| #1MyztekJan 29, 2011 12:42:41 | I whipped up some quick home rules to allow people to play pureblood humans in Gamma World. I thought I'd toss them out there for others to consider (although I imagine we'll have pureblood human rules from WotC at some point if they keep making GW products):You may choose to play a pureblood human. Pureblood humans: <br />i. May assign 18 to an attribute of their choice and 16 to a second attribute of their choice. The remaining 4 attributes are rolled.<br />ii. May add 4 points to their fortitude, reflex and will defenses in any combination.<br />iii. Choose 4 skills that each gain a +4 bonus.<br />iv. Choose 3 at-will martial D&D powers for their PC (add your level to attack rolls and damage rolls) from the fighter, warlord, rogue or ranger classes. Powers can be taken from any combination of these classes.<br />v. As a minor encounter action, may check the omega charge of an encounter use omega tech during combat. A success recharges the item for a second use during that combat.<br />vi. Gain a +3 bonus to check omega charges (with the minor action or at the end of combat) and when performing an omega check (when omega tech is found).<br />vii. Gain a 2nd level utility power from the fighter, warlord, rogue or ranger classes at 3rd level and 7th level. You may not choose the same power twice.<br />viii. Gain a 1st level daily power from the fighter, warlord, rogue or ranger classes as an encounter power at 5th and 9th levels. You may nto choose the same power twice. <br />ix. At 2nd level your critical hits deal 1d10 extra damage and you may take a move action whenever you roll a critical hit.<br />x. At 6th level your critical hits deal an additional 1d10 damage and you may also take a minor action when you roll a critical hit (in addition to your move action). The basic idea is that pureblood humans are more versatile in what they can do, and have better luck with technology. |

Benefitted from medical gear that would poison or kill the others, communicated with AI's and robots that would not recognize the others, etc. etc. I could go on but that player had the rest of the party by the balls by the 2nd session, the rest of them actually started complaining that he was TOO Powerful! That Pure Human had lower stats in every category than everyone else, never used more than scavenged guns, a laser pistol and grenades when he could get them. His melee weapon was a combat knife. Now granted this was in the 1983 version of Gamma World, and a lot of his success was due to his actual "role playing" at the table. But I think it is an example of how and why a Pure Human can be a boon to a party in a world filled with seemingly Way-cool and powerful mutants! |
| #6ChandrakJan 31, 2011 14:30:12 | For the interested, the Gamma World Community Origins thread has a Pure Strain Human origin that counts for both origins, with powers included. With almost 60 new, community-balanced origins, if you're looking for homebrew content, check it out! (Is there any way to get a thread's title changed? It's still 'Custom Origins Compilation', and it really has taken off far more than i ever expected, so i need to rename it or start a new thread or something.) |

I'm starting up an iconic Kamandi-/Fallout-style "vault dweller expelled into the wastelands" campaign. My plan is to have the PCs start out human, but begin to suffer/develop mutations as they encounter flux zones and such. That's the plan at the moment anyway. And these rules work for me. |
