Is there any information yet on the Vilhon Reach area besides what has happened in Chondath with Akanul and the formerly sunken cities of Jaamdath? or is that about all the information before the 4E FR campaign setting arrives in stores?

Yes. Its now called East Eberron and New Warcraft, depending on who you're talking too

-All we have is that mention in whichever article it was. The FRCG is going to be released in a little bit, though, so we'll have a definitive answer soon.

There might be some more information on the way, but your best bet is to wait for the FRCG to come out.

One article (I forget which now) referred to the region as The Vilhon Wilds.

Not exactly sure what that implies, other then a name-change.

So now we are entering the calm before the storm...

How apt...

It does have that uneasy quiet feeling around here lately, like you get in the eye of a Hurrcane...

Soon all hell will break loose.

I wonder what has happened to Thay and the enclaves in the last century.

They (WotC) have likened it to the Plateau of Leng, so obviously its going to have a much more Lovecraftian feel to it.

No more Red Wizards - Red Wizards live elsewhere and have become like Paki's - they've cornered the market on convenience stores. :P

Szass Tam has pretty much killed, ousted, or exiled anyone who didn't go along with his new policies (in other words - that he is now supreme ruler).

-Not particularly, no. They are still releasing preview articles and DRAGON content for free, so there's conversation about.

Yes, but more and more, the questions about things not in those articles are getting the wait for the FRCG answer.

-Oh, that's what you meant. I misunderstood.

-Well, it's been like that since the beginning. Since November, people have been asking about the status of the Seldarine. We know now as much as we did then. We still have to wait for the FRCG, like we've been saying from the beginning, to find out for sure.

To me, it implies that the area is literally wild--much of the civilization that was there has been wiped out.

That, and without the water there, since it receded, it may have seemed wrong to call it the reach anymore.

-Burn.

-Lower water levels could result in a large swamp. The Vilhon Swamps? The Vilhon Marsh? The Vilhon Kull?

I heard the whole place has become a hot and steamy resort-area for the Faerûnian well-to-do.

And they're filming a new video there - Girls Gone Vilhon Wild. :D

Well, there is a giant semi-sentient crystal there, at least in my version. The Well of Elders, a repository of knowledge and memory for Jhaamdath. (And yes, it is derived from the kiira, Silvermind thought the elves were on to something with those, and wanted to apply it on a grand scale). And there are a few inactive crystal mines, which are probably still gaurded by crystal golems to keep out Illithids and the like. And I don't even want to know what has become of Hunter's Hold, the underdark outpost of the Illithid Slayers.

We didn't make a habit of imprisoning dangerous being under our cities, that was the Nars and the elves. We made sure to bind them well away from ourselves, otherwise they might have found a way to tap in to the Well or the Udoxias and start causing all sorts of problems.
