I was wondering whatever happened to the poor dude after he learned of his lady's demise in the ghazneth wars of Cormyr? Did he appear in Daughter of Elminster? I was just wondering since it was long ago that I read that book.

And poor Tanalasta.....it looks like some stories in FR don't have a very happy ending.

Rowen became the 7th Ghezneth because he chose to try to rescure Tanasta (Who was really one of The Ghezneths illusions) instead of bringing important information about the scourges and the prophacy to Azoun IV.

When he learned Tanasta died he left never to be seen again.

-Presumably, he's still out there. Somewhere.

Last we heard he was on some random island in the middle of the Sea of Fallen Stars.

Looks like we'll never learn anything more about him. And good riddance, too; I hated that series.

Do you know what sourebook this info is from? I'd sure like to read more about it.

As for my campaign, Rowen currently roams the mountains between Cormyr and Sembia, having discovered the magical source of the crackling thunder storms that give the mountains (the Thunder Peaks) their name.

Problem is, the more magic he drinks, the weaker the wards become that keep the giants and their kin out of Faerûn and locked away on a whole other continent.

More epic fun to follow!

!!!

Tell me more about Iamiric please! (PM me if you want)

He's an Elder Evil (Similar to a Great Old One like Cthulhu) from the far plane. Long ago one of the creater races, forget which one, opened a portal to the Far Realm (A lovecraftian realm of madness) this portal is what brought the race of the aberritions into Faerun.

One such creature was Father Iamiric. Father Iamiric can't function in heat and cold so he's imprisoned in the Thunder Peaks of Faerun.

The thing with Elder Evils is they have what is called a Sign, which is drastic and apocalyptic ability that they have little to no control over.

If Father Iamiric is free he will blot out the son and destroy all life on Faerun

Bloody Lovecraftian crap infesting the Realms of late... but hey, if you're into it, then good on ya. ;)

-Well, luckily, Elder Evils is not Forgotten Realms canon, so...Though, I agree. Elder Evils isn't something to look at, though, if you're sick of Lovecraftian stuff. ;)

I did note that when I glanced over it... was one of those things that just didn't appeal. But hey, if someone can use it and find some value in it, then I guess WotC did its job. Not everything is going to appeal to everyone, which is fine by me.

-Oh, yeah, sure. Core books are designed to do exactly that: proliferate ideas. I don't think there is actually enough information about the 3e Core, pseudoGrayhawk setting to actually run a campaign "there", I don't think.

You could... but probably only coherently if you had the old 2e stuff to back you up. :D

I don't mind the Lovecraftian stuff, but I do think it got a little out-of-hand in late 3.5, and 4e might continue in that vein where everything with a tentacle is from the Far Realm. Damn you, Bruce Cordell, and your love of eldritch horrors! :coolcthul :88E: :P

-I don't believe anyone has come out to say how they support the heaping portions of wriggling tentacles that are being served.

I'm pretty confident in the belief that Mr. Cordell's previous works probably justify the opinion that he's rather fond of those heaping portions of writhing and wriggling tentacled crappiness. ;) :D

If it's a good read and I can use it opposite Rowen and my players, then I'm all for it.

I like Cordell's haircut, by the way.

Not only that, but he's mentioned said fondness publically (I recall reading that in one of the preview bits about aboleths, I think on this website).

Which is fine, because we all have our "things," and I think it has a place, but he just seems to let it carry him away from time to time.

-That's one of the things I admire most about Elaine Cunningham. Either last year, or two years ago, I was talking with her via posts at Candlekeep, and over the course of the conversation, she mentioned how there were a couple of influences that she really liked for Evermeet: Island of Elves, but didn't use them as heavily as she intended to, because many of those elements weren't very "Realmsian".

as opposed to someone doing what they want even if it isn't Realmsian, or worse yet, modifying the Realms

Kinda off topic but, was there ever any official stats created by WotC for Ghezneths?

They did stat out the Ghazneths for 2nd Editio D&D.

That's one issue of Dragon I still need to get my hands on.
