Hey. Tired of handing out gold and gems. Lets make a list of unexpectedly good finds in the treasure chest each between 100gp and 1000gp. It can be magical but nothing with stats just good to sell or store as part of your horde.
-------------------------------------------------------------
#1 Long Windy Cloak.
The long windy cloak seems to always be caught in a light breeze no matter where the player is. The cloak is a bit long but never seems to get in the way.
It don't do much else but gosh it looks snazzy. Cost 100g

LOL, nice Sig Vforged.

As for the Treasure, this will be fun.

2) Mimic! Oh No, they tried to open the box that says "Do Not Open" and now they pay the price. After the battle, it seems that there have been a couple of people who have lost some valuables not to long ago. Finding a Decerative Dagger worth 50 gold... along with a couple bones....

3) Mimics! Oh No, even worse. The Adventurers have found many mimics in he chest instead of the chest being one mimic. At least when you beat them, they had small little status in them. (donno how many, Small Sized, price of item depends on the quantaty.)

4) Picture Day Well, it isn;t in the best shape, but it is a very rare peice of material. It seems that you have found a Picture of a king that seemed to not know that day was Picture day, for obvious reasons. It seems to have been locked away. This serious blackmail to the royal family can be sold for 150 gold.

7) A Gnome in the Box
The little colourful box has a crank that spins and makes a little catchy diddy. When the song ends a little astral gnome pops out and yells BOO! Before throwing Garl's Itching Glittergold at the gullible fools.
His name is Jack. He never gets tired of the prank.

9) A hole into a pocket dimension that sucks in the person who opens it and then makes the chest close again.

Of course, within that pocket dimension is also a monster of pretty nice and high CR compared to the most likely party member to open said chest.

The treasure? A good lesson: "Don't open chests until you know for sure it is not trapped."

10) Rupies.... not to be confused with Rubies. These gems immediately float up and make a strange musical sound. The characters find they can only be used to purchase elven boomerangs.

46) Gloves of Kitten Summoning - 1 use per day, 1 hour duration. Can only summon kittens. Not so great in battle, but great if you need some comfort. Those of certain alignments might also use the kitten for detecting traps or distracting monsters, but we know you'd never do that.

58) "To whomever finds this,
I am afraid I have already looted this, and every other treasure chest within this dungeon. Even so, I have preferred methods that allow me to bypass all the traps and guardians completely. But, I must thank you for removing these dangers to the public."

That is even worse.
