| #1coreyhaim8mydogMar 08, 2011 12:02:31 | Dubmaster and I were talking about doing this. We could probably do it here on the forum. Any other interest? |
| #2dubmastercMar 08, 2011 12:11:39 | You wanna DM or should I? |
| #3coreyhaim8mydogMar 08, 2011 12:27:41 | You should do it. I have another VT game going (when the VT is back up) and I am supposed to run a live game of some sort soon. |
| #4FlashbackJonMar 08, 2011 12:33:30 | I'm in. How we rollin' this thang? (I apologize profusely for the previous sentence.) |
| #5dubmastercMar 08, 2011 12:35:40 | I would be more than happy to DM, unless someone else wants to... otherwise start rolling up your PCs... |
| #6FlashbackJonMar 08, 2011 13:33:23 | If you want to "keep it honest," you can have players roll on Invisible Castle and put a specific campaign name in (you can also set up a campaign page but it isn't necessary to get the "find all rolls from campaign X" functionality). |
| #7coreyhaim8mydogMar 08, 2011 13:35:26 | Doctor Phobic. He's a corpse-like, radioactive wild nano addict. When he isn't trying to get high, he's trying to find ancient junk to play around with. Doctor Phobic is your friend. |
| #8FlashbackJonMar 08, 2011 15:47:14 | ...or we could do that, which I now approve of, having rolled a character with Gelatinous, my second favorite origin after Rat Swarm. Meet Kid Viscous, a sentient mass of residual sludge that makes his home in a small metal dinghy, carried on his back like a shell. When he's not storing shiny objects in his reeking innards, he's... well, he's pretty much always storing shiny objects in his reeking innards. ![]() Character artwork for Mud Bath by Peter Pagano: ![]() |
| #9coreyhaim8mydogMar 08, 2011 15:51:01 | In my IRL game, the guy who rolled a rat swarm also carries around a dingy. Then, this other player kept insisting on being carried in it. |
| #10FlashbackJonMar 08, 2011 16:36:15 | In my IRL game, the guy who rolled a rat swarm also carries around a dingy. Then, this other player kept insisting on being carried in it. That's the risk you take when assuming the burden of dingy ownership. |
| #11coreyhaim8mydogMar 08, 2011 17:10:07 | In my IRL game, the guy who rolled a rat swarm also carries around a dingy. Then, this other player kept insisting on being carried in it. *nods sagely* |
| #12lordkangusMar 08, 2011 17:42:38 | Ooh, This sounds fun. I'll roll someone up shortly! |
| #13FlashbackJonMar 09, 2011 16:56:24 | How do we get this bad boy rolling? I don't want to clutter the forum, but maybe another campaign specific thread. I would suggest a group, but the current forum software doesn't publicize those very well. |
| #14coreyhaim8mydogMar 09, 2011 17:20:07 | I think making a group would be fine once we have enough players. We don't really need to publicize once we have a group. If people want to join in and read posts, that's fine, but what else do we need publicity for? |
| #15FlashbackJonMar 09, 2011 17:33:58 | Publicity wasn't really the word I was looking for. I just like to keep threads like that in public spaces, since activity begets activity. *shrug* |
| #16dubmastercMar 09, 2011 17:34:11 | As soon as we have all our players we, I mean I, can start writing... and we'll go from there. I figured we can all do our own dice rolls, and go on the honesty system, and report what we roll when needed. When we come to combat Ill call out what map were using, hopefully we all have the boxed sets... if not let know beforehand, and we can all have our own one set up at home and all see whats happening physically with tokens while I fill in the rest... any other suggestions? Im just gonna need another day or two to get ready to begin... |
| #17coreyhaim8mydogMar 09, 2011 17:38:05 | I'm not sure how the maps will work. I'll look at them, but I won't leave them set up permanently as I need them for live games. Other than that, it sounds good. |
| #18dubmastercMar 09, 2011 17:38:18 | I also figured posting our game here for all to see would generate more interest, and who knows... there could be 3 or 4 PBEM games going at once eventually. ...and it'll just be fun to read. |
| #19coreyhaim8mydogMar 09, 2011 17:39:05 | I also figured posting our game here for all to see would generate more interest, and who knows... there could be 3 or 4 PBEM games going at once eventually. There's no reading in Gamma World. ....freakin' sleeth.... |
| #20dubmastercMar 09, 2011 17:39:20 | I'm not sure how the maps will work. I'll look at them, but I won't leave them set up permanently as I need them for live games. Other than that, it sounds good. Thats what digital cameras are for my friend... |
| #21coreyhaim8mydogMar 09, 2011 17:44:01 | I'm not sure how the maps will work. I'll look at them, but I won't leave them set up permanently as I need them for live games. Other than that, it sounds good. An excellent idea. Alas, I do not have one. I suppose you mean you'll take the pics, yeah? Then post them like the battle mat? |
| #22dubmastercMar 09, 2011 17:58:19 | I'm not sure how the maps will work. I'll look at them, but I won't leave them set up permanently as I need them for live games. Other than that, it sounds good. I could... or we could it all by description... like I used to do with D&D when I was a kid... couldnt afford the mini's... so it was all described with distances by the DM, and we each took notes for ourselves with them and made our own maps and kept track as we explored... We should get this all figured out before we start... |
| #23lordkangusMar 09, 2011 21:32:50 | Pilzbeben, the Fungoid Seismic... description/backstory soonish.![]() ![]() |
| #24serok42Mar 10, 2011 8:48:14 | I'm in, if there is room Spider Monkey (Arachnid / Simian) ![]() I can't get my character sheet to look right so I will mess with it when I get home. ![]() |
| #25FlashbackJonMar 10, 2011 9:46:56 | I could... or we could it all by description... like I used to do with D&D when I was a kid... couldnt afford the mini's... so it was all described with distances by the DM, and we each took notes for ourselves with them and made our own maps and kept track as we explored... Just label the grid, tell us the map, pick a corner and apply coordinates. Put the coordinates down in the posts as need be. Those of us with DDI could even reference the map on the website. I'm also okay with old-school imagination-style, I just really love the tactical aspect of 4e. The more I look around, the more I'm convinced I need to create an asynchronous web-based battlemat app. |
| #26dubmastercMar 10, 2011 9:58:28 | I'm in, if there is room Theres plenty of room... |
| #27dubmastercMar 10, 2011 10:00:50 | I could... or we could it all by description... like I used to do with D&D when I was a kid... couldnt afford the mini's... so it was all described with distances by the DM, and we each took notes for ourselves with them and made our own maps and kept track as we explored... I think Ill just use my map and post pics on the thread - if possible... |
| #28FlashbackJonMar 10, 2011 10:12:02 | I found an online, mostly asynchronous battlemap here: www.rpgtonight.com/ It's pretty functional but man it's ugly. |
| #29dubmastercMar 10, 2011 11:28:52 | I found an online, mostly asynchronous battlemap here: www.rpgtonight.com/ looks cool... however I dont want to take more time to figure something new... Id rather use existing maps and the grid system you suggested... along with digital pictures Ill be posting should be fine... I want to get started tonite or tomorrow with the opening... and then all of the PCs can respond as you will - as long as we all post once or twice a day... it should move at a good pace... and keep in mind that during encounters or when being stealthy... send each other private messages if its something the DM shouldnt hear. |
| #30FlashbackJonMar 10, 2011 11:51:27 | There are things the DM shouldn't hear? ![]() How do you feel about weapons that serve as both melee and ranged? (In Kid Viscous' case, a boat anchor on a chain that he also throws. If not, I can simply use the standard weapon swapping actions and flavor it as winding up to throw or pulling back to retrieve it.) Normally, I'm not all up on house rules or custom content, but I've made some big exceptions myself for Gamma World. So how about Oraibi's Weapon Shoppe or Glimm's Armor Customization? Naturally, I have no problem playing everything vanilla. ![]() |
| #31dubmastercMar 10, 2011 12:21:33 | Do whatever floats your boat... within reason. If hes swinging an anchor on a chain (pretty cool) its gonna probably limit his movement on the same turn... like I said within reason... We have 4 PCs so far... you guys need to let me some basic things about the party... how are you all moving together... on foot... in the truck... or whatever. And whos got the beers among you... never know... might run into some brubba's. |
| #32FlashbackJonMar 10, 2011 13:34:27 | So far we have a truck (but no fuel), a wagon (but no animals), a canoe (but no paddles), a tent, and two six-packs between us, pending Spider-Monkey's equipment. ![]() Unless the truck comes with fuel, in which case we put the tent on the wagon, attach the wagon to the truck, and sit in the bed of the truck, in the canoe, with the beer. |
| #33serok42Mar 10, 2011 13:40:02 | Camera, digital, Compass, Crowbar, Water purifier (water not included), Night-vision goggles, Compass Was the equipment the builder rolled for me. So no horse and no fuel. I do have 2 compasses if we ever get lost. ![]() |
| #34lordkangusMar 10, 2011 15:19:36 | Well, I have matches... maybe we can just burn the truck for the insurance money, yeah? I'm sure a sleeth somewhere is selling insurance... |
| #35coreyhaim8mydogMar 10, 2011 15:27:22 | Jon, do you know how to program a battle map? You know Obj C, perchance? I might could make a still to turn the beer into ethanol for the truck. Huh? Come on.... I'm a Doctor..... |
| #36coreyhaim8mydogMar 10, 2011 15:32:21 | Well, I have matches... maybe we can just burn the truck for the insurance money, yeah? I'm sure a sleeth somewhere is selling insurance... Insurance went down with the Late, Great American Empire. |
| #37lordkangusMar 10, 2011 17:30:10 | Insurance went down with the Late, Great American Empire. I'm sure it still exists! Some ideas never die... Although, perhaps its more like paying protection now... hmm... not so good a plan. |
| #38coreyhaim8mydogMar 11, 2011 9:09:25 | I'm going to have myself a revolver, a Colt Peacemaker, I think. I haven't decided what my melee weapon is yet. |
| #39coreyhaim8mydogMar 12, 2011 17:06:29 | When are we getting started, kids? |
| #40dubmastercMar 12, 2011 19:55:41 | When are we getting started, kids? Im sorry, I wanted to get started last night... but both my kids have had fevers... and my wifes working doubles at the hospital all weekend. I will get it going either late tonite or tomorrow morning... depending on how much attention my little ones need. Ive got a great story for you guys in store, and I hope you like robots... |
| #41coreyhaim8mydogMar 12, 2011 20:53:08 | When are we getting started, kids? Roll them up as plague carrying mutants! Doctor Phobic is immune to plague! Hoep they feel better soon. Chris |
| #42dubmastercMar 13, 2011 12:30:31 | Our story begins with the four of you... Dr.Phobic, Kid Viscous, Pilzbeban, and Spidermonkey having been sent from your village to trade for supplies in a larger town south of yours... you are travelling down a country road about 10 feet wide, with thin forests on both sides. It is the second day of three into your journey and the sun is starting to set... you all notice a small fire flickering down the road just out of sight... |
| #43coreyhaim8mydogMar 13, 2011 13:19:03 | Hoping to find premium grade wild nano, Dr. Phobic will move forward until he can get a better look at the light. When he's sure his traveling companions can't see, he scratches himself surreptitiously. |
| #44dubmastercMar 13, 2011 14:43:54 | quick pause while were waiting for the others... Im going to draw 1 alpha and omega for everyone - I have both complete decks, so theyll be no repeats. I also mix in cryptic alliance cards with both decks... and if I draw one for you, youll get a private message. so... for Dr.Phobic Omega#67Envirocape-DMcard, Alpha#15Proboscis-booster KidViscous Omega#27MassPistol-booster, Alpha#90StaticField-booster Pilzbeban Omega#58ErraticRifleHound-DMcard, Alpha#16Metalbody-booster Spidermonkey Omega#10FizzNeurojack-booster, Alpha#42AcceleratedClaw-booster |
| #45coreyhaim8mydogMar 13, 2011 15:11:39 | Let me see if I have either of those so I know what's what. Meanwhile, Doctor Phobic poses Elvis-style in his environcape. |
| #46lordkangusMar 13, 2011 17:57:48 | Pilzbeban slowly strolls forward, quietly reciting Lovecraftian sonnets to himself. Noticing the fire ahead, he runs his hand along the snath of his scythe, while maintaining the verse. |
| #47FlashbackJonMar 13, 2011 18:58:49 | His finely tuned senses detecting fire (and therefore, danger), Kid Viscous promptly disguises himself as an upturned boat, moving slowly and inexplicably down the road. He only collides with two or three obstacles, including an oddly-posed Dr. Phobic. (Moving Stealthily (1d20+10=27), for whenever that matters. Using "DubmasterC" as the campaign name if anyone takes to it.) |
| #48coreyhaim8mydogMar 13, 2011 19:49:36 | He only collides with two or three obstacles, including an oddly-posed Dr. Phobic. Dr. Phobic swears in an ancient tongue of lost sages known as "Cling-On." |
| #49dubmastercMar 14, 2011 10:51:44 | As you all move slowly closer to the fire you make it out as a small campfire, just to the side of the road with what seems like 3 humanoids gathered around, talking and laughng... thay havent noticed your approach yet (despite the incognito canoe cruising down the road)... |
| #50serok42Mar 14, 2011 11:06:18 | Spider-Monkey wants to creep up a little bit closer and try to listen to what they are saying. Leaping from tree to tree as stealthfully as I can. Athletics 19 Stealth 27 Perception 13 (I would use my Toxic Web at-will to create webs to climb across if necessary and of course if it is allowed) Edit: There is no way my stealth was that high. I thought it was a +9 it is actually a +5 so my stealth for this was 23 instead. |
| #51dubmastercMar 14, 2011 12:09:01 | As Spidermonkey creeps ahead of the pack( and past the canoe ), staying in cover, he gets just up to the edge of the light from the campfire. Its now dusk. You can barely make out their conversation, but what you can hear... they're drinking and talking loudly..."gonna make the trade tomorrow... despite what we been's through." one with a deep voice says. "no lights for two days now..." one of the others responds "and we make it." |
| #52coreyhaim8mydogMar 14, 2011 21:25:09 | Dr. Phobic will attempt to clear his drug addled mind and use his knowledge of conspiracies to suss out what these warping, kaleidoscopic monsters are talking about. (Tried Jon's Invis Castles, got an error. My conspiracy is +11) (I also get a minus 1 for being a paranoid) |
| #53dubmastercMar 14, 2011 21:55:08 | DrPhobic gets close enough to determine these "creatures" sitting about the fire seem to be ordinary men... they each have makeshift shields and spears stuck in the ground next to them. You also make out a small handcart next to a tree with supplies of some sort. You make out more of their conversation, they have made the same journey as you, although from a greater distance, and seem to have run into trouble of some sort two days earlier. One of them looks up and says "hey, whats that canoe doing?" - just kidding on that part... |
| #54dubmastercMar 14, 2011 22:08:49 | On a side note... I cant figure out how to post pictures on the thread... could someone please explain how you are all doing it? |
| #55coreyhaim8mydogMar 14, 2011 22:14:28 | On a side note... I cant figure out how to post pictures on the thread... could someone please explain how you are all doing it? Dr. Phobic will stand up in as non-threating a manner as someone as awesome as Dr. Phobic can. "Gentleman, I believe I may be of some assistance in your present troubles." He'll be ready with his revolver just in case he sense they have wild nano they aren't sharing. >>>To post a pic you click "Insert Photo" from the little menu under the reply post you are no doubt using now (or will be soon). You then see a screen where your photos will be stored, only you don't have any yet. You select upload photo from that screen. Hit the browse photos or whatever and direct the search to where the photo is on your computer. Wait for it to upload, then click it so it is highlighted. Click select photo. The photo will load in the aforementioned reply/post window. |
| #56dubmastercMar 14, 2011 22:24:29 | Duh, I was trying to use the little menu on top and didnt even look down... my name is Chris and I live in a house... |
| #57dubmastercMar 14, 2011 23:09:06 | The three of them leap to their feet spears/shields in hand amazingly fast. The one in front yells "Chaz, cover the gear, there may be more..." and as he backs up to the cart replies "Ive got it." The one in front takes a hesitant step forward holding a street sign shield with his spear raised "Who are you stranger? Are you alone?" |
| #58lordkangusMar 14, 2011 23:56:23 | Pilz stops his recitations, take a firm grip on his scythe and tries to move in closer, sticking to the shadows to avoid being seen. (Rolled a 17 for my stealth.) |
| #59coreyhaim8mydogMar 15, 2011 0:27:34 | The three of them leap to their feet spears/shields in hand amazingly fast. The one in front yells "Chaz, cover the gear, there may be more..." and as he backs up to the cart replies "Ive got it." The one in front takes a hesitant step forward holding a street sign shield with his spear raised "Who are you stranger? Are you alone?" "Alone.....? Hmm....? That's a good question. How does one define being alone? Am I alone because I have only myself and my perceptions of the nominal world? Or, am I alone because the nominal world can only disclose itself to me via my own perceptions and not those of any other? Ooo! Shiny street sign. Neat! Do you have one that says **** Xing? I need it for the collection I plan to start one day." |
| #60dubmastercMar 15, 2011 0:38:50 | He then takes a step backward and the end of his spear starts to spark with red light... and so do the other two shortly after. "What is your name and business... stranger?" he then gives a nod to the closer of the other two. "You may approach slowly." |
| #61dubmastercMar 15, 2011 0:40:11 | Pilz stops his recitations, take a firm grip on his scythe and tries to move in closer, sticking to the shadows to avoid being seen. (Rolled a 17 for my stealth.) Nice roll. You pulled it off. |
| #62serok42Mar 15, 2011 8:09:09 | Spider-monkey will stick to the trees waiting to see how this plays out. Ready to spring into action if Dr Phobic is attacked. Stealth 7 (so apparently I was not very quiet about it) |
| #63dubmastercMar 15, 2011 9:36:13 | As Spidermonkey creeps a little closer a branch breaks... and he falls to the ground landing just beside the Dr. The three men are startled... the two facing you crouch down behind their shields, spears glowing more brightly "Stay where you are stranger! I ask you once more... how many are you?"he yells. "We are scavengers from the badlands... we do not seek trouble." The ends of their spears starting to spark and cracle more... |
| #64lordkangusMar 15, 2011 17:29:43 | Pilz steps out from the shadows, lowering his scythe. He speaks some verse. "I shivered oddly in the cold, thin air, And wondered where I was and how I came, When a cloaked form against a campfire’s glare Rose and approached, and called me by my name." "I too am here," He points at one of the men, and tries to guess his name. "You are Joseph, yes?" (Interaction check: 5+3=8) |
| #65FlashbackJonMar 15, 2011 17:59:19 | The lump of mud remains under his boat, gurgling quietly. He feels oddly charged as sparks fly from the spears. Attempting to stay in the shadows provided by the firelight, he moves over towards the cart, seeking only an innocent peek inside. Moving Stealthily again, if required (1d20+10=17) (I'd prefer the first one though ) |
| #66coreyhaim8mydogMar 15, 2011 19:17:16 | "We are travelers too. Scavengers of a sort. Looking for vim and vigor in the variegated varmints who vex us. Those spears are neat, is that wild nano that makes them go?" Interaction: 12+2=14 |
| #67dubmastercMar 15, 2011 22:22:06 | "Jo - Sef?" the middle one says... "I am Waye." He lowers his spear as it dims. "and I am Mane..." the one in front says "... come join our fire friends." his spear also dimming. "Chaz, keep watch..." he says to man guarding the cart as he walks toward the doctor. "We are headed south to the big trade... expect to be there tomorrow. We scavenged in the badlands for artifacts... lost half our group... to the lights." he looks down and sighs. "but, we make it so far..." Waye speaks up "We still have the warren to pass..." Mane turns to answer "We will pass the floppsies in the morning as they sleep." he says picking up his drink and offering it to the doctor. "and what do you mean by Nan-O?" |
| #68coreyhaim8mydogMar 15, 2011 22:25:35 | "Little buggy things that make you go. Or heal. Or, you know, make you feel reaaaaal goooood." (whispers) "Pilz, how did you know his name?" "Thank you for the drink, friends. What about these lights that got your equally fine friends?" |
| #69dubmastercMar 15, 2011 22:27:04 | "... and is that canoe coming down the trail with you?" |
| #70coreyhaim8mydogMar 15, 2011 22:39:53 | "... and is that canoe coming down the trail with you?" (whispers) "That canoe thinks it's a person. Don't tell it different or it will freak out." |
| #71lordkangusMar 15, 2011 23:15:29 | (whispers) "This is the hour when moonstruck poets know, doctor... but truly I did not. It was a simple guess inspired by the 17th sonnet of Yuggoth." "I am Pilzbeben, son of Pilzvater, follower of Sh'geoth. It is a pleasure to meet you men. This big trade you speak of... would they have books of the Ancients there?" |
| #72coreyhaim8mydogMar 16, 2011 0:12:03 | "I had a radioactive hamster named, Yugguth. I don't have him anymore. There was some.... unpleasantness." |
| #73FlashbackJonMar 16, 2011 8:56:05 | With almost an infuriating slowness, the dingy inches across the ground towards the cart as if the conversation were unheard. Finally it settles next to the cart and pretends no one can see it. |
| #74dubmastercMar 16, 2011 10:43:49 | "You know not of the lights?... then you must be from the north." Mane says, sitting back down by the fire. "We are from the east... across the badlands. If you seek books of the ancients... you will find that and more there. We are known as scavengers where we're from, we sneak in and out of the badlands, where the ancients once dwelled... in metal towers high up, and even in the ground. The area is full of artifacts and other ancient mysteries... like these." he says grabbing his spear by the end and it sparks to life" We do not know how they work, only that they do." he turns it off, sticks it back in the ground. "The lights are flying machines that took three of my men during our passage, there is no defense against them... they make almost no sound until they are upon you, then it is too late. I see you too must be headed to the trade, with all you carry... good thing you ran into us, the warren lies between us and the trade. The floppsies feast on our kind... and destroy artifacts with their touch! Ive dealt with them many times more than I care to. The hunting parties only come out in dark, and shouldnt be this far north. We will leave at first light and make it by safely..." he looks around at all of you and back to the doctor "...but there is strength in numbers." |
| #75coreyhaim8mydogMar 16, 2011 11:12:15 | "There is strength in numbers my friend. Let us depart together and on the way you can tell us of the dread floppsies." I'm going to look at the light stick and use my science to try to conjure what it do. 9+7=16 |
| #76dubmastercMar 16, 2011 11:51:27 | You determine its some sort of energy spear, photonic in nature which the three carry, as well you notice another sticking out of their cart. A while later Mane asks if you have anything among your group for trade... "its good luck when strangers pass to trade something..." then suggests one of each party should stand watch... and points to Spidermonkey "you could cover more area from up in the trees." |
| #77serok42Mar 16, 2011 13:22:47 | Spidermonkey gets up and dusts himself off. Hello, Yea, sure thing. I'll keep watch in the trees. I really like the trees. He will then take off up the tree he just fell out of. |
| #78coreyhaim8mydogMar 16, 2011 18:22:20 | You determine its some sort of energy spear, photonic in nature which the three carry, as well you notice another sticking out of their cart. A while later Mane asks if you have anything among your group for trade... "its good luck when strangers pass to trade something..." then suggests one of each party should stand watch... and points to Spidermonkey "you could cover more area from up in the trees." "I would be proud to carry the spear of your fallen brother and would gladly trade you an item of value to seal our new pact." Then I twitch involuntarily as the wild nano withdrawal starts to hit. |
| #79lordkangusMar 16, 2011 19:58:22 | "I have never seen thge lights myself, but I believe my faith speaks of them... 'I never can be tied to raw, new things, For I first saw the light in an old town, Where from my window huddled roofs sloped down To a quaint harbour rich with visionings.' Lights in the old town, or as your people call it, the badlands.... I look forward to this market. May Sh'geoth guide us past the warren of the flopsies..." I throw my scythe into my wagon with my other gear and tow it along via a harness made of rope (from the explorer's kit). |
| #80dubmastercMar 17, 2011 11:42:00 | He offers the spear for your beer... but tells you that it was damaged, and only works at half strength. You now have a Dim Photonic Spear - DMcard#80. You all sit around the fire keeping warm, taking turns gathering wood, sharing food and drink. Mane tells you more of the floppsies "With their long ears, they have fine hearing, and are silent and stealthy. Ive faced them more than once... they can leap in the air, and like that... be on the other side of you! Make no mistake... they are pure evil."The night goes by uneventful with Spidermonkey and Chaz keeping watch... at first light, you make ready to set out. Its a few miles journey down the country road when it comes to a larger road of the ancients made of stone. The carts are much easier to move down this road, and you are making better time... when Chaz, who was scouting ahead down the road rushes back "We Have trouble." he stops to catch his breathe."What is it?"Mane asks nervously."About five minutes travel ahead... a large chariot of old, and a lone floppsie by it was all I could made out." he answers. Mane trys to comfort him "You were wise to return. They are crafty" he looks to the rest of you "What shall we do? This is the only way there... are you sure there was only one? and what was he doing out in the day?" |
| #81serok42Mar 17, 2011 12:14:24 | Well if this thing is (spidermonkey sarcastically makes the air quotes motion) "pure evil" as you say. Maybe we should go up there and capture it and find out what it is doing here. It is just a bunny rabbit. |

Wiping the sweat from a trembling brow and trying not to think of wild nano, Dr. Phobic says, "It seems...uh....it seems to me we could make like this here ancient chariot of ours done broke down on this here road. What we.... uh.... what we do is, see, we pretend it broke down and then we wait for the flopsies to come by.... And most of us is hid in the brush so as to flank them. You know, we ambush them like that. They think this here chariot is easy prey, then we turn it round on them." |
| #83FlashbackJonMar 17, 2011 16:45:29 | The slab of pondmuck burbles over to the doctor, and a single mossy appendage creeps out from under the dinghy, looking not unlike a giant, earthen snail. It affixes several small bottlecaps, pilfered from one of the carts, to the hull of the boat like tiny metal barnacles. After verifying their successful adhesion, it addresses Phobic and Mane. Its voice sounds a bit like a person drowning in pudding. "Y'think these flopsies might 'ave more shinies, doc? Mebbe they won't see me..." |
| #84lordkangusMar 17, 2011 17:38:25 | "That sounds like an excellent plan, doctor. Perhaps it is best if I leave my wagon here before we commence. The flopsies may suspect something if they see another vehicle on the road." I roll my wagon off the road and cover it in brush, taking my gear out. |
| #85dubmastercMar 17, 2011 17:39:11 | Mane finally comforts down the younger Chaz "Calm down son..."and looks to the doctor "What should we do? confront it, or wait it out?" when Waye steps forward "Im going to get a better look, whos coming with me?" dropping his gear and readying his shield and spear. |
| #86coreyhaim8mydogMar 17, 2011 17:50:30 | Mane finally comforts down the younger Chaz "Calm down son..."and looks to the doctor "What should we do? confront it, or wait it out?" when Waye steps forward "Im going to get a better look, whos coming with me?" dropping his gear and readying his shield and spear. Be silent like the still wind, Mane. We'll wait here and set up a surprise for them flopsies." The Good Doctor makes a mental note t pout something nice and poetic on Mane's tombstone. Perhaps some of that Cthulloid verse the Viscous Kid is on about all the time. |
| #87serok42Mar 17, 2011 18:44:18 | I think we should do Doc's ambush idea but if you think I am going to let you go out there alone, then you are crazy. We need to be extra quiet if we go out there. Spider Monkey has a 20 stealth when needed |
| #88dubmastercMar 17, 2011 18:44:38 | Waye goes by himself after no one else steps forward... returning a short while later. "I only saw one, and it looked hurt. It sits leaning against the great chariot which is on its side... thought I saw blood but cant be too sure... stayed a ways back, didnt want to alert it." Mane and Chaz stash their gear and cart off the road and cover it in brush as well. The two of them retreive crossbows and bolts. "If we can get it with a long shot... have any of you ranged weapons?" |
| #89dubmastercMar 17, 2011 18:46:25 | I think we should do Doc's ambush idea but if you think I am going to let you go out there alone, then you are crazy. We need to be extra quiet if we go out there. quick rewind... Spidermonkey went with and backed him up... you saw the same. |
| #90serok42Mar 17, 2011 18:47:39 | Isn't someone new going out there to confront them? that is what I gathered from it. Unless I read it wrong. |
| #91dubmastercMar 17, 2011 18:51:38 | He just went to get a better look and scope out the situation. |
| #92coreyhaim8mydogMar 17, 2011 21:57:57 | "Sounds like they're trying to pull the same trick we are! Basterds, stealing my plan!" "I have a boomstick, gentlemen." |
| #93serok42Mar 18, 2011 6:09:09 | Let's just stick to the helpless motorist ambush plan. That is a good one. |
| #94coreyhaim8mydogMar 18, 2011 10:52:32 | "Done." We wait. |
| #95serok42Mar 18, 2011 10:54:13 | Spider-monkey will hide back in the trees and wait for the flopsies to show up and make a move. I'll just use the 20 stealth from earlier unless you want me to re-roll it. |
| #96coreyhaim8mydogMar 18, 2011 10:57:42 | I'll pretend I'm trying to figure where the go juice is in the Dodge Chariot. |
| #97lordkangusMar 18, 2011 11:13:19 | I will attempt to hide in the bushes. Natural 20... yipes. Do I really look that natural? I guess I am a giant mushroom... |
| #98coreyhaim8mydogMar 18, 2011 11:17:49 | I will attempt to hide in the bushes. "Let's hope they don't try to "pick" you." |
| #99dubmastercMar 19, 2011 11:13:12 | sorry for the delay... having technical difficulties with my camera and getting pictures of the gamemaps to my computer, almost got it... |
| #100coreyhaim8mydogMar 19, 2011 11:56:47 | "I attack this 'camera' you speak of." |
| #101dubmastercMar 19, 2011 17:31:39 | Sorry again, back to our story...As Mane and Waye creep up to just within sight of it, they hide just behind some bushes as the doctor follows behind with his "boomstick". Mane draws his crossbow, and slowly loads it... the floppsie sits against the great machine, slumped over. "What now?" he says looking the doctor. Dr.Phobis is just behind the two men at the top. There is forest on both sides of the road... Spidermonkey must pick his starting spot, in the trees just out of sight. Pilz is in a bush, hiding... must also indicate which bush is his starting spot. and where is the dingy? The younger of the three men is back down the road guarding yours and their gear... |
| #102coreyhaim8mydogMar 19, 2011 17:49:55 | I thought we were waiting for the flopsies to come to us? I am confused now. |
| #103lordkangusMar 19, 2011 19:08:15 | Pilz grasps his scythe with both hands as he stoops in the northeast square of the large bush cluster east of the truck. |
| #104dubmastercMar 19, 2011 19:29:17 | I thought we were waiting for the flopsies to come to us? There are no others you can see... just the one. |
| #105coreyhaim8mydogMar 20, 2011 1:12:06 | "Man/Dane, flank left and right around me, outta sight like." Dr. Phobic strides up to the flopsie. "Say there long-ears, you look a like someone knocked the wind outta ya. Can we be of assistance?" Gun out. Morricone score playing. |
| #106FlashbackJonMar 20, 2011 11:54:51 | The Viscous Kid skirts the edge of the forest, blending in perfectly with his surroundings (disguised as a Nor Merigan Wilde Boate, Navis vilis) and making surprisingly little noise. (Moving left (west) along the top row, Kid Viscous is Invisible, and makes a Stealth check to become hidden (1d20+10=18).) |
| #107dubmastercMar 20, 2011 15:34:56 | As Dr.Phobic approaches he notices a large amount of blood, and a large hole in its chest... it appears to be dead. Its holding a short sword in one hand and some type of ammunition in the other. Mane and Waye are looking out on both sides of the Dr. and he instructed, Mane climbing on top of the back of the truck for a better view. Pilz lies in the upper right square of the large bush, completely blended in keeping watch as well. As Kid Viscous skirts along the northern part of the woods he sees and hears nothing. Spidermonkey, up higher in the trees, notices several creatures approaching from the woods north of you (off the map), they arent approaching very fast... you have a minute or two. What do you do? I once again appoligize for the bad pics, using my phone till I can figure out the camera uploading stuff... |
| #108lordkangusMar 20, 2011 16:28:57 | I remain still in the bush, and attempt to get a better look at the creatures approaching. Perception: 8+1 = 9 |
| #109serok42Mar 21, 2011 6:26:20 | Spider Monkey will try to get in those trees by the mushroom 17 stealth |
| #110coreyhaim8mydogMar 21, 2011 16:34:13 | Doctor Phobic will take the ammo and examine the wound in the hoop, trying to determine what sort of weapon it was killed with. He will then check to see if the upturned chariot has go-juice. If it has go-juice, he may decide to make a firewall between the party and the approaching (presumed) villains. Alternatively, he may use the go-juic as a fuse to blow the truck when the nasties get close enough. How dry is the forest on the North Side? |
| #111FlashbackJonMar 22, 2011 11:02:41 | The dinghy slushes along, checking to see if the back of the chariotbox is open, and if there's anything shiny inside, then slides past it to hunker down behind it. |
| #112coreyhaim8mydogMar 24, 2011 9:51:54 | Dr. Phobic suspects that aliens are behind the recent disappearance of his traveling companions. |
| #113dubmastercMar 24, 2011 11:36:17 | As Dr.Phobic examines the dead hoop, he notices there is a hole clean through its chest, and burned. He's never seen this kind of injury before... and the chariot has no "go juice" as its probably been sitting there for a while. Spidermonkey and Pilz remain conceiled in the bush awaiting what comes. The two humans who travel with you have both taken up spots on the back of the truck lying down while the Dingy lies at the rear of the truck, which has no back doors, and is empty, no "shinies". Five houndfolk emerge from the forest, growling at each other. They are moving very slowly, carrying axes and chains. The ones in the rear constantly snap at each other, growling. "Where is the long ears you spoke of?" one says to the leader, who is carrying a strange looking gun... "We leaves him on other side of that". he answers pointing to the truck, when he looks down at the dingy... "Whats that?" they pause and stare at it "It not here in the night". |
| #114coreyhaim8mydogMar 24, 2011 23:33:28 | Dr. Phobic gets his six-shooter ready and slips between the cab and the trailer out of the dog-borther's line-of-sight. |
| #115dubmastercMar 29, 2011 11:56:38 | As Dr.Phobic squeezes in between the cab and trailer... the other 3 PCs just stay where they are - I guess. Mane and Waye, atop the side of the trailer ready themselves... The lead Hound says to the two at the back "Check that out..."pointing to the dingy "...and circle around the other way." He leads the other two hounds down the length of the trailer, stopping to put his nose up in the air and sniff " I smell something..." The two hounds at the rear start kicking the dingy... wondering what it is when the leader calls out "Search inside the great chariot... I smell man creatures near!" Stepping on the dingy, they start to climb in the back of the trailer... |
| #116coreyhaim8mydogMar 29, 2011 14:17:23 | I say we tell them to drop their weapons and paw for the sky. With the two guys on the top of trailer moving towards the edge, Phobic coming out from behind the cab and Kid Viscous flanking around from the bushes to the right of the map, we'd have them more or less surrounded. At the very least we should get a surprise round. |
| #117coreyhaim8mydogApr 05, 2011 13:59:06 | So, are we playing this anymore? |
