Hi all

Im new in 4e so i need quite a lot of help

Does anyone knows what happened with Shaundakul and portal domain?

I want to make a divine tiefling (still dont know if avenger or cleric) with portal and air domains-
So far of what i know is that portal domain and Shaundakul are not mentioned anymore.

He is not know if he's dead or alive

Is any booksource with portal domain or Shaundakul?

You're right: you are going to need a lot of help!

Firstly, you seem to be conflating 3.5E and 4E rules together. They're very different games and, in particular, multiclassing works very differently in 4E compared to 4E.

Secondly, Shaundakul is, IIRC, officially dead in the 4E version of the Realms. Don't worry, most other deities are also dead. It's no big deal - just ask your DM if he can still be alive in "your" Realms. (BTW, I can't recall how or why he died.)

Thirdly, the only real source material for FR 4E is made up of two major books - Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide and Forgotten Realms Players Guide - and quite a few DDi articles. The other hardbook books - Neverwinter Campaign Setting, Halls of Undermountain and Menzoberranzan - probably aren't as useful for answering the general sort of questions you are asking.

Fourthly, domains work very differently in 4E and there are no Portal or Air domains. Check out the DDi Compendium for a full list. Domains were very much a late addition to 4E: they were part of Essentials in the first instance and then the Neverwinter Campaign Setting added a few more. I think DDi added maybe another one or two.

I would recommend working with your DM or another player who knows the 4E ruleset to get an overview of how 4E and FR 4E are different to 3.5E and earlier editions of FR so that you can better understand the changes. If possible, try and get a DDi subscription so you can try building a tiefling avenger and a tiefling cleric so you can see what your PC might look like.

BTW, a lot of people hate the 4E version of FR so be careful about where you post requests for help as you might be overwhelmed by the absolute negativity that is expressed on many boards.

I thought Shadakal was an Exarch.  But the gaming mechanics for multiclassing is maddening.  I play both now 3.5 and 4.0.

Theyve never said what ever happened to him, whether hes still around, an aspect of some other god, or dead, so Id say its up to the DM if hes still around.

As I recal the rule was if theres no mention of something being dead or changed in the 4e Realms guide, then we are to assume that its still around. So yeah, Im saying hes still around, watchin over Myth Drannor and what-not.

DivineTiefling, did you see that the new Lair Assault adventure - Temple of the Sky god - is set in a temple of Shaundakul?

Yup. The adventure says that Shaundakul did indeed go missing after the spellplague (i.e. likely dead, but not neccesarily so... especially since dead gods can almost always come back if they manage to get some believers).

Hey, they did the same thing with Waukeen for quite a while after the Time of Troubles.  This shouldn't be surprising really.

Youre right, the Time of Troubles thing was in 1989 and For Duty and Deity didnt come out until 1998, almost 10 years later! I hadnt realized it was so long a time.

It's a lair assault... they're not designed to introduce fluff. It did however mention that people still make pilgrimages to Shaundakul's temple to visit an oracle there.

Yet more proof that my assertation, that you're extraordinarily silly in the nog-nog, is correct.
