One of the major concerns about the new book I have been reading here is the lack of info on the gods. My question is this, is it info on the gods themselves that is lacking or info on their church? If it is on the gods, then that info is of less direct use, since players don't interact with the gods all that much. If it is a lack of info on their churches, then that is a concern, because that info makes it hard to create a good cleric or paladin.
I base this on the 4e ideal that it is the churches that do most of the actual work of any god, and they are of primary importance, since it is through them that clerics and paladins get their power, not directly from the god, with a few exceptions.

I want to see more on the Churches themselves, and I mean the organizations. I want to see how different the churches are in certain regions. I am tired on all the gods info, I want to know about the people who worship them.

Amusingly, I think my player characters actually interact more with the gods of the Realms than the clergy.

They know Selune but I don't think any of them could name a non-PC priestess of her.

Thats a sentiment I can get behind. Along with that, I would love to see a bunch of FR deity specific paragon paths

-Both. There is 100 (+/-) years of added characterization and change for each.

That's a good point. There has been a definite lack of detail about churches in the Realms for a long time, actually.

-That kind of information was provided in 2e, and really wasn't very necessary in 3e. How much (in theory) would the majority of Faerûn's faiths have changed in the...5 Realms years or so that passed between the 2e deity books and 3e?

It's not that the faiths changed much, it's that I always enjoy new lore about them.

Or giving new players easy access to the info.

-Given the focus more often than not of 3e, would you really expect much new information to be in a 'Church of X' entry in Faiths and Pantheons?

I didn't expect that, I'm just saying I would like it.

-I agree, but.
