| #1davesaundersNov 11, 2008 10:42:28 | I sent him a private message asking him about something in my campaign and about getting something permanently attached to the top of the forum and he hasnt responded. In the past when I have he was always very prompt. Anyone know whats up? The thing about getting something permanently attached to the top of the forum can probably wait but the thing about my campaign I could use the help sooner than later. |
| #2merrikcaleNov 11, 2008 11:13:40 | Rich Baker and Bruce Cordell replaced him with someone from Returned Abeir the finks!!!! |
| #3kerym_ammathNov 11, 2008 11:54:15 | Well seeing as how Mystra is dead Lord Karsus has decided to try his experiment again since this time there is no one to stop him...bwahahahaha! |
| #4sfdragonNov 11, 2008 11:59:38 | He is likely to take offense to that...... |
| #5keverasNov 11, 2008 12:43:47 | Well, he wanted to establish himself as new god of magic in the Realms (i.e. admin, and here on these boards), but since Shar (i.e. a WizO or any other guy who has more rights than he has) prevents any being (i.e. user) from doing so, he probably got some goth-problems (i.e. legal action) :D |
| #6StiggerNov 11, 2008 13:45:47 | The clone we're doing of him isn't finished, and the mind-probe hasn't yet revealed his password, so give us a few days and he'll be back, better than ever and far more controllable... with only 30% the calories and no bad transfats. :evillaugh :D |
| #7markustay63Nov 11, 2008 14:57:08 | But if he casts his spell again it will only fizzle - it was designed to take control of the Weave away from Mystra, so NO Weave = Useless Spell. As for the other stuff, I've seen him posting over at CK for the past few days, so I think he's still around. Maybe he got banned too... that's where we all end up sooner or later. :P |
| #818DELTANov 11, 2008 16:47:56 | Maybe he got banned too... thats where we all end up sooner or later. :P -Hey I resemble that remark! ;) 18DELTA (Chosen of Cyric.) :P |
| #9eldritch_lordNov 11, 2008 19:39:46 | But if he casts his spell again it will only fizzle - it was designed to take control of the Weave away from Mystra, so NO Weave = Useless Spell. Why did you think he's been gone for a while? He has to re-research the spell so it works again! You think spells like that just up and write themselves? (Then again, just move your mouse over the picture next to his name and you have Karsus's Avatar right there....) |
| #10merrikcaleNov 11, 2008 20:53:38 | hmmmm...........maybe Lord Karsus is, in fact, Barack Obama. You notice you never see the two of them in the same room at the same time.......... |
| #11StiggerNov 11, 2008 23:58:30 | I've never seen him in the same room as the Pope either... or Ronald Reagan for that matter, or even me. Wonder if I'm secretly LK... or Barack Obama for that matter, since I've never been in the same room with him either. ![]() |
| #12keverasNov 12, 2008 4:06:09 | By far the best thread on these boards here :D Anyway, I think the casting of Karsus' Avatar hasn't brought him enough disgrace, for his taste, so this time he tries something even greater, i.e. casting a 13th lvl spell. |
| #13davesaundersNov 12, 2008 11:43:01 | I guess noone knows where he is then. Does anyone know his emial address or something because I really could use an answer to this question that I asked him. |
| #14merrikcaleNov 12, 2008 14:51:51 | I guess noone knows where he is then. Does anyone know his emial address or something because I really could use an answer to this question that I asked him. I do not. But I would suppose that if he isn't answering here email would go nowhere as well. I would hazard a guess his PMs go to his email |
| #15ody_saraph_of_karsusNov 12, 2008 15:29:45 | I guess noone knows where he is then. Does anyone know his emial address or something because I really could use an answer to this question that I asked him. PM sent. He's pulling a GothicDan/Karsus the Mad for those of you that can catch my drift |
| #16StiggerNov 12, 2008 15:56:31 | I prefer my cloning version of events... :P Strange to read that though, but I would think he has his reasons for it. |
| #17markustay63Nov 12, 2008 16:12:23 | Anyway, I think the casting of Karsus' Avatar hasn't brought him enough disgrace, for his taste, so this time he tries something even greater, i.e. casting a 13th lvl spell. He is trying to rest the power of the Crystal Sphere away from Ao himself? ![]() I wish him luck... Ao's been doing a lousy job the last hundred years or so. ![]() |
| #1818DELTANov 12, 2008 17:08:02 | PM sent. -That is unfortunate. ![]() 18DELTA (The Chosen of Cyric.) ![]() |
| #19markustay63Nov 12, 2008 18:00:21 | No.. it's not. You yourself have recently experienced how 'liberating' being free of this site can be. By staying away, one learns to appreciate the Realms that much more. If he is still making himself available over at CK, then so much the better. If he is completely gone for good, then NO, that would be a terrible thing for the community. Funny... no one even noticed when I was gone for awhile... ![]() |
| #20old_sageNov 12, 2008 19:04:13 | Join the club! :P |
| #21markustay63Nov 12, 2008 19:22:57 | ![]() Anyhow, he just responded to a post a few minutes ago over there, so if you want to talk to him, just do so through CK PMs. Everyone knows thats where "the elite meet'. :P |
| #2218DELTANov 12, 2008 21:14:42 | No.. it's not. -Yes getting banned was a good thing for me. Thats why I have bowed out of this "pointless edition war". I support the Realms regardless the edition. Sure there are things I dislike about the 4E Version, yet I also dislike some parts of the 1E, 2E, and 3E versions. If people want to talk Realmslore or about having a fun game set in the Realms regardless the edition then lets talk. I am currently running a 3E Realms game, plan on running a couple of more before I run a 4E Realms game. ![]() -What I meant about LK "leaving" was I know what happened to KtM for the most part, I remember Dan leaving. I think its unfortunate "if" he did leave. ![]() -Quit being melodramatic Markus. :P 18DELTA (The Chosen of Cyric that supports the Realms) ![]() |
| #23merrikcaleNov 12, 2008 21:15:21 | Join the club! :P I noticed Old Sage. In fact, I did mention it somewhere, I'm pretty sure |
| #24markustay63Nov 12, 2008 21:35:00 | I think I found him!![]() And there's me, and Delta, and Old Sage... and wait... Yes! Wooly Rupert is seen running up someone's pant leg! :D |
| #25merrikcaleNov 12, 2008 21:46:27 | are you the clown in the pink shirt? |
| #26markustay63Nov 12, 2008 21:51:12 | I thought that was you! :D P.S. _ i'm the fat guy buying cotton candy. :P |
| #27TheriseNov 12, 2008 22:02:45 | I'm the blond girl in a mini, holding the yellow balloon. Next to me is mon petit doudou, mon cher... Dookiekins! :D :D :D And you can tell it's me because I have cute red shoes. |

| #29StiggerNov 13, 2008 0:48:50 | Doubtful I'm in there... far too social a setting to catch me in it. Can't stand crowds... unless of course there's black leather and deafening music involved, with a pit somewhere nearby. |
| #30old_sageNov 13, 2008 0:49:41 | I think I found him! *There* I am. ::The Sage points to the man in the purple shirt, reading the book at the top of the image.:: |

| #33davesaundersNov 13, 2008 17:05:15 | Funny... no one even noticed when I was gone for awhile... I am sorry and did not mean this as an insult for everyone else. I dont know if I was around when you left or when anybody else left. I know karsus a little bit because hes helped me with a few things here and I have talked to him on IM a few times getting his help there. I am sure that with some time if I get to know everyone since I am a newbie and I have alot of questions I will wonder where you go if you leace. |

| #36ody_saraph_of_karsusNov 13, 2008 20:02:58 | I'm the guy with the blonde in the mini holding the yellow ballon. you can tell is me cuz is the Rico Suave in the pic ;) I'm sure Stigg's the guy in the pogo stick and LK told me he was going to hang in CK even tho he didn't like it there as much. I told him that I have to stay here to show the "young bloods" (as in you dave)the ropes just as he did with me. And I did miss you, MT you BIG lug! I asked LK where you went. and I did give you a Welcome Back. |
| #37markustay63Nov 13, 2008 20:14:37 | Well, that means you and Therise are hookin' up. :D Anyhow, I doubt he wants his business known, but he is still working on Realmslore, so thats a good thing. Sometimes it's good to take a 'sabbatical' from this asylum. ;) |
| #38ody_saraph_of_karsusNov 13, 2008 20:18:49 | I agree. I'm just telling the basis of the whole thing. I sorta debated in my head to do that last post, but alotof people miss him (I do) and is only fair I think. I'll admit that I find Therise... interesting ![]() |

| #104lord_karsusNov 26, 2008 13:00:46 | -Well, the only way to remedy that is by posting more, starting more threads, asking more questions, and so on. I chuckle to myself when people (on this board, and in general) complain about the lack of X- be it activity, drama, whatever- but do nothing to "help" the fact. |
| #105StiggerNov 26, 2008 14:20:15 | Well yeah, but if they help the drama level along, they're likely to get banned, so... a little self-defeating. And despite my best efforts, reasonable discourse is still a long way off on some topics... :D |
| #106lord_karsusNov 26, 2008 16:22:41 | -I just was using 'drama' as an example, but...Point is, if you want things to be more X (active, happy, yellow, panda bear), take things into your own hands. If you are complaining about X, do (or don't do) X, and be the person to enact change. |
| #107StiggerNov 26, 2008 16:26:16 | Maybe I could skew that and interpret it as LK advocating 'drama' and bickering among the Realms forumites... :evillaugh :D |
| #108lord_karsusNov 26, 2008 16:30:08 | -Skew things however you want. It's not as if people haven't taken me saying things and twisted them around to suit the issue du jour. -The long and the short of it, I already said, so... |

| #111lord_karsusNov 26, 2008 22:17:47 | -You don't want things to be happy? Why is that? -Isn't it more enjoyable to visit a message board in which people are (more or less) getting along, rather than visiting a message board in which people have to look over their proverbial shoulders before posting, knowing anything they say will be, as Stigger was saying, twisted out of context, and used to attack you, or general lies will be made up, and used to attack you, and other kinds of behaviors like that? I know I prefer the first to the second. That's 50% of the reason why I skipped posting here for most of this month. -Concerning forum traffic, compliance doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand with activity. In other words, everyone doesn't have to be assimilated into the BORG in order for forum traffic to go up. Most conversations that are worth any salt that go on here stem exactly from two opposing views. Take one example: A discussion I was having with MT, concerning ancient Ilythiir. Reading the same exact book, the same exact page, the same exact paragraph, I saw one thing (I was right, by the way...:incog and he saw something else. If I saw one thing, and he saw the same exact thing, there's about two pages of discussion that never happened.-I think that, like so many other aspects of life, people are a lot quicker to jump to the "extremist" side of things. For whatever reason, I am reminded of John McCain's concession speech, when the gathered crowd audibly booed and jeered multiple times when McCain mentioned President Elect Obama winning the election. I've never seen coverage of the losing nominee's concession speech before (I saw Kerry conceded in '04 while I was walking home from school, on a taxi, and before that, I was too young to care enough about politics to tune into the loser's concession speech). It spoke to me, though, and reminded me that people are indeed jumping to metaphorical sides, instead of milling around in the middle. -Anyway, the point of that whole long schpiel is that: (A) Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you don't have to participate anymore. By and large, I, like you, don't like most of what I've seen, concerning the "new" Forgotten Realms. When conversations come up, that doesn't preclude me from participating. If they're not about the "new" Forgotten Realms, super, I have even more to contribute. If they are, well, I'll see what I can do. (B) Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you should be spiteful about it. I'm not saying you are, but it's very easy to get into that type of mentality, where, since I can't benefit, no one should. Those people, we call trolls, they came in both pro- and anti- forms, and no one likes them. (C) At the end of the day, things are (or really should be) business as usual. As has been mentioned in various places, contrary to popular belief, Rich Baker is not going to round up the WotC goons and take your books away from you, replacing them with the new ones, and some morphine to keep you quiet. You still have your books, and the same problems/strengths that existed beforehand still exist. We still don't know what Lantan was like. We still don't know what happened to Rowan, the last Ghazneth. There's still plenty of things out there that need to be done (A sourcebook on Elves, a sourcebook concerning Kara-Tur, a sourcebook concerning Cormyr, and various other things). Instead of withdrawing from the community, treat everything as business as normal. The phrase "Not in my Realms" comes to mind. Ignore things you don't like. That's what I do. I don't like it, I ignore it. I still try to be relatively in the know, but I disregard such things from any projects I am working on (for the most part). Keeping that philosophy in mind, nothing has changed. None of those unsolved questions have been answered, and all of those projects that needed doing still need doing. So, no reason to not ask, and do. -And that, is a mouthful. (And, keep in mind, I am not singling you out, Merrik, or even necessarily talking about you, per se, as much as I am using the general form of 'you', and talking about nobody in particular.) |

My only hope for the Realms is the unhappiness with the current Realms (A) Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you don't have to participate anymore. If they're not about the "new" Forgotten Realms, super, I have even more to contribute. If they are, well, I'll see what I can do. I have no interest in talking about what they now call the Realms. Its awful and is not compelling at all. I will participate in discussions about the old Realms for sure. But certainly, my involvement here will not be the same. (B) Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that you should be spiteful about it. I'm not saying you are, but it's very easy to get into that type of mentality, where, since I can't benefit, no one should. Those people, we call trolls, they came in both pro- and anti- forms, and no one likes them. True enough. I am often spiteful in these discussions. It is sometimes hard not to be frankly. But as I said before, I feel the only chance (however slim it is) for the Realms at this point, is the utter failure of the 4e Realms (C) At the end of the day, things are (or really should be) business as usual. As has been mentioned in various places, contrary to popular belief, Rich Baker is not going to round up the WotC goons and take your books away from you, replacing them with the new ones, and some morphine to keep you quiet. Keeping that philosophy in mind, nothing has changed. None of those unsolved questions have been answered, and all of those projects that needed doing still need doing. So, no reason to not ask, and do. That is easy and difficult at the same time. Sure, its easy to just toss aside the 4th edition changes and pretend like they never happened. And I am sure many will. But to me, the real loss is the lack of anything new when you do that. I truly enjoyed getting that next sourcebook and digging into it. I enjoyed the discussions here about all the new lore that we got positive or negative. I enjoyed being a part of that. Thats now gone. Thats the real shame. Even more than the time leap. Even more than Mystra's removal or the pointless other changes that were made. (And, keep in mind, I am not singling you out, Merrik, or even necessarily talking about you, per se, as much as I am using the general form of 'you', and talking about nobody in particular.) I do not mind being singled out here. |
