#1 todesherr Jun 06, 2009 8:36:25	Clearly his clerics still receive spells? Can he just no longer manifest himself in the Realms, as in avatars, etc.? What is the deal? I mean, how is a 1000 year banishment even relevant if his church is still active and doing its thing?

Ultimatley, his "imprisonment" is useless. It's akin to allowing a mafioso to continue blatantly relaying orders relating to the organization to his underlings while in prison. Sure, he's confined to being in prison (probably a nice cushy one, but that's neither here nor there), but he's still operating his illegal organization.

I think Cyric needs to fear his worshippers the most... as a truely ambitious one can try to have Cyrics divintiy stolen without him able to intervene. It largely depends how confined he is in his prison; if he can still defend himself with his full divine potential he is likely to survive any such ploys. Otherwise, make way for a newly ascended trickster god.

Thank Bejebuz you are around to correct people when I am not. Though, this time I would have actually been here so.... Drizztmanthingy has it completely correct. In realm sense, the gods locked him up to stop him from meddling in their affairs--he did destroy most the multiverse because of it, after all. In real sense, you can't have a lot of god focused novels when a crazy antagonistic deity isn't running around like a mad man.

It is rare for most deities to directly manifest avatars, and most operate via dreams, messages, and servitors. I think Cyric needs to fear his worshippers the most... as a truely ambitious one can try to have Cyrics divintiy stolen without him able to intervene. -Imprisoned, he'd be no more "prone" to this than he would be not imprisoned. I've taken Cyric's imprisonment more as "in jail" than "in carbonite". In the latter situation, he'd be more vulnerable- but then again, Auppenser has existed for years in such a state, and he's gotten along just fine.
