The Valley of the Gods is a fable -- it may well not exist at all, or not in Faerûn, and hasn't been placed on any published map.

I just re-read the Twilight Giants trilogy, and there was no mention of it (and that series covered a LOT of Northern real-estate - I had forgotten how much).

They did mention the fabled kingdom of Gilthwit to the far north... but that was just a play on words (and just a legend).

If I used it at all, I would say at there is a valley somewhere where the human creator race (the ones that built the citadel of the Raven) all were instantly frozen in-place (when the world was sunderd and the axial tilt changed). They weren't really gods, but they were so much more advanced then all the other humans that they might as well have been (to those primitives, anyway).

At least, thats how I'd spin it - nothing official, of course.

By 'not in Faerûn' I was thinking of the Outer Hero Planes of Glorantha at the edges of the mundane world, or in D&D lore Bahamut's palace behind the east wind, or the legendary places where artefacts can be destroyed -- places you can walk or sail to but which aren't quite of the world. This, also, is somewhat how Faerûnians think of the distant, mysterious far West, South and East -- not just as compass directions on a globe.

As in Robert E. Howard's "The Frost-Giant's Daughter", who can say what's brought on by extreme cold and fatigue, or god-granted vision? If my PCs found Faerûn's Valley of the Gods, I doubt they find it in the same way and in the same place a second time.

-An interesting take on it...

It's similar to how Capatain Barabossa found the 'land of the Dead' in PotC III - you have to first be lost to find it.
