#1 sirpatricshieldstrik Dec 03, 2008 6:52:46	Before there was Drizzt Do Urden and Guenhwyvar there was Mika-Oba and Tam-Tur of the Wolf Nomads. Sure he lacked the fighting ability and needed a powerful artifact to do magic but how can you not love a guy trying to find the easy way out in life and get the girl while he's at it. Any thoughts?

#4 sirpatricshieldstrik Dec 11, 2008 6:03:40	Those weren't the greatest books ever and the ending wasn't what I was expecting but I still enjoyed the character.
#5 sirpatricshieldstrik Mar 27, 2009 13:56:36	I 'd rather think of Gord the Rogue and try to forget the Rose Estes abominations were ever published. I have recently read about a Rose Estes hate thread, again don't get me wrong she wasn't that great but she wasn't that bad either.

Mika-Oba gives me a horrible crawling feeling in my gut, somewhere between revulsion, terror, and sadness at a series that went so wrong so fast. Can a character really combine stupidity, cowardice, laziness, faux-macho posturing, incompetence, and narcissism, and still be passed off as the protagonist of an entire series of novels? I can like a character who's a selfish jerk. I can like a character who's a coward. I can like a character who's not so bright. I can even appreciate a combination of all three (Nobby Nobbs!), if done by an author capable of writing humor. Rose Estes isn't. She's not funny. Her "jokes" come off as pale, overstretched things, shaking with their own flimsy weight before collapsing in an exhausted heap before they've managed to crawl the length of a single paragraph. Plus, how can you stand all the **** and bestiality? The series seethes with it.

#8 rhialto Mar 31, 2009 15:19:29	I think the thing that most put me off Rose Estes' writing was the horrible amount of metagame knowledge the characters possessed. They should have no idea what a "level" is, they really shouldn't. That just snaps my disbelief suspenders.

Rose Estes books were not that good but at least they put the Greyhawk name out there. I'm also disappointed with the Greyhawk novels WotC published about 10 years ago because they were all rather generic crappy books written by 3rd rate authors who obviously knew nothing about D&D. The only exception was the Paul Kid books which were actually pretty entertaining even though character development was minimal.
#11 korgolgr-bane Aug 05, 2010 16:51:21	Okay so the story was stupid had good concept to too much fluff and vulgarity. The art should be kept and the character revamped so if you dont want to make it better then dont. But i am definately not into 4.0, 3.5 okay but I would prefer to revamp this if i could ever get her permission, is she even still alive not to mention if any of you looked up her background she never did fictional writing so are we crying babes or are we going to make it better?

(He never realy looked at the spellbook much) and a feats of luck and toughness base.Tam Tur pre trolled- Wolf Companion as if mika is ranger of barbarian Lvl. / Post trolled (Resurected) Troll subtype added. Mika's Stats approx. Str. 15 Dex. 12 Con. 14 Int. 8 Wis. 10 and Cha.13 maybe if using elite array. Me - I had a better rolled version. Str. 18, Dex.14, Con. 15 and I would leave the Int. and Wis. as above and Cha. 14. A real hero, prefuring to fight over magic and a ladie's champion but not such a scumbag. Tam tur as an ally with a mind of its own.
