#1 dracowayfarer Jan 19, 2010 15:48:04	As some of you may know/remember, I am running a heroic-level campaign centered around Cormanthor. The primary antagonists so far are the drow, but there are also fey and encounters with the feywild. I am wondering if the new Underdark book will be useful to me in this campaign. There's a possibility it might pass into the underdark, but I'm wondering if I should run out and pick it up now, or if I can wait until we get into paragon level hijinks.
#2 sfdragon Jan 19, 2010 16:41:04	the new underdark book, will likely be geared toward the generic quasi-setting of POL. it wont have maps of the underdark in Faerun, wont be useful there. It will likely have ideas that can be converted  easily enough. I cant tell you to pick it up now or wait, becuase I would have to stop and look at it to gain an oppinion of it. you think wotc would put out a softcover splat  for the various areas, and one splat for pp and ed of the realms....well face it, putting out hardcover splat costs money. asfar as right now though, getting the book wont hurt (save your wallet). but I'd tell you to take time to look through it first.
#3 The_Silversword Jan 20, 2010 20:21:26	I havnt picked it up yet, but it sounds like itll be a good one. I hope the have some Realms specific stuff in there like the Draconomicon 2 book. But yeah i agree with sfdragon. Its not Realms specific, so you dont absolutly need it, but it still might come in handy.
#4 sfdragon Jan 21, 2010 16:02:42	from looking at the new underdark book, It has nothing realms specific. It has only one thing of note, and that it has the vault of the drow in it, a city of the drow, of which is from Greyhawk. I will not be getting it.
#5 iakhovas Jan 22, 2010 13:54:45	The new Underdark sourcebook is not targeted at the Forgotten Realms setting, but it does contain quite a bit of material that could easily be imported into any subterranean campaign. I was lucky enough to contribute to this book, so I could be a little biased.

I was lucky enough to contribute to this book, so I could be a little biased. I didn't contribute, I am not biased... but I agree. There is a lot of really good stuff within that I will be using in my next Underdark campaign set in the Forgotten Realms, especially the living fortress of Hraak Azul with its fungal altars. Sure, the stuff about Torog is basically a waste of space for FR DMs. C'est la vie; there's still enough good stuff for my FR games for me to be happy with the purchase.
#8 Duke5150 Jan 23, 2010 9:55:40	I really like the new underdark book. I can see how it could be good for many resources, but it will fall short if you are looking for FR focused ideas. I'd recommend looking at the book yourself and then decide, rather than taking the opinion of others without even looking at it.  What others find useless you may find useful.
#9 Diffan Jan 24, 2010 4:55:27	In the 3.5 Drow of the Underdark book, they mention the magical field Farazee-something (I could never remember how to pronounce/spell it). But with the explosion of the Weave and how magic has changed, does this effect still function or is it too gone? I'm pretty sure the new Underdark book doesn't cover this but I was wondering if there were other sources or people's own thoughts on the matter.

#12 anchovy_pizza Nov 26, 2010 9:46:31	I just got this, and I'm wondering how DMs have incorporated elements from this book into their campaigns in the past year. I wish the book had a page of advice for doing this... maybe I haven't found it yet. I'm especially interested in your thoughts on how Torog could integrate into an FR campaign.
