Hi Guys,

what name(s) do the lands east from "the unapproachable east" have: the asian flavoured lands east from Thay and Rashemen?

I know that the Tuigan hordes came from those lands, but I'm more interested in the Japanese/Chinese flavoured land even more east form that. I know the 'oriental adventures' book, but is there another source?

THanks !

Those would be the lands of Kara-Tur and there was a boxed set for it. Also southeast of Thay and that area you have the Arabian Nights themed area that also had it's own sourcebook.

About all we know for Kara-Tur in 4e is that the dragon imprisoned in the Dragon Wall has been freed.

There's quite a bit of real estate past the Unapproachable East, a whole continent's worth. Just going by the Asian-styled places, you've got the Hordelands just past Thay (on the map as the Endless Wastes), then you get to Kara-Tur.

Shou Lung and Tu Lung are the two China-flavoured realms, and off the coast there are the islands of Wa and Kozakura, both Japan-styled. These are the primary lands of the KT setting.

Nearby to Wa and Kozakura is Koryo, a version of Korea. Up in the Northern Wastes beyond Shou Lung and Koryo are some lands of tribes similar to those of Siberia.

Down south in the Yehimal (Himalayas) you have Tabot (Tibet), Ra-Khati and Petan, similar to Himalayan states like Nepal and Bhutan.

And in the south east there are the Jungle Lands of Malatra, where you have Laothan, Purang and Kuong. Off the coast, there are the islands of Bawa and Bertan and others. These are similar to the lands of SE Asia.

India is represented way-back on the Faerunian continent, with Durpar, Estagund, Var and the Utter East, and in some jungle lands south of the Yehimals.

The Kara-Tur setting is explored in the Oriental Adventures book in 1st edition, and the Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms box set in 2nd edition, where it was attached to the Forgotten Realms. There's also a bunch of adventures, OA1 to OA8, for the setting.

You can get some of those adventures here:

This Map shows the political entities that lie beyond the Hordelands.

You can also view the 'Hordelands' (Taan) on this map.

Kara-tur was east of the Hordelands and Zakhara (Al-Qadim) was to the south of the Hordelands if my memory serves me well.

For a somewhta better visual reference, you can refer to this -

Continental map

Its not big enough to make out any detail, but you can at least get an idea of where everything is.
