Wouldn't the time dead thing kinda preclude it even being remotely possible to do for mortal priests... doubtful even a wish spell would do much good there, given that it would pretty much follow the same rules as a True Resurrection sort of spell...
I'm of a similar mind to the others who have posted here. I think Alaundo should stay in his grave, lest a (probably gimmicky) return cost him some of his appeal as a famous NPC whose legacy after death has drawn the attention of so many Realmsfolk. That being said, I wouldn't mind a new NPC being introduced who intends to carry on Alaundo's work, whether or not it's a feasible goal. Perhaps some diviner claims to be aided by Alaundo's spirit, or a young man or woman attracts attention for his/her foresight and rumors arise that he or she is the reincarnation of Alaundo. Keeping things mysterious and uncertain would be the ideal path, to me.
maybe another person ascending to his level of knowledge (as mentioned earlier)
or perhaps a secret order (or single person) that was taught personally by him.

Seems like a waste and a shame for all of those souls to have been destroyed, probably millions of petitioners of Mystra, Savras, and Azuth all utterly destroyed, from the millenia that they were worshipped, gone forever. But I think that's what happened when Dweomerheart blew up.
Didn't Alaundo worship Savras? I can't remember. But if he did, his soul would have probably been in Dweomerheart when it was destroyed - so his soul (like the others there at the time) would have been destroyed too, right?

It's funny you should mention this, because months ago Iluvrien and I had a discussion about the fate of the souls who were in Dweomerheart at the time of Mystra's murder. Although I, like you, initially thought the souls would have been wiped out, a response by Rich Baker was found regarding the matter, which stated that the souls on Dweomerheart (at least most of them) actually survived, and that it was likely they would have gone to other planes, such as Kelemvor's or Selune's, with Dweomerheart in ruins. So, despite what may seem like a guaranteed annihilation of souls, the planar explosion actually didn't decimate the dead faithful of Mystra and her allies.

How strange. I always thought that an outer plane was shaped (to some degree) by the souls that the god(s) brought there to be with them. This would suggest that souls are nearly indestructible, which is contrary to all the spirit/soul-related spells, items and such that can damage or utterly destroy souls. Sounds maybe like the designers are being really inconsistent (not that I'm shocked).
The way i see it, the souls are bound to the plane, so if the plane is destroyed, the souls are set free.
This is more or less the right of it, given Rich's response. At least, it's one strong possibility.
