What happened just before the spellplague

Sep 20, 2008 9:56:18 So I've been reading the 4th ED Forgotten Realms Campaign guide and am just wondering what was going on just before the spell plague.

Was there anything really leading up to it other then Mishras death, like a war or something to that point?

But seriously folks, you can get what little info exists in A Grand History of The Realms. No war other than the Netherese conquest of Sembia, the upheaval in Thay, and the continuation of the mulhorandi invasion of Unther. None of these have anything to do with Mystra's death or the spellplague.

Sep 20, 2008 15:04:53 No. Nothing "led up to it." Other than, of course, Cyrics long standing hatred of Mystra. In terms of current lore, there is absolutley nothing that lays a path for such a thing.

-Anyway, the closest thing there is/was to a "lead up" was the Ritual of Unwinding in the Cormyr/Shadowdale/Anauroch superadventures.
