But I have never bothered to make him for 4th edition as of yet. Barra'Quortek Buki'Jesshc has lost his true name to time, this is a good thing as true names hold power. Barras name was lost at the fall of his city, his city in the sence he is the only living survivor and therefor the only one right to claim its herritage, but who would want to claim a ruin as theirs? Barra was unimpressive, a male in a Llolth-bound house he was looked past by almost all, he had little station above a servant and seemed quite comfortable in the shadows, often unseen even when in a room as his name was bellowed for attendance. For years he was the 'good' son, saying little and doing nothing to disturb his house, letting all honnor and praise fall to his siblings while he seemed to ride the coat-tails of his family name. When it came to the time of training, he did well enough, his magical talents were nominal with particular flair for illusions and in the school of melee he was passable with his short blades, but the one thig of note from both schools reports was his stealth and subtlety. From the minimalist gestures and words needed for his spells to outright misleeding of his gestures to push out an entirely different casting from the mages school, to the stealthy defeat of his fellow students, many often left robbed, bound and gagged for others to inflict their wickedness unpon a helpless drow with one time of note that a victim was left as bait for an even bigger prey. Barra awoke to find himself floating over an open pit. After the inital screaming and scrambeling he noticed his piwafwi had a note pined with a stilleto explaining he was in an invisable maze and if he escaped he would be rewarded, failure was death. The test was far shorter than most had expected as the first trap was a simple pitfall to the abyss below. Taking slow measure of the pits edges, length, hinged side, ect. He managed to climb down the hingedside of the open floor and used his natural levitation with a strong braced kick to coast out and away from the middle of the abyss to the edge of a wall and started to climb up, bypassing the maze entirely. The next time Barra awoke, he was being tended to by Tui'jor who seemed to show no malice to this victim and calmly explained that Barra was going to become a warrior of the shadow and the mind. Going to, no questions about it but a decleration, here his training began. While normaly this would be the montage of doing handstands over burning coals it was actualy much reading, blueprints, anatomy, herbalism, alchemy, geneology, Llolth scriptures... he read for years. (Stopping here for now as it is 5 AM, more next time.) |

For the moment Barra was a spy within his own house, simply taking notes and little more, when raids came he was always somewhere else to avoid the casualties and recognition. When hunting parties patrolled the caverns was when he worked his physical prowess, doing all he was trained to place a slowed or maimed foe before another to finish off, all the while watching and learnig how the others fought as well as who kept their weapons or other trinkets on themselves untill they died in the tunnels and slightly less treasure was divided amongst the survivors. For half a decade he practiced under his own roof and under the noses of his family untill Tui'jor came to upgrade the security to his families home, under this guise Barra gave five years of reconasance and lifted items to his teacher and given his first grisly assignment: To assassinate one of his twin sisters. Immediately fearfull that such a task was beyond him, Barra asked for an alternate assignment and recived a broken rib from the deepdwarf for doubting himself. The only tools he was given was a vial of poison even he couldnt identify and a strange wooden dagger, strange in the fact the wood was not of any mushroom he had ever seen. Steeling himself he used what he knew of his sisters to pick his target, the cleric was obviously too dangerous to go missing in a house of Llolth, but the mage would be missed far less, especialy if set to be in doubt of Llolths favor. This came about far easier than expected as it only took one remembered lesson from the mage school. He came upon the sisters chamber while both within and begged for forgiveness as he proposed a question: Not wanting to end up with more than broken ribs, he slid his sister onto her bed and slipped the vials contents down his dead sisters throat to plant the poison before he looted the room for arcane treasures. He was working upon the contents of her bookshelf when he heard the words of arcane power being chanted. With eyes upon the door this whole time he was stunned that anyone could have gotten past him when it came to the realization that the voice was his sisters, his dead sisters.
