| #1nopityforacowardMay 18, 2008 13:09:07 | One of you had told me when I posted a topic way back, that Zak could beat down Artemis and Drizzt's ass no problem, and I don't know too much about your nerdy DnD stats, but it was somewhere along the line of 10 or so levels above. The statment from the novel starless night, should be sufficent enough to prove this wrong: And Berg'inyon knew too, why his brother wanted the first try at Drizzt. Drizzt had been trained by Zaknafein, Dantrag's principal rival, the one weapons master in Menzoberranzan whose fighting skills were more highly regarded than those of Dantrag. By all accounts, Drizzt had become at least Zaknafein's equal, and if Dantrag could defeat Drizzt, then he might at least come out from under zaknafein's considerable shadow." I demand answers now..which one of you ? |
| #2thinbladeMay 18, 2008 15:24:21 | Ok, first, insulting everyone isn't exactly a good way of getting answers. Second, that statement is coming from an unreliable narrator (either Dantrag or Berg'inyon), commenting on what another character believed. It's not from an omniscent narrator, and therefore is not, necessarily, true. Third, these "who would beat whom?" questions are pointless at best. The answer is, whoever's writing the story. But, since some people are foolish enough to delve into this, the rationale was probably that, back in the middle of 2e, Artemis and Drizzt were both of a level somewhere in the high teens (16 or 17, generally, though it fluctuated with each product that came out), whereas Zak was 24th (based on the Menzo boxed set), which should have let him win fairly easily. I've always thought the drive to give game stats to novel characters foolish, personally, but that's probably what that person was meaning when they said Zak could win. |
| #3merrikcaleMay 18, 2008 20:11:33 | It was probably Lord Karsus |

| #9straploknightMay 19, 2008 1:12:54 | Hmmmmm..... Dantrag was an 18th level fighter, can't remember Bergiyon's level, but the second best fighter in Menzo was Uthengentel Barrison Del Armgo (22nd level) and Zak was a 24th level fighter (and whipped Uthengentel's butt) - Unless they give Drizzt some level creep, sonny still ain't what his dad was. |
| #1018DELTAMay 19, 2008 8:28:06 | Hmmmmm..... He would mud hole stomp them then walk it dry!!!:P 18D:heehee |
| #11creyzi4zb12May 19, 2008 23:31:09 | Actually even a level 10 fighter could beat Drizzt, Entreri and Zak together...what matters most is who is writing the story. Take Avatar for example...duh, that Gwydion was a level 21 fighter and he got killed by a level 1 merchant...duh... |
| #12the_shamanMay 20, 2008 2:39:56 | Unless they give Drizzt some level creep, sonny still ain't what his dad was. Amen. He still needs a couple of centuries of practice to meet daddy, regardless of what others think. |
| #13DiffanMay 20, 2008 2:51:16 | Amen. He still needs a couple of centuries of practice to meet daddy, regardless of what others think. funny.....i remember Drizzt beating him on a bridge spanning a mote of acid with a boot to the face. Though maybe it was just Zak's spirit fighting for dominance over his body which gave Drizzt the opportuinity to win. |
| #14archmagus_ioulaumMay 20, 2008 22:00:00 | funny.....i remember Drizzt beating him on a bridge spanning a mote of acid with a boot to the face. Though maybe it was just Zak's spirit fighting for dominance over his body which gave Drizzt the opportuinity to win. Actually Zak won the fight against the mental and spiritual control of his one time matron. Drizzt would have lost the fight if it was only melee. I mean common Zak while blind ripped out the tongue of matron mother with a whip to stop her from casting spells! Now that is skill! |
| #15KhaeliethMay 21, 2008 10:09:42 | A goblin with a sharp rock can kill them all. Just wait till they're sleeping and smash their faces in. |
| #16red_wizardMay 21, 2008 12:57:16 | You know who else might have pwned wikit n00b killed DriZZTT? Extinction Beta, or Warning. Gee I wonder what could have happened to him. Maybe a new incarnation somewhere, somehow? ;) :P -RW |
| #17Khayal_the_EternalMay 21, 2008 15:21:36 | A goblin with a sharp rock can kill them all. Just wait till they're sleeping and smash their faces in. Drow don't sleep. Anyway, Jarlaxle says he defeated Zaknafein in single combat in Servant of the Shard. Which just further proves that the statistics they assign characters in the books don't mean anything. Jarlaxle defeating Zaknafein, even with his repertoire of nasty magical abilities, seems unlikely. I don't know if Jarlaxle even has 3E stats, but I would guess him to be about 17th or 18th level with some levels in Fighter & Swashbuckler. |
| #18KhaeliethMay 21, 2008 15:30:54 | Drow don't sleep. Drow cannot enter Reverie, per say, as they've lost their sense of community which other elves have, afaik. But wouldn't call it sleep, afk perhaps? Once again.... God damn newbie trolls. |
| #19rinonalyrna_fathomlinMay 21, 2008 18:19:46 | Once again.... He's not quite as new as you might think. |
| #20merrikcaleMay 21, 2008 21:24:34 | He's not quite as new as you might think. quite true, my dear, quite true |
| #21malykMay 21, 2008 23:14:31 | Drow don't sleep. Actually, some drow do sleep, some even going so far as to including bedrooms into there homes. Its mentioned in Daughter of the Drow, the mage that Liriel gets here books about the surface from sleeps in a bed and its mentioned that some drow cant get enough rest from reverie. |
| #22sfdragonMay 22, 2008 3:41:09 | the late battlewand dude who name and fate escape me at the moment( well okay i dont own the book where he actually gets offed so to speak, i have the other though and know who you are talking about). he sleeps, even Zak was sleeping if memory serves, right before he was killed yeah I think the drow fled to much of what was originally one, and the collective conscience puts their trance with nightmarish visions. |
| #23KhaeliethMay 22, 2008 8:13:11 | He's not quite as new as you might think. Doesn't mean he's not a newbie troll. Know some good trolls myself, and they're actually hilarious due to the reactions they provoke. |
| #24merrikcaleMay 22, 2008 9:34:18 | Doesn't mean he's not a newbie troll. He maybe be an old troll with a newbie name |
| #25KhaeliethMay 22, 2008 9:57:24 | Newbie doesn't mean new. Newbie means you don't really know what you're doing. Noob is more derogatory, but sounds better with newbie. Newbie is generally about nice people that don't know what they're doing, as they ask kindly for advice, whereas noobs don't bother reading a FAQ. |
| #26ody_saraph_of_karsusMay 22, 2008 9:59:09 | He maybe be an old troll with a newbie name Maybe? We all Know that he IS EBeta/Warning |
| #27rinonalyrna_fathomlinMay 22, 2008 10:40:28 | And I wouldn't call him a "newbie" because "newbies" are generally interested in learning and contributing. He just repeats the same stuff over and over again. |
| #28Khayal_the_EternalMay 22, 2008 11:41:59 | I do seem to remember Zaknafein sleeping in Homeland. But I distinctly remember Phaeraun from the War of the Spider Queen books feeling like he had advantage over Jeggred because he could take reverie and Jeggred needed actual sleep. And drow do have immunity to sleep spells, like elves do. There's definitely some inconsistency here, but this is sort of off topic. Maybe I'll start a thread about it. Probably not. |
| #29StiggerMay 22, 2008 16:00:11 | Though it would be cool if the screen did pull someone's eyes towards a post, forcing them to look... maybe with deafening words of a solemn tone that made some pronouncement, commanding them to read. I'd really quite enjoy watching that happen to someone... Though I'll point out you're not my god. I am my god. Yours too. :P Except when my wife's home, in which case, she is my goddess. But I'm still your god anyway, regardless of her being home or not. :P |

But "Pumpkin" has been reserved for affection delivered by females my whole life. To suddenly have another dude crown me Pumpkin just gives me the hibeebee-jeebeez. I wholly support the Googlebot in its efforts. It promised me free cake. Nice ending. Thank Bejebuz they didn't use it, else we'd never have that great new sitcom the Sarah Connor Chronical's. ROFL, sitcom? I love the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I do think they need more explosions, though. :D |
| #86JudgeDookieMay 23, 2008 13:35:16 | I wholly support the Googlebot in its efforts. It promised me free cake. It appears it's offered you an endless stream of free videos. Cheap payoff. ![]() ROFL, sitcom? What? It's not a comedy? I found it hilarious. Just don't do it for me. It's just not The Terminator. Why, oh, why did Cyberdyne Systems Series 800 Model 101 Version 2.4 have to run for office and get elected governor?! Why!!? ![]() |
| #87TheriseMay 23, 2008 13:44:25 | It appears it's offered you an endless stream of free videos. Cheap payoff. And what has this Bejebuz offered me? Bupkis, that's what. Just don't do it for me. It's just not The Terminator. It's not really meant to be. ![]() |
| #88JudgeDookieMay 23, 2008 14:01:37 | And what has this Bejebuz offered me? Bupkis, that's what. A new carrot? Come on. Would your petit doudou steer you wrong? ;) It's not really meant to be. Do I dare ask what it is supposed to be then? And if you respond in the likes of "one womans desperate struggle to save her son from tin man assassins, while struggling with menopause and a hemorrhoid," it won't cut it. ![]() |
| #89TheriseMay 23, 2008 14:11:21 | A new carrot? Probably. ;) Playful distraction is the job of any really good doudou. :D Do I dare ask what it is supposed to be then? Why, it's the tale of one woman's desperate struggle to save her son and all of humanity from soulless futuristic robots, while maintaining her own sense of sanity and moral character. Oh, and it's also laced with frequent gunfights, sexy girl fights, and huge explosions to enourage men to watch. :P And if you respond in the likes of "one womans desperate struggle to save her son from tin man assassins, while struggling with menopause and a hemorrhoid," it won't cut it. Hey, she's not -that- old. ![]() |
| #90JudgeDookieMay 23, 2008 14:34:42 | Probably. ;) Playful distraction is the job of any really good doudou. :D Well, when you give me the proper definition for what doudou you are referring to, perhaps I can respond appropriately. I've got three to four possible definitions and none of them add up...unless you are a very twisted little girl. ![]() You see, Google really doesn't know all. Why, it's the tale of one woman's desperate struggle to save her son and all of humanity from soulless futuristic robots, while maintaining her own sense of sanity and moral character. That sounds somehow familiar...? ![]() Oh, and it's also laced with frequent gunfights, sexy girl fights, and huge explosions to enourage men to watch. :P Now, that I can get into. But, as you said, there needs to be more explosions. And cat fights are only good when the chicks are ripping off each others clothes. Unless the cast goes on Jerry Springer together, then there is no hope for that. ![]() Hey, she's not -that- old. Well, the character is. Close enough. Perhaps mentalpause would be a more appropriate word to use...or is that a word? Hmm...let me check my Tome of All Useable Compounds and I'll get back to you.... ![]() |
| #91TheriseMay 23, 2008 14:54:34 | Well, when you give me the proper definition for what doudou you are referring to, perhaps I can respond appropriately. I've got three to four possible definitions and none of them add up...unless you are a very twisted little girl. Oh dear, mon petit doudou does not know of GoogleTranslate? ;) French.... English: mon.......my petit.......little doudou.....(favorite) toy :D You see, Google really doesn't know all. Eh, you just didn't ask it the right question. ;) Now, that I can get into. But, as you said, there needs to be more explosions. And cat fights are only good when the chicks are ripping off each others clothes. Unless the cast goes on Jerry Springer together, then there is no hope for that. Really? I thought all girlfights were supposed to be hawt. In any case, it -is- primetime tv. Can't have too much showing, or the network censors get uppity. Well, the character is. Close enough. Perhaps mentalpause would be a more appropriate word to use...or is that a word? Hmm...let me check my Tome of All Useable Compounds and I'll get back to you.... No no, she's just dark and sort of fatalistic. But I like that about her. ;) |
| #9218DELTAMay 23, 2008 15:03:26 | I'm a little annoyed that you did that, actually. It pushed more interesting and useful threads back to the 2nd page. -Sorry Rino. I kinda did that on purpose just to irritate people by moving threads to page two. :evillaugh But I promise to not do that for a week ok.(Crosses fingers behide back. ;) ) I will not perform any raise dead threads rituals, unless it is absolutely nessassary and important. :P18D:D |
| #93JudgeDookieMay 23, 2008 15:19:10 | Oh dear, mon petit doudou does not know of GoogleTranslate? ;) Holy ! Google can translate?!! ![]() BRB... ...yes. Googlebot can translate now. Unfortunately, if you just type in "doudou" all you get back is doo-doo. Which, puts me back to my original assumption. And the question of if you really know French or are just being absorbed into Googles networked brain. Damn these tough questions. ![]() But, at least being your toy has some promise, as oppossed to other possibilities. I guess that video you posted was very apt. :D Gonna go watch it again. Uh, excuse me.... Really? I thought all girlfights were supposed to be hawt. In any case, it -is- primetime tv. Can't have too much showing, or the network censors get uppity. Um...no. There are several factors that must be considered when determining if a cat fight is "hawt." Otherwise, its "nawt." Even the cat fights on Jerry Springer don't get all that hot. Seeing Shaniqua that three hundred pound hairdresser from Queens sumo wrestle Toothpick Trixie from the Traylor Pawk doesn't necessarily do it for me. Should it? ![]() No no, she's just dark and sort of fatalistic. But I like that about her. ;) She's just not Linda Hamilton. And Linda was hot in a cat fight. Now she just old and sheeyat. ![]() |
| #94rinonalyrna_fathomlinMay 23, 2008 15:24:36 | -Sorry Rino. It's fine. But yes, it's annoying to have good threads pushed to page 2, and replaced by threads that really really should stay "dead". |
| #95TheriseMay 23, 2008 15:37:05 | Holy As with all things, GoogleTranslate works better with context. Try typing in, "Tu es mon petit doudou" and see if you get something better. :P Which, puts me back to my original assumption. And the question of if you really know French or are just being absorbed into Googles networked brain. Damn these tough questions. Aw! I would not mislead mon doudou. No, I speak French. Although doudou may sound funny (btw, it's -hilarious- when a French-speaking child visits an English-speaking country and yells out loud "Je veux mon doudou!"... "I want my toy!"), it means something very much like "favorite toy". But it can also refer to a much-loved blanket, or a doll, or even a binky. Or a star wars figure. Or a term of endearment. It has wide applications. ;) It also has the added humor here of sounding phonetically similar to Dookie. ;) But, at least being your toy has some promise, as oppossed to other possibilities. I guess that video you posted was very apt. :D Heh!Um...no. There are several factors that must be considered when determining if a cat fight is "hawt." Otherwise, its "nawt." Boys are -so- confusing. ![]() |
