| #1shivafangJun 13, 2008 23:11:50 | There's a new RPGA character creations guideline that says that players may use anything defined as a 'player resource' in all games. So far, the sources listed as 'player resource' are everything from the PHB, everything from Martial Power, and everything in Dragon Magazine except for Magic Items and Rituals. The warforged has just been released as a class in Dragon Magazine. This makes it legal in ALL RPGA games. Now granted I'm sure they'll create a corollory to this in the campaign documentation. However it seems a counter-intuitive way of allowing things. "You can have access to everything this source except what we specifically tell you." They'll have to make sure to keep it updated every time they release a new product or Dragon issue to exclude non world stuff. Otherwise people will make a character only to have it become illegal when it gets 'updated'. |

| #3GreenKnightJun 14, 2008 0:18:23 | Those guidelines are the basic guidelines for the RPGA. As it says on the first page... In addition to the general rules in this guide, each program has its own appendix with additional information specific to the program. What's true for the RPGA in general isn't necessarily true for Living Forgotten Realms. |
| #4shivafangJun 15, 2008 23:25:16 | Which is why I said.. it would make more sence to disallow everything and then let the individual campaigns allow its own stuff (Like they did in 3.5) rather than allow everything and have the campaigns disallow stuff. So the campaigns basically have to publish their updates every week at this rate, since Dragon articles are released bit by bit, and by the RPGA guidelines, they are available as soon as they are published. |

But, I don't know what Warforged are made of either, so we're at point one either way. ![]() -But, for someone who absolutely, positively, must play a Warforged, there's your "loophole". |

They can have custom platings of metal - or none.Originally Posted by smerwin29 Also, the regions are desemphatised for players. The player characters could be travelers from affar, as by the honored FR tradition. |

That's an easy fix if ever there was one. Put an entry in the document that says "Bloodforged Golem", with an illustration of a Bloodforged, and a description of their appearance and the materials they're made of (clay, etc). Then on one line simply say "Bloodforged Golems use the same rules for Warforged from Dragon #X". And that's it. I doubt whatever materials they're made from actually matters. Wood, clay, etc, the mechanics would likely be the same. Easy enough to take the mechanics while reflavoring the background. |

| #18markustay63Jun 16, 2008 17:31:09 | Both sides of the argument - On the one hand, normally each setting used for "Living" campaigns has its own subset of setting-specific rules. On the other hand, they have clearly demonstrated their desire for "One rules to rule them all" philosophy to be paramount in 4e, and the idea is that ANY rule from ANY setting will be useable in every other setting. Not having to worry about 'FR PrCs" or "Eberron Feats" may be a good thing in the long run, but no difference between races or classes from setting to setting may be a bit too homogenous for most of us. |
| #19gomeztooJun 17, 2008 2:26:27 | It would make me wonder why we have a ' living' campaign set in the Forgotten Realms if we are not going to bother to actually stick to the setting. IMO, if youw ant to play anything, they should have grabbed 5the 'core' setting (that is, none at all), and be done with it. If you place a campaign in a specific world, stick to the world. That means including and excluding specific elements. IMO, Dragon articles can be fixed simpy by tagging articles as 'FR', 'Eberron' or 'Generic'. This would mean that FR articles are useful in FR, Eberron articles in Eberron, and Generic articles everywhere. Specific exceptions can then be made. Note that I wouldn't mind encountering a bloodforged in a scenario as a (unique) NPC/monster. But meeting bloodforged in any regularity when played by PCs would ruin my suspension of disbelief and spoil my mood, and be a reason to just not play. Gomez |
