If I remember correctly, it's in the Luruar/Silver Marches area. There's a wonderful map in the Underdark supplement from last edition, but I'd have to go look it out. Still pretty sure it's in that general area though.

Even do Silverymoon wouldn't stand for it, logic dictated (specially cause it is Drow who don't fear anyone) that they would raid something closest to them which like I said, they rarely did.
Traders and warbands of the City of Spiders travelled to Zhentil Keep, Calimshan and whatnot, but rarely to any surface settlement nearby, it seems. That said, Underdark tunnels can go for miles till they reach the surface ...
I know it is there, but logic never found me as most of the Menzoberranzan Drow when they went to the surface, raided around Myth Draenor. Mostly around elven encampents, and problem is that Silverymoon wouldn't stand for that if Drow would try that in their vicinity (only one time did Menzoberranzan try to attack in this area) and that was to go after Drizzt in attempt to capture Mithril Hall. And united armies of "light" defeated them (Siege of Darkness book by R. A. Salavatore to those that don't know).

-Concerning other nations "standing for it"...Politics. The people in Silverymoon, in Waterdeep, in Neverwinter, in Luskan, other cities in the region, they have they own concerns. Sure, Silverymoon might be the "shining city on the hill", in terms of it being considered a good place, and all of that, but if the Drow aren't directly raiding them, and being pains in their asses, policy would dictate that they generally stick their noses in their own business, and not in other peoples'/places'. You can see that "in action" in some of the later R.A. Salvatore novels, where Silverymoon doesn't directly come to the aid of Mithral Hall because of internal and external politics.

I'd also add that actually sending troops into the death-trap that is the Underdark takes some serious cajones, and the losses in troops and resources are sure to be astronomical (though an alliance between the surrounding surface cities mighty reduce these losses). If Silverymoon still had Alustriel and/or Waterdeep still had its legion of master mages, it might be more viable, but still...

Portals exist all over the place and are not solely used by the big Houses. As it looks, drow politics do not involve large scale surface raiding or attacking large surface settlements. If a portal is conveniently close to a settlement, the drow do not care where it opens to the surface. It might well be that other drow cities use portals to surface regions far closer to Menzoberranzan that the City of Spiders itself. In essence, we don't know.
BTW, while there are reports of Menzoberranyr going to Myth Drannor, the bane of the Dalelands and Cormanthyr was Maerimydra first and foremost.
