#1 paulstrait Mar 17, 2011 5:10:17	Basically, what I know (I don't even know if this is canon, its mostly stuff I found posted here and at candlekeep, though I've found a couple of canon mentions like in the 3e serpent kingdoms supplement): --the Ba'etith were a secret society that existed for 30,000 years --Sarrukh mages founded it --The Batrachi and Aearee further influenced and directed it --They wrote the Nether Scrolls, based on information that the Sarrukh gathered by studying all the ways of magic practiced by the various tribal savages they encountered throughout the realms... they collected the info into the Golden Skins of the World Serpent (which I gather had something to do with the gods they worshipped, since their pantheon was once united as one large serpent, but became a pantheon when it broke apart)        --The Netherese found the Nether Scrolls because the Ba'etith hid them strategically so that the Netherese would discover them -- one major goal is to promulgate the secrets of magic... though why?     --throughout history, there is some link to mystryl/mystra, and they perhaps serve a similar function as Magister and/or Mystra's chosen (and it is very possible that the Chosen and/or the Magisters have all been members of this secret society) Anyhow, I would love it if... a) someone could point me toward sourcebooks that talk about them b) help me brainstorm some 'fanon' about them and their activities (in a way that is consistent with what we do know about the Realms from canon material), particularly what they might be up to after the Spellplague, and what relationship they have to the Elves and elven magic, as well as the Sharrans and shadow magic
