Think up a character for the party to meet!
There is only one rule.
1. Try to keep the description as brief as possible! No life stories.
Oh and put a quote from the character underneath the description if you can think of something.
~~~
1. Saragos Treewrought
In some backwater moorland a tribe has been worshiping him for forty years or so, calling him "The Old Goat at Harvest". He is some sort of wizard and uses his skills to make crops grow.
"Playing God? No, I take it very seriously."
2. Crazy Lord Tomsam
Tommy, as his friends, which are many, know him, is known throughout the land for his mad antics. It is said he once lead a crusade against undead infested mountains but turned to silliness to forget about it all.
"I have, over many years, grown the world's largest bonsai!"
3. Zamul the Dog
Zam was part of a dead nation that lost a war to two kingdoms of superior firepower. As the war came to a close the people of the nation set fire to their oil fields and left the land a burning waste. He now acts as he please, everything on a whim, as he feels he is no longer bound to any form of law.
"Bow wow, punks. Bow wow. Hahaha!"
4. Timothy Alterburn
His father Benjamin Smith changed his name to Alterburn after murdering quite a number of priests of various faiths, because he felt the gods were the cause of all mortal problems. Timothy's father was struck by lightening and Timothy is sure he's been cursed by his father's wrong-doings, he currently lives in a hut away from the town he was born in, living in fear of the gods killing him too, or worse!
"Hello world! I'm never sure if I'm going to see you again but it's nice when I do!"
5. Wisdom & Belter
Jake Wisdom is a smooth talking, well dressed man with money to spare. Belter is a ogress with a love of finery. Together they "protect" people from the monsters of the darkness in return for weekly payments, or else they'll be those monsters.
"I have nothing else left to say, I invite Belter to make a few poignant remarks."
"Raaarg!"
6. The Occuliu
This grumpy, scared beholder is not a being of evil, though he claims otherwise, he guards a musuem in a bustling city. He is always on the look-out for items to put in the museum and pays handsomely, though where the gold comes from is unknown. His pet project seems to be gathering knowledge of the city before recorded history.
"Thank you. Now flee from my infernal gaze, vermin!"
7.Benjamin Randerghast
A member of an long standing noble family who have a dark secret having dabbled with the dark arts.
"oh you wouldn't know my uncle, Been dead a long time. Great at parties as he ever was though. Quite ironic really you could describe him as the life of a party even in his current state. Ha! Now would you like to come over for dinner?"
9. Bob, The narcoleptic tiefling
Every body is in the bar is scared of bob, because of his rather intimidating stare.
However, he is really a nice guy, but he is asleep with his eyes open.
Tends to fall asleep in the middle of a sentence.
"now you put in a bit of garlic in the batter an-d-z....zzzz..zzzzzzz.zzzz"
10. Oth the trap smith
Oth's shop is set up right next to the city guards office. He has set it there because he is a Kobold and tends to get attacked by a mob of drunken adventurers about once a week.
"you won't find a better rabbit trap in the city, I guarantee you if set it as the sun begins to set, you will have dinner by moon rise!"
Great thread!
11. "Ol' Captain Harding"
Old Tim Harding was captain of a ship in the king's navy years ago. He was a clever tactician, but he often took bold risks in battle that got him in hot water. He lost half his left leg and most of his crew in a terrible sea-battle with a pirate ship of Orcs, Goblins, and Hobgoblins. He seems reluctant to speak of those days now, content instead to pour his heart and soul into the brewing of his own special, Beers, Mead, Ale, and Rum.
Quote: "Nay, nay, me adventurin' days be long over. But 'ere, take a swig a'this! Thar be some dark delight in thet, I'll wager!"
12. "Smooth Johnny Hawkins"
Johnny is a tall, very handsome young man with a silver tongue and an easy-going manner. He seems to be friendly with all the "important" people in the city. He knows just the person the characters want to meet, just the place they should go to find that particular thing they need. He can "make that happen for you" for just a small fee. However, as often as not, he is working some dangerous swindle that will involve the characters in a potential life-threatening conflict. And he always has a way out ...for him.
Quote (with a smile) "Really? Well it just so happens you're in luck, my very good friend!"
13. "Argosti Trostell, the Lost Man"
A middle-aged man in decent clothes, with a somewhat confused and worried look on his face. He is willing to pay the characters a small sum to escort him "home." He will describe a place in detail that the characters might recognize, but is some distance away. Sadly, he can never find "home." He went out one night, over a thousand years ago, and ran into a trickster demon who cursed him to be forever lost.
Quote: "no...NO! This is NOT the place! I was so SURE this would be the place, that THIS would be home... but its NOT! ...its not."
14. "Fendrassil Denhowett"
A bent, old woman (who is far sturdier than she looks!) in shabby clothes, wearing thick glasses and a large backpack. She uses a knurled walking stick, and carries a very thick book which is chained to her belt. She claims to have traveled the world and beyond, and written it all down in her book. She will ask the characters about THIER travels, so she can update her tome. Although there is genuine knowledge of everyplace in her book, the truth is hard to distinguish from the scribblings and wild flights of fantasy written there.
Quote: "No, you have that wrong, good sir! Look! I have the REAL truth about that place written down right here!"
15. "Sarfög Iceboot"
A tall, scruffy, burly mountain woman dressed in heavy furs (no matter the current season, location, or weather). Her boots are covered in snow and ice which will flake of as she steps. She is loud and fond of obnoxious jokes. And she is very hungry, and will ask for food. If the characters refuse her, she will become enraged and attack. But if the characters offer her food, she will gladly and ravenously consume any and all of it. Between mouthfuls, she will regale the characters with harrowing tales of fierce battles in the frozen north. When finished, she will flip the characters some coin in payment. (they will be coins of value, but of a type the characters have never seen before). She will then stomp off and quickly disappear behind a tree or around a building.
Quote: "Ah! (mnph!) Let me tell you, (mnmph!) even a Frost Troll will scream (mmmmph!) if you jam a flaming torch up its nethers! (mnmph!) Eh? Ha!"
