"Welcome to Gamma Terra, home of every possible thing you can imagine, all mashed up together in a shattered, post-apocalyptic worldscape. The D&D Gamma World box set includes a description of what Gamma Terra is like, and its upcoming supplements include adventure details on places as far-reaching as Far-Go to the moon. When creating adventures, some GMs like to incorporate their own hometowns (or other real-world locations) into Gamma Terra. After all, what better place to play than your own backyard! This guide is for those GMs. The first part of this article deals with translating a specific location into a Gamma Terra version of itself. It is structured in a specific format meant to help facilitate the translation process, and it features random tables for your use. The second part presents the town of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, (mentioned in the Gamma World introduction, no less) translated using these guidelines. Why Peshtigo? Because that’s my hometown."
I thought they weren't doing GW articles in Dungeon. :p

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, that means that Gamma World is doing better than expected and they're willing to throw more support at it. At least, I hope that's what it means. Because I would LOVE to see more Gamma World products after these three boxes. I could really go for seeing them put out a Paragon tier Gamma World product. Or, truth be told, to just contiue to publish new products will new rule options, new origins and we could realy use things like mount rules. |
| #3battles14Dec 15, 2010 20:13:47 | For some reason, I thought this was just a preview of FiF-G. I'm really happy to see some actual support. Hopefully that means that GW is doing well. |
| #4SerpineDec 15, 2010 21:20:26 | I thought they weren't doing GW articles in Dungeon. :p Well, KJordan had said that they responded to his query that "they are not looking for any more Gamma World adventures at this time". So maybe they already have a reasonable feed of material in the pipe? And / or maybe they want to focus more on setting and gamestyle expanding stuff (like this article) rather then actual scenarios. In any case I'm beyond stoked to see some material for it out of them that isn't just published material preview . |
| #5Serow_DarkstarDec 16, 2010 7:12:45 | Hey, maybe we'll get a Gamma World Mounts & Vehicles article. |
| #6GhostStepperDec 16, 2010 14:44:11 | I hope none of my group reads this article because it "stole" my idea for a town with a flaming river!! My game is going to take place here in Cleveland, which some may know is notorious for having a real-life flaming river. In my gamma world its actually called Burning River City or BRC for short. |
| #7sithmeDec 16, 2010 15:04:46 | my computer won't let me download this . It says the file is damaged. Help? |
| #8FlashbackJonDec 16, 2010 17:51:35 | I thought they weren't doing GW articles in Dungeon. :p Note: it does not require DDI! (And has the "Free:" prefix in the calendar, rather than "DUN:") |
| #9ShivDec 17, 2010 17:00:47 | Hey all. Craig A. Campbell, author of "Hometown, Gamma Terra" here. To address some of the comments in this thread... GW Articles in the Magazines My understanding is that GW won't receive "official" support in the magazines. This article is free content. It is tagged "Dungeon" since it's an article for GMs. WotC has recently taken to tagging their free content (when appropriate) as "Dragon" (player content) and "Dungeon" (DM content). Tagging articles is just a way to make it apparent whether the content is intended for players or DMs. Future Support for GW I don't think there will be anything beyond the currently-released and currently-scheduled content. However, the free content side of the website may include additional articles (like this one) provided for free. We'll see. Is GW doing well? I don't really know. It's at least doing well enough to warrant the occasional free article on the website. Additional GW Content in the Pipe? Again, I don't really know, but I wouldn't be surprised if WotC publishes another few free articles in support of GW. There's certainly interest in the game. GhostStepper's GW City Idea Sorry, man. I didn't mean to rain on your parade. :-) I, too, know of Cleveland's "flaming river" but my article was not influenced by it. It's built entirely around my hometown of Peshtigo, WI and my imagination. That said, feel free to "steal back" anything you want from my write-up of PESH-Dig-Hole. Have fun with it. Anyway, there you go. I hope you GW lovers enjoy "Hometown, Gamma Terra." I had a great deal of fun writing it. I will be introducing my players to PESH-Dig-Hole very soon. Craig A. Campbell |

Maybe I am an idiot, but for clarification are you refering to "products" (boxes, books, cards) or web content here? |
| #11ShivDec 18, 2010 5:35:00 | Yeah, sorry, that statement is pretty unclear. Fixed below. "I don't think there will be anything beyond the currently-released and currently-scheduled PRODUCTS (boxes, books, cards). However, the free content side of the website may include additional articles (like this one) provided for free. We'll see." |
