| #1crazykoboldOct 19, 2010 11:36:20 | Last Friday, I showed up to our weekly 4e game. I had already picked up my copy of GW and was planning to run starting in Nov. When I arrived my DM said that she was exhausted and didn't know if she could run. I offered to start early, afterall I had a week to read the rules and come up with an epic campaign arc. When all the players had arrived she proached the subject of switching games early. We also had a good friend and previous group member coming into town. Seven players seemed a bit much for the adventure in the book so I was was going to have to up the challenges on the fly. Random character generation led to the following: Felinoid/Doppelganger: Bipedal black panther named Shadow. I generated this one while reading the rules. It was played by our guest player who arrived after we started playing. Radioactive/Ratswarm: A swarm of 5" tall red goblin looking creatures named Taffy. Seismic/Giant: 8' tall human named Wok Hod Wong, who speaks with a fake Chinese accent. Cockroach/Empath: 6' tall cockroach named Skitter. Doppleganger/Pure Strain Human: 6' human named Josh. Radioactive/Yeti: 7' red furred yeti named Vred. Electrokenitic/Radioactive: 5' tall woman named Sparks. The group started in an enclave named Freedom City located on Mount Charleston a short distance northwest of Lost Vegas. The enclave leader "Doc" asked Jitters to deliver a strange black box with no lid or apparent opening that hummed softly to a fellow scientist in Pahrump. He could enlist help for additional muscle and everyone would be payed 1 omega tech item each. With 3 pickup trucks, 1 horse, 1 wagon in the group, Jitters sought out the merchants of enclave to see if they wanted to transport any product to Pahrump. He then hired on the rest of the party and they started out loaded with trade items. They elected to stay off the roads and take the desert north of Vegas to avoid mutant gangs. After character creation and 45 minutes of background and role-playing I felt the group needed a fight. I decided that a group of dirt bike riding porkers with a couple of Yexil's performing areial recon would be appropriate. [Their tactics. The yexil's fly areial recon and when they find a target they circle out of weapon range and wait for the porkers to attack, then the Yexil's dive inot the fight] I used a hard DC to spot the Yexils and an easy DC to spot the dirt plumes of the porkers. The entire party failed the hard check, but most characters passed the easy check. The party drove into a gully and set-up a quick defense for the porkers. The fight was fun and interesting. The giant cockroach was the only casulty, so I managed to avoid a TPK. The player whose character was killed created a Seismic/Mind Coercer: 6' human with skin that looks like stone named Jitters. The group arrived at Pahrump and before they could deliver their items to "Tinker" and the local merchants a robot came rolling into town. It stopped near two children and started sparking. Quick reflexes saved the children when the robot blew up. While being praised as heroes they learned that "Tinker" and a small group of volunteers had set off a week ago for a nearby Badder steading that the robot bombs had apparently been coming from, but they have not returned. The group sets off for the Steading of the Iron King. I added 1 Badder and 1 Porker to S1, 1 Badder to S2, and nothing to S3. We stopped there and will resume next Friday. The future looks bleak for the party. Rival mutant gangs in Vegas, radioactive mutant zombies control Nellis AFB (nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons storage), grey aliens control Area 51, where there is a fully functional flying saucer (minus a power supply[the black box the characters are carrying]). If they survive all that then they can journey to Tranquility base on the moon controlled by machines bent on erraticating all biological life on Gamma Terra. What have I gotten myself into? |

| #6crazykoboldNov 16, 2010 21:04:34 | No, I've never played the fallout games. I was stationed at Nellis AFB for many years and even worked in remote locations in the desert. I was there when Bob Lazar claimed he was recruited to work at Area51. |
