All Mounts have your defenses and hit points equal to your bloodied hit points. You can chose a mount when you reach 6th level. When mounted on a Podog, you have the following bonuses and ability: Speed 8 +1 bonus to Perception checks Resist 10 Sonic Headlong Charge Mount Encounter You and your Podog rush into battle, bowling the target over and leaving it exposed to an attack. Encounter • Bio Move Action Target: One Creature Special: You can shift 10 squares before making the attack. You must move at least four squares in a straight line just before the attack. Attack: Dexterity + your level + 2 vs. Reflex Hit: 2d6 + Dexterity modifier + twice your level physical damage and you knock the target prone. Miss: You grant Combat Advantage to the target until the beginning of your next turn. When mounted on a Pineto, you are considered large and have the following bonuses and ability: Speed 7 +2 squares to Ranged attacks +1 bonus to AC Pineto Trample Mount Encounter Your spiky beast of a mount simply runs over your enemies. Your elevated position aids your follow up attack. Encounter • Bio Standard Action Close Blast 2 Target: Each creature in Blast Special: You shift into the squares of the Blast. Push all targets 1 square out of the blast. Attack: Strength + your level vs. ACHit: 2d8 + Strength modifier + twice your level physical damage. Effect: You make a basic attack with a +2 bonus against any one target. |

As to the cool cyborg badger on the cover of 3rd edition, that is actually a giant (15+ feet long) mutant wolverine named Scar, the true founder of the Bonapartists Cryptic Alliance (aka the Ranks of the Fit; he made up the story about the bear) and leader of the High Lands. The rider Nort is looked at as his bodyguard though the two actually secretly shared the same conciousness. The two are detailed in the GW9 module Delta Fragment. Scar had movement 56 (current equivalent 14), 4 armor (14 AC?), crazy high stats, massive cybernetic augmented damage claw and bite damage, optic laser cannons, 11 different mutations, etc. Sadly its pretty much impossible to determine what a "normal" giant mutant wolverine would be from his stat blocks do to all the machine bits and him being half of an Ancient. ![]() |

I'd like to stick with character-based stats and improvements, but some of the possible steeds just don't jive. Oh, and we need motorcycle steeds... |
| #4SerpineNov 19, 2010 15:25:23 | I had initially thought of doing the character based thing like you did, but I ended up going the other direction since I also wanted to have some seperate stats in case the players got into a fight with a bunch of podogs or something. If I decided to put more effort into it I'd probably create some sort of system were you could spend a utility power or uber ability on "advanced mount training" or something to give them access to mounts with superior hit points / capabilities. But I'm holding out hope that we will see some official mount rules in Legion of Gold so I'm not going to invest any real time on it till after that point. For Motorcycles I'd probably go with the following (using the Skycycle for inspiration): - - - - - * Motorcycle, Racer: Hp 15, space 1 square; AC 12, Other Defenses 11; Speed 16 (60-90 MPH overland, 75 MPG); Driver: A driver occupies the motorcycle's space and must have one hand free to move it.; Load: 1 Medium creature: 25 lbs of gear. * Motorcycle, Hog: Hp 30, space 2 by 1 squares; AC 14, Other Defenses 12; Speed 12 (45-60 MPH overland, 25 MPG); Driver: A driver occupies the front square of the motorcycle's space and must have one hand free to move it.; Load: 2 Medium creatures or 1 Large creature: 100 lbs of gear. There is naturally a huge disparity between the speed per square as MPH compared to say, the Riding Horse, but this represents using the bikes in more of a close combat / tight terrain situation (pretty much walking the bike and using them for short bursts of speed) since otherwise you'd just shoot out of the battle zone... - - - - - |
