#1 bille Sep 23, 2014 0:47:42	To help add context to my new 5th ed campaign I am trying to get a feel for what the Sundering is and what the post-Sundering Realms looks like by reading the latest series of novels - halfway through the Companions - but would prefer not to have to read all six. Are there any in particular that give a strong overview of what happens and what the world now looks like? And can they be read in isolation?  Thanks in advance Bill

#3 Ravenspur Oct 10, 2014 19:18:08	The Sundering books were pretty much nothing events with the exception of The Herald, it was just setting up stories for 5E including the return of R.A. Salvatores Companions of the Hall (talk about flogging a dead horse Bob). I loved the Companions and Drizzt way back with the first trilogy but instead of developing new characters or the newer introduced ones he's just reincarnated the originals (except for immortal Drizzt) and away we go again. Not that I am bagging his books I personally love the actions scenes and how he has open slather to totally smash apart big regions of the Realms such the Silver Marches.   I would personally recommend reading some of the earlier novels to get a feel of what the realms were (Moonshae, Spellfire and Azure Bonds), then move onto Time of Troubles to get a feel for the Realmsian Pantheon then the superb Erevis Cale series.
