Nov 06, 2006 6:29:05 The link to the forecaster scroll doesn't seem to be working any more, darn it. Does anybody know of any other forecaster programs that I can use?

Is it a problem on my pc? Maybe I should try to log on at work!

Nov 06, 2006 12:54:28 Maybe try clearing your cookies....sometimes that helps. Otherwise try it from another computer.

Nov 07, 2006 4:48:38 Darn it. Clearing cookies didn't help and it doesn't work on my work's pc either. It worked fine during Fireseek a couple of months ago, and now, nothing! Do you think it's a plot by Iggwilv aimed at those rare few rpg players of good alignment?

More to the point, is there an alternative program if this one has become tempramental?

I just updated it to a newer version.

EDIT: I noticed this couple days ago as the old xml-service server was not responding anymore, so I did a rewrite for the heck of it.

Should the precipitation texts (and moon phases) be changed with nice little pics? With on/off switch?

Should some kind of legend (rules jargon) for the precipitation effects be described in the bottom of the page, if it occurs during the month? With on/off switch.

It now thinks that all mountains have a height of 3000 feet (it has effect e.g. in temperature). Should this be settable by the user?

Any other idea?

Nov 08, 2006 6:12:34 It's true it would be handy to have a cheat sheet to remind us of the basic effects of precipitation and winds I guess but that might take up a fair bit of room?

Personally, I'm not overly concerned with elevation for moutains but that's because my players haven't been in the mountains for years! Still have to run GDQ mind you...

Phases of the moon would be cool either way. I vaguely recall that when both moons are full it signifies some kind of festival? It's been years since I thought about it but that's largely because it's such a pain to keep track of.

I also fixed an old error: changed Half moon => Full moon. Greyhawk Box has for years suffered from the plageous touch of Printing Machines Demon...

There is one night a year.. the Dark Time... now I'm going to have to dig up my calendar ;)

The Dark Tide is the Needfest 4th, when only Celene appears (Full), while Luna is not shown (New).

Apr 02, 2007 1:33:42 Weather forecaster for Greyhawk have been broken since 15th of February 2007. Not until today I was informed about the problem, and is now fixed.

The problem was caused by the server host, who had updated php and set some compatibility settings for it, which caused simplexml not to work properly. And all this was done without telling their customers

However, it is working again, so happy forecasting... :D

Not a shameless bump at all. This is a useful tool that many of us use. Even Living Greyhawk triads make use of this great utility. I'll e-mail a Wizo to see if we can get some sticky action, or added to this board's FAQ.

In short:

This time Mountain elevations can be defined by the user, from the years old default of 3000 feet. This was actual request by a user!

The missing sea and seacoast warm/cold current distinction to the forecast is no longer overlooked.

Showing the latitude map of Flanaess got uplifted into this century.

There is now an Average temperature column between high and low columns.

Changed Heavy Fog -> Thick Fog, and Light Fog -> Thin Fog, being more descriptive.

There are wind speeds with direction.
