Wizard Fairs

Sep 01, 2008 23:45:05 This actually is about two subjects... The aforementioned Wizard Fairs, and the Magister who's job it was to promote those fairs. Is there a Magister with no Azuth? Did the previous Magister keep his/her power when Azuth died? And are Wizard Fairs still being held?

I can see the power of the Magister still being available, but now truly passes from one person to another via a ritual cast on the defeated current holder of the title.

Thoughts, Ideas?

Sep 01, 2008 23:50:35 -Concerning Mage Fairs, I'd say that, yes, they still go on in places that were not very badly effected by the Spellplague.

The magister also had Chosen-like powers and that seems like a big no-no in 4E. The job of magister could still exist, however unlikely, but not the divinely empowered office of magister. I wouldn't mind seeing an organization of Magisters devoted to cleaning up magical mayhem, promoting magic and removing the stigma of the Spellplague and other magic incidents that left bad impressions. They could also work as a remnant cult to Mystra and Azuth.

I don't think there will be a magister anymore, given that both Mystra and Azuth are dead and will stay dead. The magister also had Chosen-like powers and that seems like a big no-no in 4E. Or perhaps an organization was started to take up those tasks, Call it the Council of Magisters, hey, there's one of those over in Running the Realms, what a coincidence.
