| #1liensamohtOct 08, 2009 15:44:02 | Well, the statement is in the title. Just finished The Ghost King and man, what a lame way for people to go out. I mean WOW can't anyone just die. Sorry for the frustration but the build up was great, you just knew that someone was going to go out in a blaze of glory, then Lame... So many questions and very few answers. Also, I liked Jarlax and crew as mostly bad guys, not the sentimental fools they became in this novel. Just needed to vent a little |
| #2LordManshoonOct 08, 2009 16:04:19 |
Hmm. RAS letting the reader down with a sub-par third book in a trilogy? It's like deja vu. (Yes, world, I didn't care for The Two Swords.) ![]() I still haven't gotten around to reading TGK. I'll most likely just wait til Christmas. If you don't mind answering a question: Do the prologue and/or epilogue take place in the past or the modern 1479 DR? I've been itching to find out, but I haven't been able to get down to the bookstore. |
| #3liensamohtOct 08, 2009 16:10:52 | Neither really, I just glanced back through to try and find a date and there are none given. I read it really fast though. The only date given is 8 years after the events at Luskin I think. Even Drizzt's musings, or whatever they are, are written in the present tense with no hint of the future or past really. The book was really all over the place with six or seven subplots and almost no resolutions to any of them. Don't get me wrong it was an ok read it was just a really rushed feeling book. |
| #4LordManshoonOct 08, 2009 16:15:49 |
I see. My thanks. I only asked because I and a few others had a hunch regarding the prologue and epilogue of TOK: that they combined were the RAS story which had been slated for The Grand History of the Realms but got cut. The difference between TOK and TPK's pro/epi was a nudge in that direction; this is a further nudge. |
| #5liensamohtOct 08, 2009 16:37:14 | Well the book is written rather strangely, kinda like an Ed Greenwood book. In every other instance of the spellplague there are catastrophic effects. The way it is written you aren't even sure if they are in the beginning, middle or end of the failing of the weave. Cattie-brie and Drizzt are both washed up in blue fire and she gets a spell-scar, but the super awsome Drizzt is unfazed. I thought this was just some bad magical after effects until later in the book. The timeline in this book is just really hard to follow, it takes them a long time to get to Spirit-Soaring, then poof, in one sentence they are back at the Hall. No sight seeing no recollections, musings, nothing. Based on what the characters are saying it starts and ends in conjunction with the spellplague though. It's just that R.A. goes out of his way with every character to confirm that they have no idea what is going on. |
| #6sfdragonOct 08, 2009 16:45:58 | Its also the last that will have RAS's favorite characters, so if it was a bad read, it was a saying goodbye. No more Wulfgar,Bruenor, Regis, Cattie-brie, etc |
| #7liensamohtOct 08, 2009 17:03:44 | I would not be so sure of that. Maybe the end of their journey's as we currently know them but the way it's written they are not going to be as dead as they should be. |
| #8bright07Oct 08, 2009 17:22:04 | I would say this story takes place in 1385DR,during the year the SpellPlague was unleashed. Some of what happens to some of these characters may be so they could return at a later date, since not everyone can live as long as Drizzt ,and bring the story in line with 1479DR. |
| #918DELTAOct 08, 2009 22:21:32 | So...pretty much the book is crap? |
| #10sfdragonOct 09, 2009 3:51:19 | dunno, my signed copy hasnt come yet.
and no two people like the same things so....... I personally dislike Artemis , but the promise of the witch king was a good read, and I disliked the road of the patriarch |
| #11bright07Oct 09, 2009 4:27:41 | The book is pretty good.I just thought the ending stunk. This book will be a disaster if Salvatore decides that this is his last Drizzt book.I sincerely doubt that since the man is milking a gold mine. |
| #1218DELTAOct 09, 2009 8:02:50 | I pretty much got tired of Drizzit(this one is just for you LK where ever you are! |
| #13liensamohtOct 09, 2009 8:32:03 | So this is what came of the book.... Spoilers. Cattie-brie and Regis are dead. Scooped up by Melliki and given there own personal paradise. Cadderly is now the Ghost King, but forced to protect his destroyed library forevermore from the Shadowfell Artemis is hinted at but other than that nothing Bruenor can only say elf alot Jarlax is a good guy and in love with Cattie-brie and is on a mission to find her out of the goodness of his heart Denir wrote himself into the metatext and Ogma sent Cadderly an e-mail to become the Ghost King. Drizzt is pissed even though he saw Melliki (His god not hers) take his wife and friend (don't halfling have their own god) Drizzt will find wulfgar Danica, her kids, Pikel, Ivan, and Kimmurel well there just hangin... Somewhere. |
| #14The_SilverswordOct 09, 2009 8:35:25 | Ahhh so thats what happened to Denir. |
| #15LordManshoonOct 09, 2009 9:11:53 |
So he might have pulled a Mask (of sorts)? Interesting. This just makes me want to get a copy as soon as possible. But I'm having a good laugh at the idea of Regis and Catti-brie going to Mielikki's grove for all eternity. This is just an attempt to keep their souls nice and safe for whenever RAS next needs them. |
| #16liensamohtOct 09, 2009 9:34:26 |
It was not even that subtle, Regis is musing and relates that Cattie-brie is peaceful and content but he understands that he is just a visitor. He even trys to leave but can't so he becomes the defacto care taker always setting a place for visitors who never come. |
| #1718DELTAOct 09, 2009 15:41:43 | Yep the more I hear, the stupider it sounds. I will wait for the paperback and THEN read it. Looks like I wont be missing much. Artemis in love with Cattie. I guess RA forgot about when Art had Cattie prisoner... |
| #18liensamohtOct 09, 2009 15:58:28 |
Actually it's Jarlax who is infatuated with her, Jarlax also held her prisioner in Menzenberrozan or however heck you spell that, and Artimis I guess you would say kidnapped her. It's kinda funny because there is a direct reference to that; how Jarlax treated her and actually helped them excape. This from Drizzt! Oh well, reverse stockholm syndrome anyone? On a side note the all knowing Hephastus melded with the crystall shard 6 liches and a mind flayer who can pinpoint where everyone who blinded/destroyed him cannot find Artemis. Neither can Jarlax. |
| #1918DELTAOct 09, 2009 23:14:33 | That just sealed the deal for me...I wont be reading that garbage now. I can see it now, Jarlalxle will now go looking for Art in 1479 so he can have the 'MUNCHKIN' item, while Drizzit tries to stop him. |
| #20The_SilverswordOct 09, 2009 23:27:05 | I dont know it sounds like he filled in some gaps, so im gonna have to check it out, even though i havnt read a Drizzt novel since the Crystal Shard. |
| #21gadrenOct 10, 2009 1:45:10 | I just read the book. Though I feel Lien's summary is misleading (especially concerning Jarlaxle), I agree that the end was INCREDIBLY dissapointing. Actually, I thought the treatment of Catti overall was really lame. But seriously, Drizzt goes through the whole book trying to save her, and in the end he fails miserably? Seriously? And, he was so willing to do anything to save her, but the excuse is he has no way of going to the Shadowfell... even when there is a giant freakin unclosable door to the plane in the town next door, and it even says they passed through the town on the way home... Seriously, you htink Drizzt would've gone in after her.. |
| #22ImruphelOct 10, 2009 22:27:15 | Honestly, what do any of you expect? RAS has gone the George Lucas route. Like GL, he had his successful first trilogy (OK, RotJ had ewoks... and that was the beginning of the end), but now he has devolved into an ugly and unfunny parody of his former self. Look at the names that are becoming even more stupid. Look at the dialogue from, inter alia, that silly dwarf with the two morningstars/flails. Why would anyone be surprised with Jarlaxle falling in love with Catti-Brie?
|
| #23gadrenOct 10, 2009 22:34:43 |
Jarlaxle doesn't fall in love with Catti-brie, dammit. Caring about someone is not the same thing as falling in love with them. He also cares about Drizzt and Artemis quite a bit, if you've read all the novels. Is J in love with them too? I actually liked the way he handled the end of Artemis in the other trilogy. I don't see why his "beloved characters of twenty years" don't get the same respect. Catti-brie has gone from a strong female character to one that got almost no real dialogue in the last two books and goes out in as lame a way as possible. In fact, in his more recent books RAS has developed a strong tendency towards killing off most of the strong female characters. And then the best part? He says the book was inspired by his wife! I'm not quite sure how to take that. |
| #24Nai_CalusOct 11, 2009 5:09:07 |
*insert bad yaoi fanfics here* Of course he is. ;p I have yet to successfully read a Drizzt novel. I've tried twice, but I just haven't been able to get past the first 50 pages or so. |
| #25bright07Oct 11, 2009 11:09:08 | RAS is also the same guy who killed off Chewbacca in the Star Wars New Jedi Order(I don't care if it was a group decision).I think this guy kills off fan favorites in the lamest way possible sometimes. The only truly meaningful fan favorite death was Cadderly. That part actually was good for the story and was pretty respectful of the character. But killing off Cattie-brie like that was a complete waste. |
| #26LordManshoonOct 11, 2009 11:31:55 | Before this topic starts to veer off into RAS-bashing (which seems to be looming on the horizon), I'd like to remind everyone as a precautionary step that severe criticism of the authors has been known to attract the attention of the ORCs. So, let's try to keep this constructive, and primarily focused on The Ghost King, not its author. And though I have yet to read TGK, I won't begrudge RAS for giving his characters the fates he desires. They are his to do with as he pleases, so long as WOTC does not overrule him (which does not often happen in his case). |
| #27bright07Oct 11, 2009 13:38:53 | I meant no disrespect to RAS.He is still one of the greatest fantasy authors of all time. The Ghost King is still a great read, even though the ending was dissapointing. |
| #28rauricOct 11, 2009 19:56:27 | Manny is just saying that RAS bashing got novel discussions banned on these forums years ago. So toning it down from 11 to about 5 would be adviseable. RAS got me into FR in 1987. I liked most of his stuff at the time but got tired by Drizzt's stagnation as a character. I liked the evolution of Artemis and Jax but wish Drizzt would receive some of that same treatment. Anyway is it was not for RAS I would probably not be much of a reader or a gamer. |
| #29godspeace21Oct 12, 2009 0:33:07 | Yeah all this bashing makes me feel bad to find Drizzt to be one of the most fascinating fantasy characters I've read about in years. I find him very similar to Marvel or DC superheroes in terms of powers and the way he's written about. People don't bash Batman for not changing every storyline, but Drizzt is hated for being pretty much the same character as he waas 20 years ago. Granted I've only read up to about halfway through The Silent Blade.
Anyway, I am excited to read about the Ghost King. I actually just purchased the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide, so it's interesting to read what it said about the Spirit Soaring in conjunction of what I've read here. Quick question though. From those that read the book: what happened to Bruenor? The Campaign Guide says Old King Bruenor died, but the book seemed to show him alive. Didn't know if maybe he just transported to 1479 in a way that would seem him dead. Read the last few pages of the book because I had to know what happened and it seemed he was good to go. |
| #30liensamohtOct 12, 2009 11:29:51 | I would like to clear up a few things. First I liked the book. Was it the best, no. Was it the worst? Far from it. I started this post out of frustration. I'm sure that it was written that way too. I can not imagine what it is like to have developed that many characters over that much time and then have to loose them. That being said most of the main characters were simplified and there personalities magnified with little explanation. The reason I believe this is because R.A. had too much too do and not enough pages. I did not mean to summarize this book, I just listed some of the strange things and, like the author, oversimplified them. Jarlax is not in love with Cattie-brie. Infatuated with, I believe so. Bruenor is not a fool who can only say "Elf" either but man did that ever wear thin. It just seems that if Danica and the kids, the town of Carradoon, Kimmeruel and the the Boulder shoulder brothers were left out somehow he could have focused on giving a little more insight into some of the decisions the characters made. So, should you read it, of course, If you are into D&D gaming at all or like to follow the lore. The revelations that Cadderly made make for some interesting assumptions about how and why magic still works. From this you can draw some excellent conclusions as to the use of magic in 4e.
|
| #31LordManshoonOct 14, 2009 16:16:38 | Gee, I'm so glad I missed my chance for a free copy of TGK. What folly... Oh well. I suppose RAS will just pry the money out of my coffers like he also does. (Also, good to see Erianthe is back.)
|
| #32The_SilverswordOct 14, 2009 17:13:08 |
Im kinda peeved i didnt get a free copy! if only i was on here sooner! Im not a huge fan of Drizzt but TGK sounds like it fills some gaps in the timeline, so if nothing else im gonna want to read it for that. And i dont think ive had the pleasure of meeting Erianthe but im glad Erianthe is back as well |
| #33StiggerOct 15, 2009 3:36:28 | Yet more reasons as to why I avoid the novels like there's an outbreak of Ebola in town... |
| #34darth_k-travaOct 15, 2009 19:00:27 |
I didn't get a free copy either.... But then I have my copy ordered thru Amazon.... |
| #35sfdragonOct 15, 2009 19:07:39 | I bought my copy froom RAS's shop and got it signed |
| #3618DELTAOct 16, 2009 7:52:30 | Well now aren't we special? |
| #37sfdragonOct 16, 2009 11:08:38 | no, justs nuts..... |
| #38sfdragonOct 16, 2009 14:25:06 | cadderly became truly one with ruins of spirit soaring cathedral, setting wards around it for all time to keep the dread dracolich cres=nshiwhatever trapped there. would make for a good adventure dont you think, travel to the shadowfell and destroy idracolich and free cadderly from hios final task.... truelly epic. |
| #39angelus_obscuraOct 17, 2009 3:07:48 | Interesting, thanks. Did Cadderly also make some revelations about the nature of magic, or something? Seems like someone earlier said something to that effect. Yes, magic by numbers (a la theme of the new 4E setting) He discovers Deneir obsessing over the failing Weave and becoming absorbed into it, thereby creating the Metatext, a seemingly new form of magic. All about mathematics, etc. It's like Deneir himself is the 4E god. I was truly disappointed in this book. It is a HUGE copout in my opinion and I think RAS does not like the new setting all, as his writing wasn't enthusiastic. All the magical scenes felt hollow and without flavor. They were literally cut/pasted from the PHB and DP. GAH! And all that buildup for Cattie and then kill her off?!?!? WTF. We barely even experienced her being a wizard!!! Okay so RAS gave her a spellscar, that did NOTHING but take her out of the equation completely. Even the main villain felt half-arsed. -sigh- The ONLY part of the book I enjoyed was when Thibbledorf Pwent humped the dracolich's leg off. I LOL'd at that part. |
| #40The_SilverswordOct 17, 2009 14:35:38 | Yes, magic by numbers (a la theme of the new 4E setting) He discovers Deneir obsessing over the failing Weave and becoming absorbed into it, thereby creating the Metatext, a seemingly new form of magic. All about mathematics, etc. It's like Deneir himself is the 4E god. Wasnt magic always about mathmatics? I always saw spells as like complex equations. I mean wizards still had to study the spells, or put some work into coming up with new spells. It wasnt like you was connected to the Weave and bam you could do magic. Actually I think they way 4e magic works i think it makes more sense to have a Weave to be connected to. But I guess this Metatext is the new Weave. Interesting. The more i hear about this book the more i want to read it. |
| #41StiggerOct 18, 2009 13:14:41 | I think that misses the underlying difference between sorcery and invocations versus the more disciplined and academic approach wizards use. Not to mention the subtleties of bardic magic. Were it just a matter of books and calculations, just about anyone could do it to some extent. |
| #42The_SilverswordOct 18, 2009 18:17:33 |
That is true. They probably should of just left it a little vague about magic rather than making up a new "Weave". Let people describe how it worked how they wanted. Still it is nice to know of Deniers fate. So i guess hes like the god of magic now? or perhaps Oghma? |
| #43LordManshoonOct 18, 2009 18:22:10 | Still it is nice to know of Deniers fate. So i guess hes like the god of magic now? or perhaps Oghma? Going by 4E logic? No. Because if Deneir/Oghma was the open god of magic, Shar would know, and she would've made a move against either one, since it's been said she isn't letting anyone try to make a play for Mystra's vacant throne. And if one was the secret deity of magic? Shar would also know that, and would do the same thing. So, Deneir and/or Oghma's ties to magic is/are not solid enough to label either one a deity of magic, unless there's an element missing from this. |
| #44The_SilverswordOct 18, 2009 18:26:26 | Yeah im not sure about this Metatext. It might make more sense to me once i read the book. Or maybe theyll clear it up in a future realms article or something? |
| #45sfdragonOct 18, 2009 21:07:20 | the meta text didnt quite make since to me either. |
| #46The_SilverswordOct 18, 2009 23:05:35 | And you actually read the book didnt you? Well hopefully well see some game info on it. |
| #47sfdragonOct 18, 2009 23:25:55 | well we could go bug those over in the LFR section or hop over to RAS's website and ask him.
on the otherhand we could go ask someone else his take...... |
| #48Nai_CalusOct 18, 2009 23:38:33 | Pfft Shar. Corellon could totally take the mantle of God of Magic if he wanted, he has more Divine Ranks than she does. That he hasn't, given his long association with elven magic and his power level, is more an indication that he doesn't want to, rather than that he can't. I can see some other god mentioning it to him and him saying "God of Magic? Goodness no, ugh, I have enough to worry about with these damned elves/eladrin/half-elves/good-aligned drow/other fey creatures as it is, besides, I do it on the side anyway, no reason to start a big mess over it." |
| #49The_SilverswordOct 19, 2009 1:58:41 | I think Elminsters the god of magic. I heard he cant cast spells now cause he hears voices in his head. I think those voices are prayers from the faithful hes pickin up. Year of the Ageless One? I betya Elminsters the Ageless One whos also Volo! Think about it, you ever see Elminster and Volo in the same place at the same time? Elminster does have the Hat of Disguise, and Volo always wears a hat! Coincidence? I think not! |
| #50sfdragonOct 19, 2009 2:54:31 | little secret for you about MAster Volo.
he is covered by NDA |
| #51The_SilverswordOct 19, 2009 3:34:50 | what more proof do you need? |
| #52sfdragonOct 19, 2009 4:19:20 | proof for what, that he is immortal???? |
| #5318DELTAOct 19, 2009 5:26:32 | Just about everything in the Realms is smothered in NDA. It would surprize me if Elminsters underwear became the new god of magic in the Realms. |
| #54darth_k-travaOct 19, 2009 11:25:12 | Interesting, thanks. Did Cadderly also make some revelations about the nature of magic, or something? Seems like someone earlier said something to that effect. Particularly when the Denieran clergy's job was to search for this "Metatext" in the first place.... Now to find out that Denier himself cause it to form? Can anyone extrapolate on this? |
| #55gersanOct 19, 2009 19:33:13 | So during that novel Deneir lost his deity wrights and powers yes? Do Cadderly could steel use his divine powers during adventures? |
| #56sfdragonOct 19, 2009 19:44:44 |
no Denier became merged with the metatext. and the rituals for cleric would give power mroe or less. Denier isnt dead, nor he is living |
| #57StiggerOct 20, 2009 10:06:07 | I suppose I shouldn't bring up the notion that Leira corrupted the Metatext a good long while ago... as that would probably confuse the issue too much. Oops, guess I just did... |
| #58sfdragonOct 20, 2009 14:01:57 | thats just what she wanted you to think |
| #59The_SilverswordOct 20, 2009 17:30:22 |
Corrupted is a little too strong aint it? I could see her influencing the metatext subtlety. I dont see corruption as really her thing. We are talking about the Goddess of Illusions right? and not the goddess of joy? I always get those two mixxed up, I think thats one of the reasons they "offed" her. |
| #6018DELTAOct 20, 2009 17:41:46 | Hey at least he isnt talking about Shar... |
| #61The_SilverswordOct 20, 2009 17:44:21 | Very true, now she would definatly be one to corrupt it. The Shadowtext. |
| #62sfdragonOct 20, 2009 18:22:42 | Stop giving WOTC ideas you two |
| #63darth_k-travaOct 20, 2009 19:47:40 | Especially FREEBIE ideas. If you're gonna flaunt ideas like that, then get PAID for them. |
| #64The_SilverswordOct 20, 2009 19:53:37 |
That is a hell of an idea right there! We should get to work on that and submit it in! Of course im guessing they already got something in mind, there have been hints of the Shadow Weave being reformed. Theres all them Shades around the ruins of Ordulin trying working on it. Who knows all of the intersting things theyve already came up with? |
| #65Nai_CalusOct 20, 2009 19:57:01 | Yeah seriously shut up before I send Erevan to steal your stuff. |
| #66The_SilverswordOct 20, 2009 20:28:23 |
NOOOOO!!! not my stuff!!! |
| #67LordManshoonOct 20, 2009 20:32:38 | You know, in a round-about way, Shar did bring about Deneir's destruction. Deneir seems to have only become obsessively interested in the Metatext with the destruction of the Weave, which was brought about by Mystra's death, which was orchestrated by Shar. Deneir's merge with the Metatext is the result of Shar (and Cyric) slaying Mystra and altering the state of magic. So, indirectly, Shar did in Deneir, by inspiring him to merge his soul with the Metatext in his pursuit of knowledge regarding the new structure of magic and the cosmos. |
| #68The_SilverswordOct 20, 2009 20:43:38 |
Yes! That does make alot of sense! All part of Shar's masterplan. |
| #69StiggerOct 21, 2009 9:38:42 | Nope, Leira corrupted it, weaving a gigantic, subtle falsehood into its truth that would unweave knowledge, or some such... a reality virus (in the computer sense) if you will. |
| #70LordManshoonOct 21, 2009 9:43:52 |
... And, my point was that Deneir took a gander into the snare Leira set because of Shar's actions. So, again, in a round-about way, Shar did play a role in Deneir's death. She brought about the magical maelstrom > Magic changed > Deneir looked to the Metatext for answers > Deneir is absorbed and ceases to exist as we know it. |
| #71StiggerOct 21, 2009 9:49:07 | No, Shar was a pawn in Leira's master plan, not the other way around. Sadly however, Leira was just a pawn herself in Corellon's master plan to bring pain and suffering to the mortals... |
| #72sfdragonOct 21, 2009 10:48:59 | |
| #7318DELTAOct 21, 2009 16:36:31 | Dude, that is about as annoying as my 18DELTA(CHOSEN OF CYRIC)tm crap... |
| #74The_SilverswordOct 21, 2009 17:41:52 | I was worried there for a bit Stigger, but if Corellon is behind the whole thing, then all is well. Praise Corellon! sorry Delta, I mean... Praise Curellon!!!
|
| #75sfdragonOct 21, 2009 18:09:16 | you mean 18Delta serves the god of medicine ???
now why hasnt your god cured the spell plague??? |
| #76LordManshoonOct 21, 2009 18:10:22 |
He can't cure that rash Araushnee left him with eons ago. You really think his doctor aspect can cure the Spellplague? |
| #77sfdragonOct 21, 2009 18:11:39 |
well now that you mention it.... |
| #78angelus_obscuraOct 22, 2009 13:46:06 | So during that novel Deneir lost his deity rights and powers yes? Deneir is gone, yes. Methinks he merged with the Weave to stabilize it and change it into something that doesn't require a deity to control it. Cadderly himself stated in the book that Deneir stopped answering his prayers, and that his new powers are coming from an unknown source (most likely Oghma). His new powers reflect the new cleric system from 4E, ie a Divine Glow/Conserate Ground that follows him around burning foes and healing allies, Deneir's clerics still maintaining their powers even with his absence (being ordained and all that). You know, in a round-about way, Shar did bring about Deneir's destruction. Praise Shar! ![]() I am humbled by the depths of her wisdom and the reach of her plans. The bitterness and despair of the Deneirans tastes sweet to the Lady of Night. |
| #79angelus_obscuraOct 22, 2009 13:57:05 |
Your tears nourishes the Lady of Sorrows. CRY, my precious! My mistress licks your tears for they taste so, so sweet. ![]() |
| #80StiggerOct 22, 2009 15:03:53 | Bah, Shar only wishes she could compete with the misery and suffering Corellon and his Seldarine have brought to the world. She's an amateur comparatively. |
| #81The_SilverswordOct 22, 2009 16:41:33 | Ye Gods! Another Sharran? I just may have to switch over to Selune to balance things out. And Stigger what is your beef with Corellon? Did he forget your birthday or something? |
| #82darth_k-travaOct 22, 2009 18:50:04 |
And none can compete with all the suffering that Illmater endures. |

Praise Torm, indeed!

| #86darth_k-travaOct 22, 2009 20:23:23 | Or, going by my current character, "Praise Denier and lets look for that metatext!!!" Ended up setting off a trap doing that.... going up to study a throne in the plane of shadow in the Cormyr line of modules. |
| #87JudgeDookieOct 22, 2009 21:45:26 | Bejebuz. Praise Bejebuz or shut up. PLEASE! |

Yes. Corellon visits Stigger daily trying to make up for it, but Stigger is a big mean jerk and won't even listen to him. :< |
| #90The_SilverswordOct 23, 2009 1:05:43 |
Ahhhh thats too bad. We need an intervention and make those 2 sit down and work it out. |
| #91LordManshoonOct 23, 2009 6:28:25 |
... which will result in Stigger fleeing and Corellon striking him down. |
| #9218DELTAOct 23, 2009 8:01:40 | Right... |
| #93angelus_obscuraOct 23, 2009 12:37:17 | Ye Gods! Another Sharran? I just may have to switch over to Selune to balance things out. What do you mean another one? My Sharran pride was pretty well advertised before the forums underwent these changes. I miss my old sig. T_T Figures Shar would take away the source of my joys. But that's okay, she can't help being what she is. :D |
| #94LordManshoonOct 23, 2009 13:57:05 | Ye Gods! Another Sharran? I just may have to switch over to Selune to balance things out. Speaking of which, have you and Nightseer duked it out to see who's Shar's favored? Because odds are, she values one of you more highly than the other... ![]() |
| #95StiggerOct 23, 2009 14:27:56 | Please. I fear no overgrown keebler god. My problem with him stems from his being bastard who hides his and his "chosen peoples" utter depravity behind a veneer of eco-friendly garbage. Sure, its all feel good and warm-fuzzy stuff on the surface, but get down to it and you're left with a bunch of people that would fit in with the ALF/PETA crowd quite nicely, content to unleash horrors upon the world so long as their unreasonable dogma is followed. Its a mentality of everyone being able to live their own lives free and easy, so long as it conforms to exactly what I say it should, otherwise we'll gut them... so not so free and easy afterall. They're just as bad as, if not worse than, humans in that respect. Oh, yeah, and forget Shar/Selune... its so damned 3.x era. Been there, done that, what's next... Sune's the only way for me. |
| #96Nai_CalusOct 23, 2009 16:32:38 | It's OK, Stigger, Corellon still loves you and is still willing to welcome you into his loving embrace whenever your heart heals enough to be able to open up to him. *pats your arm comfortingly* |
| #97StiggerOct 23, 2009 17:29:46 | Sorry, I have no need, much less desire, to be taken to the pits of the Abyss by that fiend or its cohorts. Sune and Sheela are more than enough for me. You have my sympathy that you have fallen for such a vile entity's charms, taken in by its seductive lies and whitewashing of history. Its my sincerest hope that you open your eyes and see the truth that history lays bare... that the Seldarine and their minions are evil incarnate. May the waters of Evergold wash away those lies you so ferverently cling to. |
| #98Nai_CalusOct 23, 2009 20:31:20 | *sighs and pats Stigger on the head* Poor, poor deluded fool. :< |
| #99sfdragonOct 23, 2009 21:34:23 | Oh by Bahamut's scaled buttocks.......
this is getting rediculous.... |
| #100The_SilverswordOct 23, 2009 21:55:16 |
Which part? Stiggers anti Seldarine sentiments or Nai's hugging and patting? Just dont mention that Sune is now part of the Seldarine, that will set both of them off |
| #10118DELTAOct 23, 2009 22:03:43 | Sune is now part of the Seldarine....
Runs and hides and watches... |
| #102The_SilverswordOct 23, 2009 22:05:36 |
I specifically stated not to say that! oh man youve done it now. |

| #106The_SilverswordOct 24, 2009 4:27:24 | I told them not to say it! No one ever listens to me! |
| #107The_SilverswordOct 24, 2009 4:50:27 | Ye Gods! Another Sharran? I just may have to switch over to Selune to balance things out. Sorry I must of missed that. I knew Nightseer is servant of the Lady of Loss, and so then theres you too, and Im sure theres many, many more hiding in the shadows... |
| #108LordManshoonOct 24, 2009 10:51:35 |
Nope. I checked, and slew all the ones I found. Nightseer and Angelus are the last of a dying breed, in these parts. ![]() |

I'm afraid nobody listens to anyone

| #110StiggerOct 24, 2009 16:16:28 | You're all sucky... crappy wingmen too. And Sune is not part of those evil and murderous Seldarine. Its WotC/NeoCon propaganda trying to smear her good name... and you know who is behind it all... |
| #111The_SilverswordOct 24, 2009 17:55:56 | The Halfling girl dancers? |

nope, remember we only blame the person in charge, |
| #114Nai_CalusOct 24, 2009 22:20:02 | Corellon's blade, that SMILEY. KILL IT WITH FIRE. AND ACID. AND THEN THROW IT INTO A SPHERE OF ANNIHILATION. |

the CAPS kill them, with cold and electricty, and then throw them into a G. Cube. |

| #123sfdragonOct 26, 2009 2:54:15 | thats okay, they dont care... not like Netheril did anything for them.
besides if Shar looses Netheril and they forget they heard you say it, then it forfills Shar's deal of forgotten secrets and loss. |
| #124StiggerOct 27, 2009 10:50:14 | Speaking of lame ways to go... |
| #125JudgeDookieOct 28, 2009 0:27:25 |
Um...I've learned relatively quickly that there is a reason for that.
That smiley would obviously kisk your ass, 18D. I'd watch what you say around it. |
| #126JudgeDookieOct 28, 2009 0:38:11 | Ironic enough, you've become exactly what 18D used to be: A smiley happy freak. |

I would say something to that, but it would just get deleted and/or get me banned. |

hey guys, the Mandates of Helm dictate this thread may end up for being locked as it is now off topic.

it ends, now mandates of Helm and all
Bruenor was da bomb |
| #131The_SilverswordOct 28, 2009 4:01:49 | All right. You are right. I just realized this isnt one of our Spam a lot threads. So back to serious discussions and spoilers. So any word on Finder? I think hes dead or has been corrupted by Moander. There is a passage in the Campaign Guide about a pit of corruption around the Dalelands, sounds alot like Moander to me. |
| #132sfdragonOct 28, 2009 4:20:34 | not that I've heard. could ask ED, however the answer I can foretell is NDA.
we can ask about the pit though....

yes it was. that s why I dont leave if for long |

Correct. Though feel free to PM me with any disgruntled comments. I'm here to listen.
Finder sucked. I hope he was corrupted by Moander and is rotting away somewhere.
QFT I feel your pain, my man. Though, I don't know why it matters--is it just me or does the insert image function fail for everyone? Even using one of the boards fail all the time. |

| #146angelus_obscuraOct 29, 2009 14:41:33 | Heehee! Anyways, what did every1 think of Cadderly dying and haunting the ruins of Spirit Soaring as a spectral warden to the imprisoned dracolich? What about Jarlaxle? I thought he has become the new Drizzt, with all the genuine compassion and heroism. I'm glad the Bouldershoulder bruthas survived. I can't imagine a Faerun without the dwarf doodad. "oo oi!" And what happens to Drizzt's and Catti-brie's foretold children? It would've been nice if they had a child at least before she went to Mylicky's Glade (auto-mated timer to keep ur heaven smelling great!). -_- |
| #147sfdragonOct 29, 2009 16:06:57 | nothing said. if anything its NDA |

Yeah. I've noticed thats a bit scarce around here these days. I almost miss our arguments over Elves with LK these days.
Never.
Enough with the NDA ****. It's driving me goonie.
|
| #149StiggerOct 30, 2009 7:39:20 | It was kind of inevitable that serious discussion would drop off I think. With the barebones approach to fluff, do-it-yourself mentality, there just isn't much to stimulate discussion beyond "yeah, good idea" and "no, crap idea". Great if your into that approach, but it doesn't do much to offer meat to sink ones teeth into. |
| #150The_SilverswordOct 30, 2009 7:48:04 | What gets me is that sfdragon yelled at me for goin off topic... and what does he add to the conversation? Dancing fruit! |

but there was this one, not nude though:

| #156The_SilverswordOct 30, 2009 16:39:12 | Sweet! Thats better than Dancing Fruit any day. I had this one DM once that used to throw the California Dancing Raisins at us. I always hated those guys, now more so. |
| #157sfdragonOct 30, 2009 16:46:35 | I has some of those back in the day from hardees...... they had the best cinamin raisin biscuits |

*chortle*
|
| #168darth_k-travaOct 30, 2009 18:03:47 |
Yup. The elf bimbo makes people retch whereas Lidda made guys....well...... I think I like the 3e "icons" rather than the ones they've got for 4e. |
| #169sfdragonOct 30, 2009 18:12:09 | some of the artwork of said elf bimbo wasnt all bad.
this one is amogst the best
still the half-elf druidess and Lidda were the best looking in the majority of the 3.x iconic art |
| #170The_SilverswordOct 30, 2009 18:12:39 |
Do they even have ones for 4e? Just seems like they got random generic characters. |
| #171The_SilverswordOct 30, 2009 18:15:44 |
Now theres some Elven Ears! |
| #172sfdragonOct 30, 2009 18:20:15 | are those ears or horns??
|
| #173The_SilverswordOct 30, 2009 18:27:24 |
Those are actually ears! |
| #174darth_k-travaOct 30, 2009 18:31:08 |
Damn. I think I can pick up Japanese tv with those things!!! |
| #175darth_k-travaOct 30, 2009 18:32:56 |
As generic as 4e is? Not likely. |
| #176The_SilverswordOct 30, 2009 18:33:40 |
Hey! he heard that! |
| #177darth_k-travaOct 30, 2009 18:37:35 | Then he needs to ajdust the ears as reception is fading out. |

He just needs some aluminum foil |
| #179sfdragonOct 30, 2009 19:03:23 |
copper wires may do better these days.... |
| #180Nai_CalusOct 30, 2009 21:31:28 | This thread needs more Devis and Soveliss. |
| #181JudgeDookieOct 31, 2009 4:41:55 |
Yeah. Part of the reason why I left five months ago. Hoped to return and find something new going on, but....
In his words: "QFT."
I don't do dancing fruit--no matter how sexy it is.
--- Oh, yeah. This thread needs to find a proper topic: Say, has DDI put out anything respectable on the demise of those lost to 4e at all? |
| #182The_SilverswordOct 31, 2009 6:56:36 |
Ask and ye shall receive
|
| #183The_SilverswordOct 31, 2009 7:08:05 |
Quite right, after reading thru the posts it seems we turned the topic into who can find the biggest elf ears. As for DDI, no they havnt put out anything respectable on the demise of anyone, mostly just Realmslore stuff. So far theyve done articles on Returned Abeir, Cormyr, The City of Airspur, The Moonshaes, Eric Scott De Bie recently did an article on a Relegious Order dedicated to Torm that split off from the Night Masks in Westgate, Very, Interesting article, but no, no real Info on those lost to us in 4e. |
| #184darth_k-travaNov 01, 2009 19:54:24 |
Too bad one has to be a DDI subscriber to be able to read that Erik article..... |
| #185The_SilverswordNov 01, 2009 19:56:37 |
Well you dont HAVE to be a member but it definately helps. |
| #186darth_k-travaNov 01, 2009 19:59:09 | Especially to read articles like that.... And I don't have spare gp laying about.... |
| #187JudgeDookieNov 02, 2009 18:06:53 | I found most of the **** coming out of DDI sucked anyway. Must we revisit "The Headless Zhent" to prove this point? |
| #188sfdragonNov 02, 2009 20:08:42 | actually, the eye if justice was good. the drizzt one was good the airispu ones were good. the one on the 20th the third airspur one will be good too..
yeah I bought a months subscription...... |
| #189The_SilverswordNov 02, 2009 20:15:08 | Whats wrong with the Headless Zhent? |
| #190sfdragonNov 02, 2009 20:24:39 | it was what , one of the exerpts from the FRCG, nothing is wrong with it, otehr than its a sleepy hollow cliche. |
| #191JudgeDookieNov 02, 2009 21:13:07 |
Was it actually mentioned in the FRCG? Where? If so:
Silversworrd, how, lame is recreating the Sleepy Hallow bit, simply because you can't think of anything original? |
| #19218DELTANov 02, 2009 23:15:47 | This is the thread to read all about it... |
| #193JudgeDookieNov 02, 2009 23:29:40 | I'm hoping that was a joke. |
| #194sfdragonNov 02, 2009 23:30:38 | well either that one or the frpg....
but yeah its image was there |
| #195darth_k-travaNov 03, 2009 16:59:22 |
Probably no lamer than putting real world cultures into the Realms.... Maztica, anyone? |
| #196sfdragonNov 03, 2009 22:18:29 | you forgot mulhaundi |
| #197JudgeDookieNov 04, 2009 0:45:15 | Well, at least there is a basis to Maztica--not the Headless Zhent. |
| #198LordManshoonNov 04, 2009 9:19:47 |
Hey, Mulhorand actually pulled its weight and contributed to the region. It was a major player in the East. Shame it was ethnically cleansed by that picky Spellplague. |
| #199darth_k-travaNov 04, 2009 13:36:30 |
That one too. Maztica was the first to come to mind, despite my friends' Ra jokes at our last FR game session.... |
| #200darth_k-travaNov 04, 2009 13:38:47 |
I would say something but I'll bet there's something in the COC abt fantasy world "ethnic cleansing" that would get me into trouble for commenting... So, I'm pleading the FIFTH. Of anything! |
| #201JudgeDookieNov 04, 2009 14:26:14 | Let's not forget that this is the "Forgotten Realms". The two aforementioned countries relate to that. It may not be what Ed had in mind from the start, but it sorta fits. |
| #202LordManshoonNov 04, 2009 15:50:58 |
The Spellplague wiped out the Mulhorandi, and damaged the Mulan bloodline. The ravages of the Spellplague resulted in an ethnic heritage taking a severe hit. My description isn't really off the mark. The Spellplague is the murderer; I'm just the unbiased third party who survived the century and recalls what he saw. ![]() But let us put the past behind us. What matters is.... Fzoul died miserably. Praise Ao! |
| #203JudgeDookieNov 04, 2009 15:55:48 | As was common before I departed, if you couldn't explain it: "SPELLPLAGUE!!!" |
| #204StiggerNov 04, 2009 16:41:39 | F-fail would pretty accurately describe him, beat down or no... |
| #205darth_k-travaNov 04, 2009 18:34:58 |
I don't care for the whole spellplague thing. But let us put the past behind us. What matters is.... Fzoul died miserably. Praise Ao! I thought he was an exarch (whatever the frell that really is...) or something... but not "dead miserably". Heck. They couldn't even make up their mind if he was a blonde or a redhead..... |
| #206LordManshoonNov 04, 2009 18:38:20 |
Well, he became an Exarch after dying. He died because the Netherese bombed the hell out of Zhentil Keep, and he got slain in the chaos. No blaze of glory, no honorable defense.... just slumping over and voiding his bowels like any ol' corpse. I consider that dying miserably for an NPC of his status. |
| #207darth_k-travaNov 04, 2009 18:38:39 |
And people thought that Star Trek Voyager sucked.....
So would've loved for our earlier FR party, including my cleric of Torm, to have gotten the chance to kick his sorry *** all over the place... |
| #208StiggerNov 05, 2009 7:39:34 | They (whoever They are!) thought ST: Voyager sucked mainly because it did... |
| #209darth_k-travaNov 10, 2009 17:27:56 | Yeah. I gave up on it because it got stupid. Same with Enterprise until the last season. |
| #210The_SilverswordNov 10, 2009 17:59:03 | When did this turn into the Star Trek thread? Fine ill play along. I liked em all except the last one they put out with whats his name from Quantum Leap. The show was supposed to take place before the orginal seris but everything looked more high tech in that show WTF? I also hated Deep Space Nine in the later seasons when it turned into a Space Soap Opera. And the first couple of seasons of STTNG I thought sucked, once they got rid of the spandex uniforms and Ryker got a beard the show become watchable. |
| #211darth_k-travaNov 10, 2009 18:38:12 |
Because would you, the audience in today's times with today's SFX tech, watch a show with, what is now, primitive SFX tech? Probably not. If Roddenberry had done Trek today, it'd have today's SFX tech. Blame Babylon 5 for DS9 becoming more serialized than it was... And dunno who to blame for all the romance on it... Riker looked MUCH better with the beard. |
| #212JudgeDookieNov 10, 2009 20:30:17 | What a lame way for this thread to go. |
| #21318DELTANov 10, 2009 20:39:02 | So what about Battlestar Galatica... |
| #214The_SilverswordNov 10, 2009 20:39:09 |
What!? you dont like Star Trek? It gives us something to do while we await another book release, and then someone can post more spoilers. |
| #21518DELTANov 10, 2009 20:45:47 | Yes it gets old waiting for the next knee-jerk reaction around here... |
| #216JudgeDookieNov 10, 2009 20:50:08 |
Lamer.
Yes, I like Star Trek just fine. But, perhaps, one of us could come up with something FR related to actually debate and discuss while we await--El' panties not included. |
| #217darth_k-travaNov 10, 2009 20:51:57 |
Never watched it after the first minute of the series. Went "WTF?" and changed channels. |
| #218darth_k-travaNov 10, 2009 20:53:07 |
Which FR Gods would the Trek characters worship? |
| #219The_SilverswordNov 10, 2009 20:58:31 |
Im not sure, I think they would all be screwed on Toril, with no computers to tell them whats up or make lunch and tea for them. I dont know maybe they would worship Gond in hopes he could give them insight into how to create magical computers. |
| #220JudgeDookieNov 10, 2009 21:05:39 | Bejebuz, you ****ing ninny's! Bejebuz!!! |
| #221The_SilverswordNov 10, 2009 21:22:09 | Hey its Realms related! |
| #222JudgeDookieNov 10, 2009 21:31:16 | My ass it is! |
| #223The_SilverswordNov 10, 2009 21:38:31 | Well with all the portals on Toril, and wormholes in Sar Trek, Its very possible for the 2 to interact. They already did X-men abd Star Trek, So we can all hope for a Star Trek/Forgotten Realms cross over. My fingers are crossed. |
| #224The_SilverswordNov 10, 2009 22:50:19 | I was kidding. But If they did do a Star Trek/Forgotten Realms team-up thing i prpbably would buy it! |
| #225StiggerNov 11, 2009 0:44:46 | It would be a short series... Something about the Prime Directive... Wizard teleports to the bridge... Whole planet full of Q's, bugger this... Warp 9.9 in any direction, engage... Insert an away-team in there somewhere and Ryker getting laid with the nearest non-human available, and maybe something with Picard's shirt off talking to El and making us all wonder what the hell was up with that one... |
| #226The_SilverswordNov 11, 2009 0:47:30 | Yes! I think we found the one to write it! |
| #22718DELTANov 11, 2009 6:12:13 | I am going to start calling JD and Silver the forums "Bert and Ernie". I just wonder who is the Pitcher, and who is the Catcher in their relationship? |
| #228StiggerNov 11, 2009 6:33:37 | I'm going with JD as the catcher... |
| #229The_SilverswordNov 11, 2009 6:41:33 |
Not funny not funny at all. |
| #230The_SilverswordNov 11, 2009 6:41:53 |
ok its a little funny |
| #23118DELTANov 11, 2009 10:30:07 |
I had it reversed myself. ![]() JD is a whiny *****...so yeah, catcher would fit. |
| #232sfdragonNov 11, 2009 13:00:13 | |
| #233darth_k-travaNov 11, 2009 16:58:03 | *chortle* |
| #234darth_k-travaNov 11, 2009 17:02:54 | Worf would probably worship Tempus. And probably more on a neutral level of the axis than the chaotic. |
| #235StiggerNov 12, 2009 4:18:47 | Early stuff, I'd definitely agree with Tempus... later though, he was going with more of a Red Knight groove as he got cagier and sneakier. |
| #236shelbydapimpNov 14, 2009 0:09:30 | lets get back on topic for a sec.. I really didn't like the way the ending of the book went however.... Athrogate and Pwent fighting as a team and cracking jokes = the WIN !!! When they were aggravating Jarlaxle and Bruenor and Athrogate made the poem about his farting pig, I was cracking the hell up. One thing I didn't understand is this....If Cadderly is sooo damn powerful that he can create a frickin castle out of nothing which is what he did with the Spirit Soaring, and can destroy a dracolich and all the shadow creatures by himself basically, why couldn't he heal Pikel and have his arm replaced. At the very least he seems like he is a high enough level cleric to cast true resurrection so I think he could cast a heal spell with enough to give Pikel his arm back. After all REGENERATE is only a 7th level cleric spell. I would love for Salvatore to do a dwarven trilogy which consists of Athrogate, Thibeldorf Pwent and Ivan and Pikel out adventuring together. At the very least I would like to see Pikel advance as a druid and see how the others advance. It would be entertaining to say the least kinda like Moe, Larry, Curley and Shemp if they were all dwarves and went adventuring. I would also like to see a novel or story about nanfoodel the gnome from mithral hall as there are not any Gnome main characters or good gnome stories in any of the D+D worlds including DRAGONLANCE, FORGOTTEN REALMS OR EBBERRON. I think that Salvatore needs to leave drizzt alone for a few years and come back to him with a fresh start and a few years rest from the character. I would also like a good Wolfgar story....even though he's a Conan/Thor wanna be |
| #237shelbydapimpNov 14, 2009 0:15:37 | Hell I could even see him doing a story mid spell plague years about Caderly's kids. After all, one of his sons is a wizard, one's a cleric and his daughter is a monk like her mom. DRAGONLACE did a whole entire series of books about the next generation of heroes from the Chronicles heroes. It involved Caramon's son, tanis's kids and sturms kids. I believe that Salvatore could do something like this with Cadderly's children. If he does come back to Drizzt again, I'd like to see him and Ed Greenwood co-write a series starring Elminster and Drizzt together because if I remember right they are only 2 of a small handfull of people who survive the SPELL PLAGUE years. |
| #238JudgeDookieNov 14, 2009 0:53:53 |
Watch it, bud. You'll certainly be catching it later. ;(
Envious much? Dude, I laughed my ass off when I saw this was what you linked to. ![]() But, if you listen to the lyrics, it pretty much describes my mindset. Unfortunately, it appears that Ozzy and I have more in common than I believed. The lyrics are correct. |
| #239sfdragonNov 14, 2009 3:12:03 | JD took this thread on a crazy train.... |
| #240StiggerNov 14, 2009 4:20:56 | Cadderly and Danica had kids? News to me... |
| #24118DELTANov 14, 2009 4:30:24 | I wonder what their sex life was like? Was it all prim and proper, or wild and crazy with alot of kink thrown in. |
| #242StiggerNov 14, 2009 4:47:38 | I dunno... he always struck as kind of asexual when it came down to it... which isn't that unusual for RAS' characters for me, thinking about it. |
| #243shelbydapimpNov 14, 2009 14:22:44 | Cadderly and Danica had kids? News to me... yes from the impression I got from the book, his oldest son who is the wizard is like 24 or 25 years old. his daughter and other son are 21 or 22 ish. it is noted in the book because of the magic of the spirit soaring that Cadderly looks younger than even his children. |
| #244JudgeDookieNov 14, 2009 18:52:32 | Watch it, toots. 'Les I unleash the wrath of Bejebuz upon your ass. |
| #24518DELTANov 14, 2009 21:17:15 | So you would throw rocks at a woman?![]() |
| #246JudgeDookieNov 14, 2009 22:19:31 | I threw a malt ball at her, you dope. Look: And Bejebuz IS the Holy Taco. Where the hell you been? Malt balls rock, BTW... |
| #24718DELTANov 15, 2009 1:26:34 | So you are throwing "Salty Chocolate Balls" at the females again Doo-Doo?![]() |

| #251drizztsmanchildNov 15, 2009 2:49:46 | Sfd: Yeah I finally was able to find a way to post from my phone....lol took forever......anything interesting I missed? |
| #25218DELTANov 15, 2009 2:55:04 | Well, well, well look who we have here... |
| #253sfdragonNov 15, 2009 3:11:38 | nah, you havn't miss much, just Dookie coming back. |
| #254drizztsmanchildNov 15, 2009 3:14:27 | Lol....yeah I'm back.....not really to keen on this new update...but c'est la vie....any update on Cyric? |
| #25518DELTANov 15, 2009 3:21:35 | Cryic SUCKS! How about that for an update... Corellon Rules! |
| #256sfdragonNov 15, 2009 3:23:53 | and DElta is about 60 some odd posts away from his 3000th post |
| #257drizztsmanchildNov 15, 2009 3:27:05 | Correllon is just Cyric's dimwitted step-child...lol |
| #25818DELTANov 15, 2009 3:28:38 | Thats right your still in the darkness... |
| #259Doombringer_of_HoarNov 15, 2009 5:15:07 | A Cyricist Here!? Where!? Let me at them! By Hoar's! Beard I SMITE theeee! |

Corellon truly has you under his spell if he can get you to botch the name of your former master. |
| #261JudgeDookieNov 15, 2009 16:20:42 | So you are throwing "Salty Chocolate Balls" at the females again Doo-Doo? What can I say? Chicks dig it. Are you kidding Dook's all about the "Salty Balls" flavor being optional...lol On topic this book just like the others felt rushed to me... Gaddammit, Drizztmanthingy--where the hell have you been?!! I've been here for a month and there's no word from you! Myrtl ran off with my Jack again and you weren't around to stop it!! |
| #262darth_k-travaNov 15, 2009 18:56:10 | A Cyricist Here!? Where!? Let me at them! By Hoar's! Beard I SMITE theeee! Let the smitin' begin!! I can't stand that bastard!!!! |
| #263The_SilverswordNov 15, 2009 19:02:31 | A Cyricist Here!? Where!? Let me at them! By Hoar's! Beard I SMITE theeee! As far as EVIL gods go I kinda like him. I mean look and all the nasty, nasty stuff Cyric has done in just the short time hes been a god. Bane has been a god for a while now and really what has he done? Stole the Tablets of Fate and enslaved goblins, not impressed. |
| #26418DELTANov 15, 2009 20:12:41 | Bane brought Hoar to heel... Used another God to return to life... Punks Fzoul out on a daily basis... |
| #265darth_k-travaNov 15, 2009 21:09:57 | Bane brought Hoar to heel... Got his ass handed to him by a Lesser God..... Priceless. |
| #26618DELTANov 15, 2009 21:18:58 | Hey, I was trying to show Banes "finer" points. Yeah, Bane blows buckets of monkey snot. Just like that idiot Cryic... |
| #267darth_k-travaNov 15, 2009 21:51:48 | Hey, I was trying to show Banes "finer" points. Bane has more finer points than Cyric the thievin' backstabber does. Cyric was such an a-hole to his fellow party members prior to his godhood. |
| #268JudgeDookieNov 15, 2009 21:52:43 |
Which was a monumental move--one that left the Realms in utter chaos as a consequence. And lets not forget that he actually returned from the dead in a very unconventional manner. Both required a strong amount of plotting, scheming, and balls. Bane brought Hoar to heel... And the other two points my man states here. Got his ass handed to him by a Lesser God..... Circumstances at the time--otherwise, it would not have happened. |
| #269darth_k-travaNov 15, 2009 21:55:05 | Yeah. If they both hadn't been avatars, and on Torm's "home turf", it'd have been ugly the other direction.... |
| #270JudgeDookieNov 15, 2009 22:01:58 | Excuse? The other direction? |
| #271darth_k-travaNov 16, 2009 12:34:06 | "Other direction" as in Bane winning the fight instead of Torm |
| #272JudgeDookieNov 16, 2009 20:32:21 | If they were on Torm's "home turf" it would be he with the upper hand. |
| #273drizztsmanchildNov 16, 2009 22:20:58 | Dook: Haven't been to fond of this new update...makes it harder to post with my phone like I was able to....to bad they don't have a mobile site...lol.....but nothing much....how ya been.....rule of thumb ....always have a bottle stashed in case of theiving wenches.lol To all Cyric haters..Cyric made the Gods interesting....lol...because he continuously brought his sphere's to the Gods as well as the mortals......While the rest of the boring Pantheon were to concerned with themselves and how many worshippers they had Cyric was killing Gods left and right... |

| #277drizztsmanchildNov 17, 2009 0:22:05 | Lol...forgive my ignorance....it has been awhile since I read the trilogy..I know what happened at the end of Tantras..with both avatars being destroyed...but I don't seem to recall Bane being more than a Shadow essence in Waterdeep.....Did he come back? Well back on topic I think its safe to say that this book solved the debate on Jarlaxles alignment.. |

Nope he didnt come back, he stayed dead, until 3e. But there are some who whisper that Bane is still dead, and Iyachtu Xvim just decided to use his fathers name instead, because no one could pronounce Iyachtu right. |
| #27918DELTANov 17, 2009 4:04:57 | Jaralxe=Chaotic Stupid...If you don't believe he has something up his sleave, well then I got ocean front property in Evereska to sell ya. |

But, yeah, consensus is that he came back. And I am sure you are aware of that, you dope. |
| #283drizztsmanchildNov 17, 2009 22:33:46 | Dook: lol I know he is supposedly back now you toad licking turtle tapping tramp....just referring to the battle...which BTW neither avatar won...Midnight saved the day while Torm endangered the city.. 18Delta: Lol..if you're going to insult a person you should at least get the spelling of said name right! motha funk Torm. Seriously. The only good thing about Torm is that he creates opportunities for situations where both the protagonists and antagonists are good aligned. Mostly with servants of Torm as the antagonists, dying painfully. Speaking of gods. Mask. I miss Mask almost as much as I miss Shaundakul. Has there been anything on what happened to Shaundakul? Also, did Mask really let Shar absorb him to regain her full divinity? really? Sounds more like the kind of thing he'd pretend to do.
You're being too sentimental. The world would be better without them. Go ahead, kill them all. They deserve it. :P |
| #290sebialeJan 03, 2010 15:36:23 | @OP I had no issues with the book, or any of Salvatore's books really. It would be disappointing place to end the series, but I think Salvatore will bring out a few more at least. I at least want to see how Drizzt's new attitude will play out. |
