some dragonborn farmers are trying to settle near the smoking mounts but they are regulary "pillaged" by those goblin/orcs.
I know it's a standard cliché but my players are all Noobs, so i don't care at all.

I would really like to know something "real" about those Smoking Mountains, the Ash Lake and maybe what kind of Treasures can be found in Messemprar or Unthalass ruins...

Thanks in advance

Insert generic whinging about FR 4e. ;)

The plummeting of the dragonborn atop Unther was curiously well-aimed, in that it destroyed human settlements and left all the wilderness relatively intact.

The best source for that region as it pertains to old Unther is Old Empires in 2e, and the FRCS and Dragons of Faerun in 3.x.

FWIW, here's my notes on the Smoking Mountains, Methmere and the Methwood (I was interested in Chessenta myself) (not including FR 4e material, since you have that).

The Smoking Mountains
Show

• The Gold Dwarves of the Great Rift have established strongholds, foundaries and smelters near the volcanic fires of the Smoking Mountains and the Black Ash Plain of Unther. (PGTF)
• The western end of this range has active volcanoes, while the eastern end is dormant. Guyanothaz the red dragon lairs here but hasn’t been seen in centuries. The mountains are also home to pyrohydras and salamanders. (FRCS 3e)
• Guyanothaz CR 24 Living Male wyrm red Smoking Mountains, Unther (Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting 187, Old Empires 41) (DoF)
• 1372. Burning Mountain. One of the Smoking Mountains (the range that separates northern Unther from southern Chessenta) recently erupted explosively, raining down hot ash for nearly a hundred miles in every direction. The explosion displaced monsters from the rest of the range, most of which have gone north. Included in this horde are young dragons, kir-lanans, reclusive wizards, and decaying liches. Rulers of the southern cities seek to hire mercenaries and adventurers to deal with the problem before the creatures reach civilized areas. (FRCS 3e)
• The Smoky Mountains is a chain of volcanoes that run across Unther from west to east. There are two branches of these mountains. The eastern branch is dormant, with occasional puffs of steam exiting its vents, but few eruptions. The western branch is more active, with two volcanoes in particular, Mt. Fussel, and Mt. Temmikant, erupting frequently. (OE)
• A venerable red dragon lives on Mt. Temmikant; its name is Guyanothaz. It is as harmless as a venerable red dragon can be - centuries ago, an adventuring company known as the Dragon’s Bane attacked it, blinded it, and stole most of its hoard. It guards what few gems and coins it has left and survives by eating pumice stones. It knows every inch of its lair, but it is too frightened to venture into the open. (OE)
• Mount Fussel is known to be the home of a number of flocks of dreaded pyrolisks, and it is said that salamanders swim in its molten core. (OE)
• Maldraedior CR 28 Living Male dragon ascendant 3 great wyrm blue Smoking Mountains, Unther. Philosophical old sage dragon (Draconomicon [1e] 97) (DoF) (In Dalath, Unther)
• Redspawn Firebelcher (spawn of Tiamat), Smoking Mountains. (MM4)
• Mercury Dragons (DoF)
• Nestled in the Smoking Mountains, a region known for extensive mining, Gilgirn is mistakenly regarded as an active volcano by nearby communities. As a result, the miners avoid the fiery mountainhold completely. [It is a fortress inhabited by fire giants.] (Exemplars of Evil)

-Concerning Tymanther itself, this nation is new, introduced in the FRCG, and that's the only source of information for it, asides for the FRPG as well.

There's also some Tymanther information available in the RPGA module TYMA-1, "Elder Wisdom."

Any chance of someone posting all of the new info/lore from the RPGA modules someplace? I don't particualarly care about the module but would like access to the new Realms intel.

I would agree with this. It would, in fact, make a great deal of sense to create a bunch of "FACT ONLY" threads on the new/redesigned areas. On what board, not sure, but it would be great to be able to access such info without digging through piles of threads and posts.

I'm not sure there's a fair use way to describe what's in the modules in any detail.

Talkin' in general, my man. And what one would consider "canon" at this point.

I mean, there may not be much right now, but you did state the question. More lore is sure to arrive. Might as well get it documented.

And, if it can't be taken as fact, then simply note that it is POSSIBLE or something.
