what if the 5e DMG contains some setting information?

this is a wierd idea, but what if we get the skinny on the Sundering in the 5e DMG?

We really don't know what will be put in the DMG, but campaign setting information as well as the hacker's guide isn't too much far out.  If they aren't talking about a new FRCS, then probably the DMG will contain much more information on the Sundering.

It's a hope.

As much as I cannot wait for more info on the Sundering, I will be shocked if the DMG has anything more than basic references to FR, used as examples more than anything else (Realms deities under each domain, perhaps a couple big-name Realms NPCs to use as examples for new DMs as to what roles NPCs can play, etc).

That clinches it.

I'm running an Eberron game online now, but being left hanging by the Sundering as to what actually happened has me forseeing a 5th edition campaign running with the old gray box.  It would be great to wait but after my campaign in Merry Old England is done, I'm running that old grey box campaign.  I can't really get any details.

How did Bha'al come back?*  Where did Myrkul return from?  Ao writing a new tablets of Fate?  What did go on?

* I played the Balder's Gate 2 games and most everytime I did play the godhood angle.  My character would take Bhaal's place and he'd normally be Lawful Good.

I would actually be pissed if DMG space were wasted on setting specific material. That kind of material belongs in setting sourcebooks, not the DMG.

I'm with you on playing Eberron instead. Though Eberron is my favorite setting, we just finished an Eberron campaign about  6 or 7 months ago. I was getting excited about a refreshed Realms. I tried to drive a bit of interest and discussion here, starting a few threads that mostly amounted to some good back and forth with LordManshoon. ;)

No FRCS, though? No thanks. I'll wait until we get one. We already started an Eberron game instead of trying the Tyranny of Dragons adventures, and will play our second session this coming weekend.

Hopefully, we will eventually see a FRCS. The rpg staff seems so small, now, that I suspect it will be a while. There are honestly a few things I'd like to have first, anyway. Not many, but a few.

yeah I know I'll be running in the classic realms. WOTC really should have been working on a FRCS already.

I think it was Brian James(?) who tweeted that Mearls said no FRCS until 2016 at the earliest.  At least the rumor is that Ed Greenwood will be the one who writes it...

Q: How did Bha'al come back? A: He got better. It happens. Q: Where did Myrkul return from? A: Vacation. Q:  Ao writing a new tablets of Fate?   A: More like an erratta/FAQ.... Q:What did go on? A: It's classified. But to sum it up; some Player Characters were involved. They did something. Monsters were slain/looted. D20s were rolled & much Mt. Dew was drunk. Of course you could just play your own game & determine these answers for yourself.....
