A possible source of tiles...

Jan 09, 2011 22:55:14 So, I just picked up this relatively new board game called Earth Reborn.

At the core, it's a fairly detailed (yet surprisingly simple and fast playing) miniature skirmish game.

It's a pretty funky post-apoc setting, 500 years after the catastrophe. There are 2 factions that have emerged from underground cities... the military NORAD and the occult, zombie-creating Salemites.

What the game has that us Gammarauders would want is the mess of tiles for making maps.
There's about 12-14 "Dungeon Tiles size" sheets worth of tiles, ranging from 4x4 down to 1x1, plus some odd shapes like L and +. And a linking frame to hold it all in place.

Total size is 16x20, and the tiles have beautiful post-apoc terrain on them. One side is primarily indoor rooms of various types (including a missile silo!) and the other sides are mostly outdoor terrain. There are chits for doors as well.

There's just one major drawback... the tiles can't be used with other tile sets.
Earth Reborn is of French design... so all the squares are 30mm, which is 1 and 3/16 inches, while other tiles and poster maps are 1 inch (25.4mm)
Also, the game rule icons on the tiles can be distracting for some people (on the upside, they very explicitly show LOS blockers and terrain that can't be moved through).

Oh, and the game is $80 MSRP (available online for $55).
Steep, but it's a really good game, with an interesting (and detailed) background (which can be imported into GW) and awesome tiles.
