Greyhawk is my first love... both as a player and DM though the work required to update things to 4th ed looks daunting. Anyways living greyhawk seems to be coming to a close and living forgotten realms starting. For those of us who aren't in the RPGA can someone share with us what things happened during the living greyhawk time frame? Were there any official changes? Did Iuz get whammied? Rary still around? Those nations that were over run by assorted critters get liberated? Just curious and also fishing for idea's on advancing the timeline. I figure since FR had its timeline advanced by a good chunk (a century?) I might do the same for a greyhawk campaign I run. |

Thrommel was defeated once and for all, but the new queen was also slain (by a demon-possessed adventurer). Following this, the king married a noble from Veluna. Old Wicked had made a number of incursions into Furyondyian territory, but was never able to claim any land; the 590 CY borders of Furyondy still stand. If you have any other questions about the events of the Living Greyhawk campaign in Furyondy, please feel free to send me a private message. I still can't discuss events in available adventures, but the number of details I'll be able to share will jump quite a bit in a little less than a month. Oooh and wasn't there some shenanigans with Karzalin? Did he really betray the Kingdom? I'm trying to knock up my own gazeteer inspired by the events from LG (although our campaign is only in 588 CY at the moment, it's fun to have an idea how the political landscape might change up to 598 CY). I can't wait for the veil of secrecy to be lifted on the LG plots. :D In our campaign Thrommel was rescued and actually married Lady Jolene of Veluna (daughter of the Plar of Veluna I think - so a member of one of the seven powerful Velunese families). I had to retcon the plot so that he disappeared again during the Great Northern Crusade. When we allowed the marriage to go ahead, I had no real clue about the political connotations of the union but Jolene has become a handy plot device to direct the pcs to various missions. The pcs also recovered the Shroud of Karyne as a wedding present for the happy couple which gave me an easier way to resurrect pcs since I only allow clerics of the death gods to raise the dead normally. |

Oooh and wasn't there some shenanigans with Karzalin? Did he really betray the Kingdom? The Barony of Kalinstren, following counsel from the other ruling nobles, was granted to Baron Maximilian Mantrell (a PC Knight of the Hart) in reward for his exemplary service to the kingdom. Karzalin's status is still under the "veil of secrecy", but I can confirm that his position as fire elementalist was granted by the king and the nobles of the Seven Families to Solar, a PC grey elf wizard. |
