#1 ochre_jelly_dup Sep 22, 2008 12:21:20	I'm interested in running a GH campaign setting, but I began really playing and buying my own books when 3.0 hit stores. So, my question is: What gaming books will add to my knowledge of GH. I have the first 3.0 D&D gazetter (with brief descriptions of communities), and I just purchased (via e-bay) the 192 pg 3.0 Living GH gazetteer. What 1st and 2nd Ed. stuff would add to descriptions, background info, and NPC's, maps, etc. I also have sever 1st. ed modules that take place in the GH setting. Oh, also what Dragon Mag's have a large amount, or very good info in them on GH. Thanks in advance, for helping this GH noobie out.
#2 Zuggster Sep 22, 2008 21:25:52	Greyhawk Adventures (Hardcover book came out for 1st after 2nd ed was released) Living Greyhawk Gazetteer (Softcover book for 3rd ed) Greyhawk Adventures From the Ashes (2nd ed Box Set) Post War Greyhawk Adventures Greyhawk (2nd Ed Box Set about the City) Pre War There was a Greyhawk Wars box set, but that was a Wargame setup, not much RP info in it The 2 2nd Ed Box Sets included a number of adventures and such, as did the Hardcover book. The softcover was pure fluff and background info. That might help you get started.

The one I have (I don't know if there were more than 1).... Authors on the cover are, Gary Holian, Erik Mona, Sean K Reynolds, Frederick Weining. Cover Pic is a Wizardly type (in blue) holding a staff over the bodies of a Blue Dragon and a Gold/Bronze Dragon. In the clouds above, someone is holding a sword. The book is 192 pages and includes a pull out map in different detail than older edition maps (but covers the same area). Includes history, timeline, country/land bios, God bios and whatnot. Also includes info on the "Living Greyhawk Campaign".

I have seen the cover to which you refer... Mordenkainen fighting a lich I think... I liked that cover, too. However, it could have just been for the first print run, or placeholder artwork. I am quite content to have the cover with Mordenkainen standing triumphant over a dragon, looking over the vast expanse of the Flanaess (well, actually he's looking right at YOU)... Also, I believe it's the demigoddess Mayahein and either Iuz or Erythnul fighting in the clouds overhead...

#7 OleOneEye Sep 23, 2008 23:56:55	What 1st and 2nd Ed. stuff would add to descriptions, background info, and NPC's, maps, etc. The downloads section has Ivid the Undying for free. It is a gazetteer of the Great Kingdom.

Is the info in here found in the 2nd Ed book and box sets? The Gazaetteer for 3rd Ed has alot of similiar info as the 1st edition set, with the main change being 1 was pre-war and 1 is post-war. So it does add to the amount of History of what the DM can know about having access to both.
