I thought I'd put together a list of places that do (and don't) survive the Spellplague. If someone has already done this let me know. Also add those that I don't have

Places that do survive
* Anauroch
* Cormyr
* Dalelands
*The Dragon Coast
* Evereska
* High Forest
* Luruar (previously known as the Silver Marches)
* Moonshae Isles
*The Moonsea
* Myth Drannor
* Proskur
* Sea of Fallen Stars
* Sembia
* Spellgard (a.k.a Saharelgard)
* Stonelands
* Stormhorns
* Sword Coast
* Tunlands

Places that don't survive
* Sespech
* Chondath
* Western Chessenta
* Muhorand
* Maztica
* Halruaa

Been catching up on my realms lore. Can Someone point me to articles on the fate of Zhentarim, Waterdeep and Zhentil Keep?

The initial article on Countdown to the Realms talks about Wtaerdeep. I haven't read the new book, Swordmage, yet but it involves the Moonsea and may discuss the Zhents

Countdown to the Realms
Year of the Ageless One
by Rich Baker

Had the waterdeep info. Skipped it when I looking for Cormyr info.
Thanks for the heads up.

By the Year of Blue Fire, Bane is positioning himself for the new Realms. As the Zhentarim have become his--assuming Cyricist's have been expelled, as it seemed to be--I imagine the Zhentarim to hold the same, if not a more dominant hold in the Realms.

Why I think the zhentarim are shrinking.

With the rise of the Netherese I see them weakening. Plus the Elves in Cormanthor. Cormyr is more powerful than ever before. All kinds of other groups poping up as competition. They might be just gathering strength.
But I see their role as the uber evil network shrinking.

Very good point. As is, I don't see the Zhents up and disappearing.

No the zhents are still around. Found a list of August/September RPGA Living Forgotten Realms adventures.

Zhentil Keep (Special)

CORE-S1 Shades of the Zhentarim
Zhentil Keep is a city with a storied history, even if most of the tale is not fit for innocent ears. A mission to find the wayward son of a wealthy merchant leads deep into the secrets, deceptions, and brutal power on which the dreaded Zhentarim built their ominous keep. A Living Forgotten Realms two-round special adventure set in Zhentil Keep for characters levels 1-4.

-Rich Baker has confirmed that they will still be around, albeit in a slightly differet form.

With the RPGA Living Forgotten Realms adventure titled "Shades of the Zhentarim", I think we have a pretty good guess as to how their form has changed in 4e

-I don't take that as literal. I interpret that not as saying that the Shades are working for/with the Zhents. Instead, the Zhents are perhaps only a shade of their former selves.

Agreed. The Shadowvar give lip service to Shar, not Bane.

If there do end up being Shades in the Zhents, then it is due to some ritual they may have performed, much like Cale did. True Shadowvar are devoted to their empire and nothing else.

At least, for now.

I 'think', going by what little was in that "headless Zhent" thing, that the Zhents will become a power similar to Germany in the 1700's - A miltant nation that rents its troops out to others - like the German Hessians.

As long as they don't wear those silly 'tall hats'.

Anyhow, thats conjecture, but they do seem to be getting a Mercenary touch to them.

For information on the world post-1375 DR, refer to my FAQ over at CK.

I haven't updated it in awhile, but that is because we haven't received a Realmslore article in awhile. Also note I include a link to the Enworld threads that are very comprehensive about the 4e rules, if that interests you as well.

Whether or not you are sick of it does not change the fact that everyone is discussing it.

And as Rhee stated, I believe LK was making a sarcastic comment about that very fact

The fact is this is about the spellplague which lends itself to discuss the virtues of 4E realms. Its not like this thread is about paladin orders in the Sword Coast or Turmish exports

My apologies if LK was being sarcastic and didn't intend to set off yet another "Is 4e FR, FR?" discussion.

You have to ask him if he was just being sarcastic. It would be my assumption but ya never know

I don't think it sucks canal water... I doubt there's much that's truly that bad. Toilet water perhaps, but not canal water...

As to the whole hating the 4e haters... the whole thread is pretty much based on idle speculation, and will be until August for the most part, barring revelations in DDi/Dragon, and its a given that such speculation is going to attract the hater element. Its the nature of the beast, so deal and either put up with it, or move on. Sorry if you don't like it, but freedom of speech and all that...
#57

JohnLynch

Jun 04, 2008 2:11:29
but freedom of speech and all that...

You don't have freedom of speech at the WotC forum. Try to swear and you'll quickly realise this.

Besides if they can complain about 4e in every thread, then I get to complain about them in certain threads. Unless a WizO comes along, but none have yet.
#58

Stigger

Jun 04, 2008 2:26:12
Strange that you would confuse polite public discourse with freedom to express opinions and points of view...

At any rate, I see no reason for you not to complain if you so choose, so long as you keep it within the CoC, but don't presume to tell others to shut up and not voice their opinions. That doesn't really contribute to a meaningful debate, and only adds fuel to the fire, so to speak, so in a lot of respects by complaining about them, you're contributing to keeping them going. Stop arguing with them, put them on ignore, report them, whatever, but don't give them more ammunition if you truly want them to stop... if you can see the logic there.

Bad taste, inconsistent logic, dumbed down lore, and Chris Perkins in a pirate hat, standing on Ed Greenwood's literary corpse,yanking his crank and shouting "I killed Mystra! I'm a man now!" while he stares out at the world through his fake eyepatch.
