| #1grapplethetrollNov 18, 2010 6:45:23 | Just curious if anyone else has had pages of their Gamma World book look like this: twitpic.com/36lyzk I only have about 5 pages like this, but I kind of would like to be able to read them without getting a migraine. Incidentally, I asked Wizards via twitter what I should do about this a couple times over the last few days and they've been unresponsive. So what do YOU GUYS think I should do. Box is opened, cards opened, tokens popped off the boards, etc. So I can't just return it to the store. Thanks! |

Just about any reasonable person would allow that, I would think. You could write WOTC and ask them what to do if they dont take the game back. |

| #4ChandrakNov 18, 2010 10:25:30 | Whoever does the printing for Wizards has a fairly high rate of misprints. Or at the very least, everyone who finds one comes and asks about it on the boards ;P I'd suggest taking it back to the store first and showing them the misprint, and see if they'll replace it. Otherwise, you can contact Customer Service and get a replacement. I've never had an issue with WotC products myself, but I've heard plenty of stories, and those people have been able to get replacements. |

If you have a serious customer service issue, tweeting's not the way to go. Would you tweet your bank if your account had a mysterious charge? As much as we criticize WotC's quality control, they do have a dedicated customer service line. You should use it. |
| #6Tony_VargasNov 18, 2010 18:16:47 | twitpic.com/36lyzk Your book's just experiencing Alpha Flux. Try to keep it away from hard radiation and rogue nano for a few days and see if it gets better. ;) Heh, it would be cute if the Doppleganger page had the misprint... |

I say this having spent a decade as a jaded retail monkey, so I know how that goes. Was mainly curious if others had the same experience and what they did. I'll try returning it this weekend. Chandrak: Oh yeah. Customer Service. Who'd a thunk it? ![]() battles: I'd hesitate to call this a serious customer service issue and more an annoyance that I'd like fixed but isn't critical. I happened to not be near a computer when I noticed and knew that if I waited I'd never do anything about it. Had my phone on me so twitter was the fastest way. Not that I feel I should NEED to explain myself here, but I figured I'd counter your mild snark with some background info. A misprint in a book is hardly an erroneous bank charge now is it? If you're going to compare at least try to be in the same ballpark. And absolutely, failing an attempt at a bookstore return I'll call the customer service line. Tony_Vargas: You may be on to something here. |
| #8AlphastreamNov 19, 2010 1:01:17 | I had an issue with a set of Dungeon Tiles once and asked over customer service. They gave me an address to mail it. When they receive it, they send a new one to you. I am sure you could do the same. Do open a ticket first, though, so it is all tracked. If you bought it at a store, I would try that first because you won't have shipping costs. |

I have had my fair experience dealing with customer service. I have worked in retail, technical support and in sales. Note: I would start out being polite, and then go to into irate mode if they are unreasonable. 1) I would recommend going into a store and asking several people. Keep asking people until you get the answer you want. Start with some random employee, and work your way up the chain of command. If you do not get the answer you like, then either 1) go to another location, or 2) make a scene. If that does not work, then get names of all the employees involved, and contact corporate. 2) Call corporate first and get permission to return the item. "I called and talked to Joe at 888-555-5555 and he said this is item is approved to be returned. 3) Ask about the return policy. Do the following if applicable. Buy another copy, go to the car, check to see if the new copy is good, keep the new copy, and return the misprinted book in the new packaging. I would think you to be well within your rights to be righteously pissed off if the store did not replace the misprinted book. |

And you knew that my previous comment was a "mild snark" because...? The point I was trying to make is that if your bank screwed up, you'd immediately get on the phone and try to talk to someone. If I'm going to drop $40+ on a new game, and the rulebook for that game comes out screwed up, that's WotC (or whoever they use to print their books) screwing up. So you have just as much a right to get upset. And customer service should be your first go-to, just like it would be with any other company. Darkrose, I don't doubt your "experience," but yelling and screaming and acting like a jerk isn't the way to go. Grapple, if you explain your situation calmly, and are reasonable, you're much more likely to get what you're asking for. Keep in mind that the bookstore's hands might be tied. That's why companies like WotC provide direct ways to get in touch with them. |
