Source for 1" figure bases?

Feb 04, 2011 12:06:24 I've been repurposing some Heroclix and Dreamblade minis for Gamma World, and am looking for a source of 1" round, black bases.

I have a lot of Games Workshop "slottabases," but I'm OCD enough that the open slot annoys me. (Yes, I could fill it, but that requires a couple of extra steps, and I doubt I'd be satisfied with the resulting look in any case.)

I had a handful of "filled" GW round bases which worked perfectly, but if I want more, GW only sells them in bags of 10 for the absurd price of $4.50.

Ideally, what I want is something:

1 inch

Round

Solid

Black

Plastic

Please, no suggestions along the lines of "well, this one is 1", but it's a hexagon so you'll have to round off the edges." Thanks!

They are hobby plywood, though, so if you needed it to be hollow, no luck there.

Their magnetic bases are even cheaper than GW's plain ones:

Also a few options here:

That said, it is way harder to find plain, plastic 1" bases with no slot than I would have imagined.

Feb 04, 2011 19:20:49 I don't know what craft or hobby stores you have near you, but my Ben Franklin's sells 1" round disc that are about an 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick. I just paint those black and use them. If you want you can sand them a little to touch them up but they work fine for me. I think I have pictures of figures on them in the proxies thread.

EDIT:
This guy is using one of them I simply sprayed it white then penciled in cracks on it. You could always paint it strait black.

Also they're 10 cents a pop.

Disclaimer: The guy who started this company runs hobby clinics at my FLGS, so I may be a bit biased ... but with a decent paint job, these bases look pretty much amazing under almost any figure.
