Does anyone know how Eldath died? She used to be the goddess of quiet places, springs, pools stillness, peace, waterfalls, and druid groves. Since she isn't in the 4e FRCG, I assume she died, but I can't find a reference explaining how it happened.

I prefer to think of her as low-key rather than dead.
Eldath could very well be an arch-fey originally (a nymph), who after the spellplague became an exarch who is not powerful enough to keep a clergy. she migth reside in the feywild, and only occasionally appear on Toril, perhaps to aid good-aligned travelers who visit certain ponds, but not otherwise interfering much.
Remember rhat just because something isn't mentioned doesn't mean it doens't exist.

Yeah, yeah. None of our favorite gods died.

Nobody got booty stomped, french fried or butt pickled. Wizards is just like Burger King: Have it your way.

Should we then expect a visit from Kingons? :P

Eldath probably went to the Elemental Plane of Roman Baths...

Formerly known as San Francisco...

-According to Rich Baker, deities who do not appear in the FRCG, there's a reason they aren't listed in the FRCG. Eldath, for whatever reason, may have left Realmspace, taking her clergy with her. Perhaps she was killed, and her church toppled into disarray without it's leader. Ultimatley, she isn't around, but the book doesn't provide us with a reason why.

Remember rhat just because something isn't mentioned doesn't mean it doens't exist.

-Except on the matter of deities, where Rich Baker has specifically mentioned that if a deity isn't listed, there's a reason for them not being around any longer, and not just an editing oversight.

Until such a time when an in-house author needs said deity for something, in which case they will make a miraculous re-emergence.

There is NO canon... merely... suggestions...

On a related note, 'Eldath' would make a very cool name for a plumbing-fixture company.

And fitting.

-That's where "leaving" comes into play. Theoretically, she left, she took her church with her, the found some new place to live, she didn't like it there, and moves back to the old neighborhood. Deific resurrection works too, but that's just plain old boring, and played out in the setting.

The list of FR gods is mostly set, but that doesn't preclude beings that used to be perceived as dieties as being "something else" in the 4E cosmos. :P

...especially if they are not overly powerful, or can be easily described as an antagonist, or can be used as the inspiration for a character to start out on the paths to Great and Mighty Deeds.

Personally, I believe the reason that Eldath was retired was the "Ave Maria" problem referred to in one of the preview books: "How can we make Good monsters/characters/deities interesting?".

She's not dead in my homebrew!:

Eldath
Neutral Good(4E:'Good') Intermediate Goddess
Portfolios: Peace, pacifism, nonviolence, diplomacy, quiet places, stillness, freshwater(springs, pools, oases, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, fountains, wells...)

The Faerunian pantheon absorbed/killed the other human pantheons of Toril in the years immediately following the Spellplague's end, so she has a presence in Zakhara, where her church is very popular(hence her rise in power).

-According to Rich Baker, deities who do not appear in the FRCG, there's a reason they aren't listed in the FRCG.

But the reason need not be 'she's dead'. It could simply be 'she is not powerful enough to enpower a church'.

I liked Eldath, but I can see how a combat-oriented system has no real place for PCs that worship a deity that tells them not to fight...

You just had to ask...

Sweet, sweet Lady Shar that had to be the funniest thing I have seen in quite awhile.

So... Stigger when will you don a Kingon suit and give Dookie the Kingon Nipple Pinch?

-That would be a good place for her.

But the reason need not be 'she's dead'. It could simply be 'she is not powerful enough to enpower a church'.

-Which is why I specifically said that when deities are not listed, there are reasons for them not being included, which may include:

Eldath, for whatever reason, may have left Realmspace, taking her clergy with her. Perhaps she was killed, and her church toppled into disarray without it's leader. Ultimatley, she isn't around, but the book doesn't provide us with a reason why.

She is currently living in Kara-Tur, on the Guge-Shou border, inhabiting the Yellow Thunder Falls.

Where she is known as "the Goddess of the Golden Flow". :D

PRECISELY, Robin!

She's also added economics into her portfolio - she's a big fan of Reaganomics and it's 'trickle-down' effect. :D

To the OP. Don't assume she died. Like Gome and Brian said you can probably still have her in your take on the Realms but there is just no mention of her. Maybe there are so few of her followers left that her faith just does not get any "press" anymore. Just like any RPG concept if you like her and the DM allows it use her faith. Just have fun.

So Waukeen ate Eldath then?

No, Waukeen likes economic policies that actually work, as opposed to ones we've known haven't worked since Victoriana, yet which refuse to just curl up and die as they should...

And the Spa doubles as a Temple to Our Lady of the Golden Flow.

Its healing waters are said to relieve the pain and anguish of Purple Nerpals.
