So I though: Hey, something it's hard to design an encounter, even if sometime you just have to select monsters, it's still hard to be creative and realistic(depending of your setting). So here goes nothing:

1- Drow Slaver(1400 xp)
1 drow warrior
4 bugbear warrior
-Setting: This drow and his slave-warrior can be found in anywhere in the underdark. In a tavern, in a slave market, in a dark cavern. His motivation can be anything( since he's a drow, it's surely something like gaining power)
-Tactics: The Drow lets his bugbear enter the melee, backing them with his darkfire and shooting enemies with his handcrossbow in hope to poison his enemy.
-Outcome: If the players win, they may find something valuable on the drow. If they were on a mission to recover someone that was captured by the drows, maybe this is his current master or maybe he's the one who sold him. If the players are defeated but not killed, maybe the drow would want to sold them as slave or even as gladiator in a nearby Drow city.

I gladly await yoru suggestions.
