Replies to this announcement are to be issued in the Noise thread. Please do not post to this thread.

Sorry about the volume, but since I've got your attention now, please keep reading.

We've got a little something in mind for this month, but we're going to need to know a few things to make this work. I'm not making any definite declarations yet, except for one: it does not involve dropping houses on top of PCs. (Offer void for gnomes named Jaroo or bandits named Akried.)

Okay, two: no paladins will be drowned in the course of these events. Consider this a temporary ceasewater, Gamis. Just be warned that it might come at a price down the road.

"She's a witch! Burn her!"

Hey, whoa, let's not be hasty...

But let's get back to the subject. This project has several things going for it:

1. It doesn't matter that your character is presently on adventure or preoccupied with other ingame tasks (such as making a chain shirt). You may still freely participate in this without disrupting that other activity.
2. It doesn't matter that your character has never met other PCs involved in these proceedings -- nor does it matter that your characters would be unlikely to ever interact otherwise.
3. It doesn't matter that you might not have much time. What I have in mind is designed to account for such things. The only drawback is that play is likely to occur at a faster scale than is the norm for this game these days. (Closer to the insane pace we've seen on other occasions, in fact.) IM interaction is likely to be the norm for this setup, and we'll need to know in advance when you'll be available (hours, time zone, and days).

It's got one big strike against it, however: if you're playing an elf (but not a half-elf), direct involvement is going to be problematic, if not impossible. I apologize for the disservice to everyone from the late A'maelhin to the recent Tyros, but there's a reason why this is so. That doesn't mean that you, the player, can't get involved if you're interested -- just say the word in Noise, because there will be other ways to get you involved. There may even be ways to involve your characters, but that's dependent on either a sudden stroke of insight revealing an as-yet undiscovered option or fortuitous circumstances that make one or two of the foreseen options available. (Right now, the latter possibility seems unlikely. Life's like that sometimes, unfortunately.)

So what's this all about? Well, I can't tell you yet. The particulars will be defined in large part to be relevant to the participants. I'll warn against expecting loot (at least in the short term -- I won't guarantee anything in the longterm either, but I'm working on that), just in case that tidbit of information might be relevant to whether or not you'd want in on this. Characters are likely to aquire less tangible benefits, however.

How long will this take? It should be over long before the funeral of Mirielle and Gamis, an event planned for later this year. Sometime between two and four weeks. (I'll aim for just over two weeks, but odds are that it will go over that budget -- hence the possibility of four.)

And there you have it: an announcement that something undefined is happening, and an invitation for you to tell us how interested you are and when you're available.

Gee, Bob, when you put it like that, how can we refuse?

That's entirely your choice, of course. You're just going to have to trust me.

Like we did when--

Yes.

But I didn't even--

Exactly.

Aren't-

Nope.

How do you-

Script control, remember? Now be quiet so I can get this posted and see what people have to say about it in Noise. I may have a lot of other questions to answer yet.

Well--

Not yours.
