#1 tkxmuse Oct 08, 2009 7:04:08	After looking through Forgotten Realms Wiki (quite a good site, just wished more people worked on it!), I found a page about Sseth and Set. What is the history between them? The page says that during the Time of Troubles, Sseth was trapped by Set in the Abyss (funny that the abyss has become a jail for 2 gods during the Time of Troubles). I'm thinking about running an adventure where the PCs investigate the disappearance of many citizens (kidnapped by Yuan-ti) but I would like to know much about the snake people first. So enlighten me with some knowledge!
#2 The_Silversword Oct 08, 2009 8:31:50	Welcome to 4e Realms! Not a lot of lore so just make it up!! What sort of information do you require? Are you running 4e Realms or sticking with 3.5? Obviously lots of changes in 4e. Set and all the other Mulhorandi (Egyptian) Gods have been wiped off of Toril, possibly to Abeir, Toril's sister planet. So Set is no longer around. Well i suppose he could still be impersonationg Sseth, thats really up to you to decide. The old Serpent Kingdoms of Hlondeth on the Vilhon Reach were wiped out by the Spellplauge, But theres the new Kingdom of Najara around the Serpent Hills up by Baldur's Gate.
#3 Mirtek Oct 08, 2009 9:50:56	As far as 4e is concerned Sseth was lucky that Mulhorand got nuked during the spellplague and that this was the end for Set thus as a side effect freeing Sseth. As far as pre-4e is concerned the Sseth vs. Set thing is a major plot point in the House of Serpents Trilogy
#4 suin_bahhar_02 Oct 08, 2009 14:01:19	The gods of the Yuan-Ti are ancient. Are you familiar with te excellent 3.5 tome The Serpant Kingdoms? In it the mythology of the World Serpent and its scattering into multiple aspects including Sseth and Merschaulk is detailed more closely. It's a mix of norse and aztec myths flavored towards the realms.
#5 LordManshoon Oct 09, 2009 9:34:59	You could also look into the 4E novel, The Fanged Crown, by Jenna Helland. It focuses on Chult (and Tethyr, but that's not the point here), and describes the yuan-ti presence there in pretty good detail. It also features yuan-ti ruins, which are described very well. That's if you're into the novels, though.
#6 suin_bahhar_02 Oct 10, 2009 7:51:25	When I DMed I liked dropping a yuanti halfblood NPC of the Jennestas tribe on my party who travelled the roads of Thindol. I made a slithering wall running 3.5 scout build that got a lot of groans from the party that had plundered an ancient Yuan-Ti ruin. It had a speed of about 80ft per round and constantly set of hidden traps only he knew about. It made the party think twice about entering the Black Jungles, the home turf of that Yuan-Ti tribe. Oh and dont forget to throw some Huge Vipers at them, they are great foes to beat apon.
