| #1highlandraiderDec 27, 2010 19:25:41 | Anyone have a clue whether the Gamma World stuff [creatures, origins, mutations, etc.] will become available on DDI? I've been trying to figure out a reasonable means of getting monster cards to use during my games without having to flip through the books all the time.* I haven't even started running GW yet, had the book less than a month, and the pages are already looking as though they are nanometers from peeling from the binding. Thanks for any info. *Yes, I have tried just typing up the creatures using Monster Builder, but sheesh what a chore. ![]() |

Gamma World, from the looks of it, will not be a part of the character builder, adventure tools, or DDI. I have actually photocopied the stat blocks of the monsters and printed them on cardstock. Then I pull them from an index card box when I need them. Though, that's probably a copyright violation...*sigh* Even if it is for my own use. I find it easy to paperclip the stat blocks to my DM screen so I have quick access to the monsters in the particular encounter. |

| #6highlandraiderDec 28, 2010 9:56:59 | ExcalibursZone: That's what I was afraid of. Silly of WOTC all around. And the photocopy and paste to 3x5 card route is one I had thought of and likely will go ahead and do. WOTC might think it's copyright violation, but if I own the book, then making a copy for personal use is perfectly reasonable . . . especially since they are not providing an alternative solution. Delphmonk: Thanks for the offer, but I am hesitant to reproduce creature stats wholesale for monster builder for anyone else. Having those on my machine for personal use, again, I see as acceptable. I'm no lawyer, but the lawyer who does game with my group has indicated for personal use that kind of thing is covered by fair use and copyright law. Now, that being said, I'm still unsure why WOTC has allowed the Alpha and Omega cards to be typed up and added to the power cards list in another thread. Coreyhaim8mydog: Hmmm, I'm not sure what you mean by taking a screenshot of the Stat Block and pasting it into the encounter. I'm trying to avoid having to type all the creatures into monster builder in the first place. I sat down and typed up one the other night and it took waaaaay longer than what I really want to spend doing this. Funny handle, btw. Thanks for the response. |

I don't use 3x5's, I use my all-in-one to copy (not scan, no digital copies of the book) the monster stats onto card stock (110 lb for durability). I then cut out the monster stats and recycle the rest of the paper (paper terrain, buildings, etc). This way, I have all the stats, complete with errors if there are any. Putting them in the index card box just makes it easier to carry the monsters around. I really wish they'd make monster cards like they did for AD&D 2nd Edition...That would make things so much easier... I might consider getting a DDI account for the adventure tools so I can apply origins to them, level them up/down, etc. so that I have a diverse group of critters...That'll take more work though ;) |
| #8sirkaikillahDec 28, 2010 20:55:33 | I use the monster builder to make gamma world monsters. I don't have a problem with inputing the stats into the monster builder, it seems fast and simple enough for me. The inputing of the stats and powers also helps me remember those stats and powers; I'm a tactile learner, typing on a keyboard helps me learn. But it would be nice to have a GW monster library on the monster builder. |
