Would Zehir attack Melora?

I'm preparing a campaign for some 10th-11th level PCs that involves a temple of Melora in the middle of a lake, which was attacked by cultists of Zehir 700 years ago, and is now about to become the site of the cultist leader's resurrection. Basically, I set it up so that the lake is connected through a vast river to most of the water in Faerun, and the Zehir cultists want to poison the water. Does this sound like a viable plot for Zehir followers? Does it sound at all believable that Melora would have a temple in a lake? And (not as important) where would be the best site for this lake? I didn't know if there was actually a lake such as this in Faerun, but I was planning on just making it up.

Also, this doesn't necessarily to be in Faerun, so if this sounds too outlandish, I can just say it's somewhere else, and our FR characters are just going there.

Thanks to anyone for helping!

I would say something to the effect that Melora doesnt belong in the Realms, but then again neither does Zehir, yet there he is, so go for it. Aside from whos a Realms deity and whos not, yes a conflict between the two would definatelt make sense.

Make your Realms your own. If it will result in a series of epic and memorable games for your players, then Go For It!!

Melora could be adapted to Eldath with little fuss to make this all fit in the Realms.

I definately prefer to use the god Set above his lackey Zehir too. Zehir hasn't been in the realms for longer than a single century, so he couldn't have attacked Eldath 700 years ago.

Perhaps its better to locate all this in a homebrew world with FR elements mixed in you and youre players feel more comfortable with.

Alright, thanks for the helpful feedback guys. I mainly wanted to use Zehir because he's the god of poison, snakes, and assassinations, so I was going to have Yuan-Ti assassins trying to poison the lake and kill everyone.

Basically, the theme of the dungeon part of the adventure is a ruined temple that has the architecture of a holy place, but has the feel of something much darker, because it has been tainted by the cultists.

Also, since Melora is the goddess of seas and storms, I figured she was a somewhat better choice than, say, Selune, because it would make more sense for her temple to be in the lake.

The whole thing with 700 years in between the events is that once my PCs defeat the cultists and their (possibly incompletely) revived leader, they'll travel back in time to stop him from desecrating the temple, then return to the present.

use them, faerun has its share of missing, dead, and lost gods.

-Given that both would be interloper deities, the origin of their artifice towards each other can somehow be related to their migration to Realmspace.

like the Raven Queen, she does NOT exist in the Realms.

Tell that to the guy playing the frakkin' Shadar-kai in the FR game I'm in. *facepalm* I can't stand that crappy excuse for a goddess, and in FR where you should be SAFE from it... Ugh.

He's got one of those 'doesn't get along with anybody' personalities too.

My cleric is going to beat him to death with his bare hands at some point, I know it. Although that might not be elegant enough for a Sun Elf. :P

-A two-fold question: (A) They are fleshing out the "Point of Light" world? (B) Rich Baker is it's creator?
